Try to work on getting that feeling out of your system, you didn't let him down you did everything you could at the time. By the sounds of it the consultant should have done something sooner if they could. xx

AF is here!! so thats 29 days again counting day after mc, CD1 today. At least my body is getting back to normal.. Strangely though I feel less bloated Smile

jmum6 · 30/03/2006 13:50

Afternoon all.
I've just realised what all the squiggles are. You are all so brave. I wish I had known about mn when I had last miscarriage in 2004. We just took ourselves up to Edingborough and stayed there until it was all over. I was told it was going to happen before it did, and as I didn't need to stay in the hospital, and as long as I went back into hospital tfor them to check all was ok and nothing was left in situ, then they were happy for us to go away and hide.

I couldn't stay at home and forever associat the miscarriage with our house. Stupid I know, but just wanted to get away, and also be away from people we knew as well. Does that make sense?

ruthlouise · 30/03/2006 14:06

jmum6 - u make perfect sense! I don't know how I'd cope without MN, found it by accident but its been such a source of comfort over the last month or so. I also am finding it very difficult to face people. I know its not good to hide away but its easier so MN has been very important to me.
I think you were wise to go away - I associate my bedroom with Isaac because I spent 6 weeks on bedrest in it and during the last few weeks lay there feeling him squirm and move, willing him to keep going Sad.

FirstNikki · 30/03/2006 14:41

jmum6 as RuthLouise says you do make sense taking yourself to Edinburgh for peace. thats one way I didn't look at it at.

At least we have all found MN and that MNers have been able to help. Smile I think its a good place to be.

Ruthlouise, take it easy you have been through an awful time and time will help, its still early days x

jmum6 · 30/03/2006 15:17

Ruthlouise- Issac's such a beautiful name. I hope this doesn't sound insensitve but I conceived straightaway after the 2004 m/c so it is possible.
Of course you don't enjoy the prg as you keep waiting for it to happen all over again.

You can't hide away forever though and the hatrdest thing is facing people again. You either get too much sympathy or not enough.

ruthlouise · 30/03/2006 16:09

jmum6 - when u say 'staight away' do you mean literally within the month? Wow! I've been looking around posts on MN today re OV after miscarriage. I have started to get CM today (13 days after m/c) but as I'm still also bleeding I doubt there would be much chance of bean sticking even if I OV'd? would love to be pg straight away but also think stress am under at mo makes it unlikely too. I read online that normal chance of conceiving in a cycle is 20% but straight after m/c its 40% chance but it didn't say what factors were taken into account and I'm sure still bleeding would be big negative factor so shall just have to be patient like everyone else has been. Am hoping to see some more BFP's on here soon - Oinkers was such an encouragement the other daySmile

ruthlouise · 30/03/2006 16:12

Always wanted Isaac for a little boys name - was in two minds whether to use it because there is a bit of me that still would have hope to have a living child with that name but it means 'laughter' and I thought why shouldn't we call our baby something beautiful and which reflects life - we also recognise we need to learn to laugh again.

weewilliewinkie · 30/03/2006 17:48

ruthlouise - just wanted to tell you that I also was bleeding about 12 days after my m/c - at the time I thought (hoped) it was AF but now I know it wasn't. My real AF just came last Sunday...just over 4 weeks after AF. Think the first bleed was just a little 'clearing out', iykwim.

Also, you musn't blame yourself for your m/c - YOU DIDN'T LET ANYONE DOWN. Nature sucks sometimes, we all know that. But it can also do wonderful things, and soon we're all going to be chatting on an ante-natal thread, I'm sure of that. Smile

I've been reading your other post about arranging Isaac's funeral. I'm so so sad for you, I have no advice to offer, but know that I will be thinking of you on the day. You're extremely brave. Hopefully the day itself will be a milestone for you, and help you on your road to healing.

I won't be here for a while as I'm heading off on holiday for a few days...will check in if I can! Off for lots of rest, relaxing, peaceful times and a colossal amount of bd'ing! Hope you're all well, I'll 'speak' soon.

Take care all xx

ruthlouise · 30/03/2006 18:30

Thanks WWW - chatting on antenatal thread is nice thought Smile. I came across some of your recent posts when searching re OV and m/c. you sounded as desparate as me - I am trying to be realistic but its not easy is it? I know mine def isn't AF but is continued loss but was surprised re CM. dh away and not b/ding anyway but would be interested to know whether its possible to OV 2 weeks after m/c and does late m/c make it more unlikely?

jmum6 · 30/03/2006 19:17

Didn't realise thats what Issac meant Ruthlouise it's really beautiful, and so sensible (for want of a better word) of you to chose such a 'happy' name for him.

