this is probably such a stupid naive thing to say as i dont really know much about ttc....have you/can you not try ivf?

Mips · 12/07/2006 16:41

Nicola,
I am sorry you are feeling down. I wanted to say that I am thinking of you and hope you have a lovely holiday. I think we all dread birthdays, I certainly do. However, many ladies do conceive well into their 40's. I am over 35 and still of an average age at toddler groups. So try not to worry too much about your age. Its hard I know, but I am sure you will receive the help you need to conceive.
Good luck,
Mips xxx

Nicola {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{BIG HUG}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Nothing else, just that, you sound so low

time4tea · 12/07/2006 21:15

from me too Nicola, big hug. I agree about possibilities for older mums, where I live I am one of the younger ones (35) even my GP said this. but going and talking it over at the clinic is really a good thing, I've found there's a lot of comfort from thinking "I've done all I possibly can about this". But maybe I'm being tactless going on like this, and there is no comfort this time. but as Oinker the Wise says, downers pass.

thinking of you - and hoping you have a wonderful holiday enjoying good times with your DH.

time4tea · 12/07/2006 21:17

just looking at your message again - I thought weird cycles were pretty common post-mc, due to all the hormonal upset? maybe this is the explanation? 43 seems really young for menopause

oinker · 13/07/2006 08:26

Nicola....

Have you had the blood test which gives results on your ovulation and egg release.
This would be a main factor in getting pg.
Yours must be OK as you have recently been pregnant. Get your test result this will put your mind at rest.

As T4T says... your m/c was recent and your cycles will be all over the place for at least 3 mths. I have had 7 m/c and can vouch for this 100%.

Enjoy your holiday hun and make the most of the lovely weather.

}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}HUGS{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{

Nicola63 · 13/07/2006 08:27

Yes that may be it. Although after my first m/c I continued to be totally regular at exactly 28 days every month. I'm feeling a little mentally better today, although af still has not come and I cannot understand wtf is going on. I'm not going to keep testing, will wait till the weekend now and see what happens.

Yes I have been considering what the fertility clinic can do for me, first went there last October after ttc for 6 months following my first m/c. The investigations at that time did not show any ovulation problem, but did show some scarring, which the dr thought may be the problem and which was due to be fixed. Then I went and conceived anyway, so everything was put on hold.

IVF might be a possibility for the future I suppose, but the success rate with ones own eggs is very low at 43 (less than 5%).

You ladies are very supportive, thank you so much. Lets stop talking about me now! I'll report back when something happens (AF, a bfp or, if neither turns up soon, a visit back to the obstetrician).

Nicola63 · 13/07/2006 08:29

Yes, Oinker, you mean the FSH level, mine was fine (3.5). Also, I have had ultrasound on 3 occasions at ovulation time, which has shown the follicles and no problem there. But I am just getting myself in a knot that that was the last gasp for my ovaries!

oinker · 13/07/2006 08:32

T4T..

How are things with you?

LOL at OINKER THE WISE..

oinker · 13/07/2006 08:37

Your FSH level is very good.

Don't even bother thinking about the menopuase.

I am glad you are feeling better....

Some positive vibes for you hun..

Nicola, glad to hear you are on the up, and we were able to help.

Oinker - I'm feeling peaceful after seeing the beanie on Tuesday! back in the appropriate "worrying will do no good, let's just enjoy having beanie with us, whatever might happen in the future" - off to in-laws for a few days at the seaside - lots of lovely nourishing food with no effort and naps while they play with DS

enjoy the good weather ladies XXXXXXXXXXX

rubles · 13/07/2006 10:02

Nicola - I know you don't want to talk about yourself anymore, but I am very happy to hear it wasn't AF. I just wanted to know, do you take your temps in the morning, if so what are they like?

SKYTVADICT · 13/07/2006 11:01

Hi, I popped in here after MC in April but we are now actively ttc again. Hurray. We have a holiday booked for 1 August to Majorca. AF is due 28 July so fingers crossed it may not come.

DP can't believe his luck (it is CD13 today so we have been madly b d ing for a couple of days). Didn't have a problem conceiving last time as it happened in the second month of trying. Probably won't be so lucky this time but you never know.

