I have jsut called Prof Reagans clinic. They will accept me but I need a referral letter from my GP. I will have to wait about 12 weeks for an appointment though! And in the mean time will not be allowed to try and conceive.Sad I am seriously thinking about it. I think I am going to carry on with my clinic and go to my end of April appointment for progesterone results. Once I have them I am going to have a careful Wink summer whilst waiting for my appointment. Or....
I could be really cheeky and get my referral letter sent now and still carry on with my clinic until I get an appointment at St Mary's. Am I being bad? I feel a bit greedy and selfish as someone else could have my appointment... Urrrrmmmmmmmmm, bit of a dilemma Sad

diddle · 14/03/2006 11:03

take the appointment oinker - you deserve it. if its been offered to you then you're meant to have i, if it was meant for someone else then you'd know nothing about it.

FirstNikki · 14/03/2006 11:18

Go for it Oinker get all the help you can, and the results from your current clinic will be good to pass onto Lesley's clinic so keep going to that in the meantime Smile

Nicola63 · 14/03/2006 11:40

Oinker, do you know if one has to definitely have had 3 m/c's before the clinic will accept you?

Smole · 14/03/2006 12:26

I think you should be really cheeky oinker. :o

Piffle - I hope everythings okay.

Nicola - I think a gp will only refer you after 3 m/c's unless you have a very nice gp! :)

Hope everyone else is ok

FirstNikki · 14/03/2006 12:54

Nicola - My hospital in Leicester refers only at 3 another in my area only does it at 4. As smole said some good/nice drs will refer you at 2. How are you doing?

And Smole how are you coping now?

Smole · 14/03/2006 12:59

I'm fine thanks Nikki - how are you after your weekend?

FirstNikki · 14/03/2006 13:08

Getting there thanks, still not rang the counsellor up yet but went to see a good friend last night and her sense and level head and a glass and half of wine later and she cheered me up a bit. Going to another friend tonight so starting to venture out again, which is also probably what I am missing. Still trying to read the lesley regan book but haven't picked it up for a while.

Nicola63 · 14/03/2006 13:42

I'm doing better now, thanks, busy at work which helps a lot. And DH is being lovely to me, I am ulta lucky in that department, if not in everything in life!

Nikki, I too found friends made a big difference too, especially one who had herself had 2 m/c's. Also another one who I communicate with by text message (she's in S Africa) but often a great many messages in the course of a day (she's been my friend for 20 years and she has also had a m/c before). Friends are certainly invaluable. Likewise that glass of wine (!), although I have gone "all healthy" I am still having a glass every few days....

Re the referral issue: I am seeing a private obstetrician so he will probably refer me to St Mary's if I ask, I am sure. I'm waiting to see what he says to me on Friday about test results and what he advises, and then will decide what to do.

mygirllolipop · 14/03/2006 13:56

Nicola- good luck for results Fri.
Nikki - glad you're feeling better.
Oinker -take the appointment and use your normla clinic and don't feel guilty for a second! That's an order from Dr mygirl!

ah south africa! wonderful they are having a heatwave (well they were last week) I have a friend in cape town and love the place. In fact wish I could afford to go on hols it would be great R&R. Glad you are doing better Nicola and a busy work and lovely DH will certainly help. Smile Good luck on Friday, lets hope they have some useful results and it would be good if you could get referred to St Marys (from what I can gather that is the one with Lesley isn't it?)

Thanks Mygirl x

oinker · 14/03/2006 19:04

Nicola63 as the others have said you have to have had three or more for a referral. St Marys will take you after 3 m/c or one stillbirth or one late m/c. Go and see your GP you can only ask.

Thanks for all the positive support girlies I will be going to see my GP asap. Smile

Piffle · 14/03/2006 20:58

Hi all
Oinker I too got told to wait 4.5 mths for assisted conception unit and to NOT ttc the whole time. I thought it seemed like an age to wait and not ttc.
But then I've been ttc no 3 for 3 yrs so 4 mths isn't long. I hope the referral goes well and best of luck - it all sounds really hopeful for you!

As for me, no more spotting, exactly 4 weeks to the day I spotted last mth, so hard not be fatalistic am even thinking phantom pregs.
Am not testing anymore, had some + some - so am so confused.
Am just concentrating on dd (serious leg injury see my other thread :() for now
Take care all xxxxxxxxxxx

hannibo · 14/03/2006 22:14

hi have been lurking since my missed miscarriage in november due to extensive bleeding with medical management i had an emergancy op four weeks later and was advised to wait three months before ttc. After much heartache and angst, dh and i have decided to go for it,but i am scared to death, please may i join this thread?

weewilliewinkie · 15/03/2006 08:22

morning everyone!

Hannibo, you are very welcome. This is a lovely thread, and I'm sure you will find lots of support. Sorry to hear you've been through such sadness. The thing here is, we all know how you feel.

Piffle - your spotting certainly sounds like implantation to me - I had that with my ds (thought it was start of af at the time - happily it wasn't Smile.) try not to worry!

Hope everyone else is ok today! x

FirstNikki · 15/03/2006 09:42

hannibo so Sad to hear of your mc in November I too had one in November and another a couple of weeks ago. As WWW we all sadly understand a loss feels like so feel free to ask, say, shout your frustrations out or whatever without judgement.

Have you any children already? If you are ttc right now what cycle day are you on? Best of luck with the ttc.

Having not a too bad day today, put the counsellors number in my bag but can't bring myself to call her, feel stupid and don't know what to say. Seem to be working through things on my own don't know if thats bad or good but guess will see hey. It was great going to my friends last night we organised to go out on friday so getting back in the social scene again rather than in hiding. Feel if I hide anymore I will become a hermit.

Hope all is well with everyone else? xx

mygirllolipop · 15/03/2006 09:44

morning all,
hannibo sorry for your loos and welcome here. Most ladies are in the same boat, ttc and worried about what will happen if they do get pg, so you're in he right place.
Hope everyone's OK, Piffle looking up other thread.

FirstNikki · 15/03/2006 12:13

Oh Piffle your poor dd, hope things ease for her soon. Monday is a long wait for her though for the appointment.

Piffle · 15/03/2006 13:43

long time for me to be carrying her everywhere too!
Dp bloody bought a barrage of preg tests home this lunchtime
He does not believe the ebay ones I used and tbh I'm in denial totally as well
Just as well bfn!
Will just have to wait and see, I'm no good at waiting...

FirstNikki · 15/03/2006 14:25

Gosh forgot about that the carrying, you will have big muscles by the end of it.

Bless your DP with the pg tests, its good he is there right behind you with support. I agree though it must be driving you crazy with the uncertainty.

mygirllolipop · 15/03/2006 16:18

Oh piffle, you are certainly up and down atm. I'd be pretty peed off with those pg tests all saying diff things. Hope DD gets better soon for your sake and hers.
Nikki -how are you, hope you are OK.