I had the m/c end of oct/ beginning of november and bled for about a week very heavily, I then had a 'normal' period about 3 weeks later - without using clomid - they wouldn't let me as they wanted to let my body recover for 3 months. But then I conceived ds on 7th December (my DAds birthday as it happens). So I guess it was the next proper cycle again. So my due date was based on the start of the 'Proper bleed' which was the 22nd november.

ruthlouise · 30/03/2006 22:53

Oh WWW - nearly forgot don't forget to pack some babydust...

How is everyone?

FirstNikki · 31/03/2006 12:32

Hoping the weather stays like this at least can then get out for some walks and get fresh air.Smile

Not long until the weekend Grin

Smole · 31/03/2006 13:01

I've got nothing planned for the weekend.

Gardening if it's nice I guess.

ruthlouise · 31/03/2006 13:26

hi all
dh gets home late tonight and is here for weekend before going away again Monday. we are going to look at buying a new bike for me tomoorow (?retail therapy!). Would be good to do a bit of gardening - we have a veg plot which is very therapeutic.
Smole - what type of gardening do you do?

Today is 14 days since m/c and have lots of 'achey' pain low down on both sides. No loss today which seems odd. Is this aching normal? did anyone else have it? thanks

rubles · 31/03/2006 14:55

I'm out for my birthday tomorrow night. dd is spending the night at her child minder's so we are able to have a big night, although at the moment I really don't want to.

FirstNikki · 31/03/2006 14:57

yes I had achy pains I put it down to my insides getting back to normal.

I must say (tmi) although my af is here it is the lightest one ever...really odd was expecting a bad one or at least a normal one.

I will be going to see a friend and probably shopping too fancy some new tops and a pair of boots.

ruthlouise · 01/04/2006 16:36

Happy birthday Rubles

ruthlouise · 01/04/2006 16:40

AAArgh! Bike shop was meant to have bike in stock which we ordered but when we got there the salesperson said 'Nah, didn't come in on Thursday when it was supposed to'. Useless. Why didn't they ring and save us the journey (and disappointment as its a beautiful day here and I could have been out cycling). Oh well, up the garden then....

FirstNikki · 01/04/2006 17:52

Happy Birthday Rubles Hope you have a lovely day xx

and the af stays away Wink

Nice post Ruthlouise, shame about the bike though, Some shops do annoy you don't they when you when something doesn't arrive and they don't let you know....its so simple to pick the phone up. when will you have it now?

ruthlouise · 01/04/2006 21:43

Nikki - we left it that they would ring when they get it in stock but we are planning a few days away after the funeral and was hoping to take bikes with us. Not essential but would have been nice.
Did you get out for a walk today?

Its been quite quiet on here recently - where is everyone? - feel like I'm hogging the thread! Wink

riley3 · 02/04/2006 16:07

Hi all - just been reading through the thread after my usual long break and glad to hear all the words of wisdom. Well turned out I hadn't mc'd yet. I didn't until Thursday when I (tmi warning...) passed the empty sac whole Sad after pains which were closer to labour pains than period pains. I had a scan booked on Friday anyway, as I was confused to have started bleeding again, which confirmed that things had finally gone. What's that about? The mc took nearly four weeks to happen and I had already had such heavy bleeding, although now it's even heavier... So will I now have to wait another 4 weeks for AF? Does it count as a mc at 11 weeks or one at 15 weeks (considering the sac was empty at 11 week scan but was not "aborted" until nearly 14.5 weeks). And is this amount of bleeding before actual mc normal?

ruthlouise · 02/04/2006 17:08

Hi Riley,
Good to see you back
how horrible for you. I'm sorry.
I'm no expert but my gut feeling is that you m/c'd at 11 weeks with all the associated hormonal changes and that recent bleeding was return of AF. I'd guess that it was AF that finally shifted the sac? You could do pg test in a week or so to see if your hcg levels have returned to normal (apparently normally takes 4-6 weeks)? I've read quite a few posts where ladies have said their first AF after m/c was heavy.

I know hcg levels are much lower in later pregnancy but I tested mine few days ago and got BFN (13 days after m/c)so am hoping body is getting back to normal. Also bought isis ovulation scope and have started getting transitional ferns as well as CM. Not a lot of use though as dh is away from early tomorrow til Thurs pm so even if I do ovulate this month nothing will can come of it [imagine 'annoyed' smiley here!]

evenhope · 03/04/2006 08:55

riley sorry to hear you've been through the mill.

firstnikki, you were right. AF started on Saturday (so for anyone else wondering, it's 4 weeks after the loss and not 4 weeks after ERPC). Been a bit tetchy all weekend so I don't know if it's normal PMT or delayed reaction to the m/c. I'm waiting for the counsellor to get back to me.