Hello to everybody on here and fingers crossed for everyone

Janus · 13/07/2006 11:48

Nicola, sorry to hear your news, as said, I was all over the place with periods after my m/c for about 4 months, I think most people are, so I hope yours settles soon and then you can try and work out the next thing to do. Good luck.
T4T, I'm so pleased for you, you are right, enjoy the time and do get some rest, aren't grandparents wonderful?!
Here's hoping we get some more good news this month. Am playing the waiting game again, doesn't the second half of the month go slow?!

LittlePolly · 13/07/2006 12:07

Hello SkyTV.
Nicola - sorry you have been feeling so down - here's a ((((hug)))) and just wanted to say the Croatian coast is the PERFECT place for making babies, so fingers crossed for you.
We're off to France for a week at the weekend. Have been religiously ov testing and then completely forgot this morning so had to try to save up four hours worth of wee - not easy with miniscule bladder and also not helped by doing yoga class with loads of downward-facing dog poses! Then test negative anyway, grrrr.
Happy Thursday

ruthlouise · 13/07/2006 20:51

Hi Ladies,

Nicola, I so feel for you, I know (like many others here) how easy it is to let small anxieties grow into big monsters. I don't know enough about all the fertility issues but many of the other ladies here are experts so I'd echo their thoughts. Keep your hopes up and we'll keep everything crossed for you too (except legs cos i'm CD12!). Have a lovely holiday too (((hugs)))

Thanks for all your support the other day. I'm back on an even keel now. Although there will be an investigation, I decided to go to the Patient advice and liaison service at the hospital and let them do the work. I have another appointment with them next monday. It will be easy to prove negligence with my daughters tests but I've resigned myself to fact that we just can't prove why we lost our son. We were advised that he didn't need a post mortem (although they usually do them for losses that late) because he looked so perfect. If we had had one done on him that would have shown whether he had a salmonella infection . There's also no proof from me because they just didn't do the tests which were needed on me at the time.

Nicola - could I ask you a question please? Is there any blood test which would reveal whether I had previously been infected with salmonella? Perhaps some sort of antibodies test?

Oooh La La Little Polly - have a fab time in France. I can see France from my lounge window so don't forget to wave!!!

Any further news from you Smole after yuor short AF?

Nicola63 · 13/07/2006 21:59

Thnaks for the friendly words. Answers to questions:
rubles: no I have never done my temps. Have relied on ov tests, although did not do one this month. Have always been right on the day 14 mark when I have tested.
ruthlouise: theoretically it should be possible, but I'm not sure if such a test is actually available. Your GP should be able to find out though. Sorry not to be more helpful but its not something I know much about.

Still no AF but feeling all the time like she is on the doorstep. Have never had such a long cycle in my life.

rubles · 14/07/2006 06:42

So Nicola, you're CD34 today right? What day did you ovulate?
I generally really try not to get people's hopes up, but I think this sounds like it could be good for you. I really hope so.

Nicola63 · 14/07/2006 08:08

rubles, I don't know when (or if) I ovulated this month, as I did not test (I don't bother testing every month as I never had a problem with ovulation and we bd every day throughout the month anyway). Yes it is day 34 now and still nothing. And another bfn this morning.

oinker · 14/07/2006 08:14

Keep positive Nicola.

Mips · 14/07/2006 08:48

Smole · 14/07/2006 09:33

Morning ladies.

Ruthlouise - AF was in two halves!

My back is also better!

Fingers crossed for you Nicola.

Nicola63 · 14/07/2006 12:21

Mips that is so nice, very glad for you! I'm just trying to forget about everything, have a nice weekend and will arrange to go and see doctor on Monday. Obviously my hormones are majorly out of whack or something.

It looks like being a lovely weekend here in London, enjoy it everyone.

Excellent news Mips
you mentioned having slightly shorter cycles. I had a couple of shorter ones after m/c too and got caught out when I think I OV'd earlier than expected - didn't start using test sticks til day 11 and never got proper positive so as Oinker said - 'Get BDing' - you don't want to miss it
I had positive stick yesterday and OV pains today which is day 13 - typical when I've been using the sticks since day 6! But very pleased as hopefully that means cycles have settled and reassuring as I've only ever twice been aware of OV pain. don't know what our chances are this month as dh sat working with his laptop on his lap late Wednesday night - reckon he's fried the poor little swimmers 'cos I realised it gets really hot when he came to bed!!!

Have a good weekend ladies, take care of yourselves, love Ruth
