No Symptoms, No Google, No sticks

Due to overwhelming monthly disappointments, a few of us have decided to go the traditional route.

Coupled with that, we know that one CAN'T have pregnancy symptoms unless one is ACTUALLY pregnant and that only actually happens after implantation. Which is normally about 10DPO then it takes a couple days to show up in the urine etc etc so pregnancy symptoms can only really be felt at about 13DPO.

The purpose of this thread is three fold:

  • Support in TTC (mostly for first-timers)
  • No symptom spotting allowed AT ALL
  • Trying to exclude sticks (but we know that sometimes they're necessary)

So this will be practical application of theories and science.

We pledge to be honest and open and practical.
We pledge to give utmost support to each other in our struggle TTC
And we pledge to not give false hope or support symptom spotting until well after 13DPO

Knowing too much scares me!

Queen I'm debating testing from 10dpo, won't expect a bfp but would like to know either way if that makes sense? If i got a bfp then af at least I'd know I'd briefly conceived

KickingUpQuestions · 30/05/2012 19:05

I agree with that actually. I will do the same i think. But only from 12 do.

I understand that guys, to be honest I think I'd rather know too. I was talking about the 'high' rate of mc - the majority of them are very early on I think. But I guess if you know that you were briefly pg then it shows you that you're doing the right thing, you were just unlucky that month. And to just keep on doing more of the same, if that makes sense?

KickingUpQuestions · 30/05/2012 20:33

Exactly! At least you know touch can fall pregnant.

I would only say i had an mc when is a bit more established. Else i think its a chem pg.

That's my personal view though.

I didn't think that a lot of the mc's people mention are the ones that could also be a chem pg

OP posts:
KickingUpQuestions · 30/05/2012 20:34

You can fall pregnant rather

QueenOfTheDrama · 30/05/2012 20:58

I guess people call it different things, chem pg or early mc? I had never heard the term chem pg until I joined mn! I think early mc is anything up to 12wks or so?

Pinkie29 · 30/05/2012 21:16

I thought a cp was when you test just before/after af is due get a + then come a few days later abs mc would involve going hospital as later on! Again just my personal view

KickingUpQuestions · 30/05/2012 21:34

Chem pg is when the egg fertilized but doesn't implant properly. I think your body releases hcg so the test will pick it up. But its such a small amount that it would be out of your body in a couple days.

The difference between chem pg is that the egg doesn't survive and doesn't turn into a foetus.

An mc is literally losing a baby or forming baby.

My understanding

we had a chem pg in December. We think :)

My boobies hurt... Day 8 tomorrow!

KickingUpQuestions · 31/05/2012 07:29

Boobie hurtage right now is as a result of progesterone post ovation. Its very common - even if you have never had it before.

The progesterone post OV will increase whether pg or nor until AF is due and even after depending on your body.

Over a couple weeks post AF the sore boobage should increase rather than abate. Hence early sign of pregnancy. Not early sign of implantation or conception.

Still no symptom.

I never get sore boobs but have had it the last few months.

Last month they started on the day AF was due!! But i was 4 days late so they just got more and more some until AF arrived

only sign is a positive pg test here

Forgot my smiley faces but on my phone on the way to work

Kittenkatzen · 31/05/2012 07:50

I've had sore boobage on an off throughout the whole of this month. Am ignoring it. Might take up "the only symptom is a bfp" as my new life mantra :):)

KickingUpQuestions · 31/05/2012 07:57

I think the trouble with waiting for AF is that its unlikely that you will get a positive weeks on

like mc, the skew on here is that everything is common and we convince each other against all odds that its a sign of pg. When its more likely that the opposite is true

i think the more you believe you are pregnant, the further you have to fall

i also realised why ditching the sticks helps . We have control over how often we dtd . We have no control over when or if the sticks tell us to dtd.

And repeat until it sinks in!

KickingUpQuestions · 31/05/2012 08:05

Sinking in yet pink?!!! ;) Grin

I've never used ov sticks myself but I can see how that would be the case. I don't much like the idea of dtd 'to order'. Yet!

So, I have a mini dilemma.....I'm supposed to be going to a beer festival this Saturday. Today is CD27, and I've no real idea when to expect AF to show up (1st month off pill). I have been feeling very AF-y for the last day or two (cramps, sore boobs, overly emo, being a mardy cow) so I'm pretty sure she's on her way. But what if she doesnt show up before Saturday?

I dont massively want to start testing as that would be a slippery slope to obsession for me I think. But I know it's the only way to be sure.

DH reckons wait till Saturday and if no AF we'll think about it then. Which is why he's the sensible one in our relationship! :o

Pinkie29 · 31/05/2012 08:23

Sadly no kicking haha!

Kitten if I was you I'd test Saturday if no af by then? Although I read on here that for the first 4 or 5 weeks you don't share a digestive system etc with the foetus as the placenta isn't attached/grown?

Kicking - I was looking through some bbt charts last night and found one woman who for the month only dtd the day before/of ov after a positive opk and got a bfp?!

www.fertilityfriend.com/ChartGalleryCache/chart147892-0.png?k=2870300;1338447731;0;5202263240358bae9a78a4da39b2880b

Hope you guys can see that, how lucky!!

NicolaHazel · 31/05/2012 09:31

I've decided I want some of that lovely rebound fertility please.

Hoping I OV'd yesterday (bit early, perhaps, but had symptoms, so you never know!) so made sure I DTD last night!

But no symptom spotting will take place. Much!

Pinkie29 · 31/05/2012 10:58

Oh man I'm impatient today!!!! I need to
know!!!!!

VeggieSaus · 31/05/2012 11:27

So glad I found this thread!
After spending the last 4 cycles convincing myself I had preg symptoms and feeling crushed when AF arrives I am desperately trying to take a more relaxed approach this month. Only one week to go . . .

KickingUpQuestions · 31/05/2012 14:39

I told DH i will test a bit earlier this month. Just for the he'll of it.

Welcome veggie. Yep I've had that and so have a few other ladies

we now know there aren't any actual signs of pregnancy :)

OP posts:
QueenOfTheDrama · 31/05/2012 16:08

kitten I agree with pinkie - test on Saturday if no af. I think I heard that digestive system thing too, so I'm sure a few beers would be fine either way.

Welcome veggie Smile

Kittenkatzen · 31/05/2012 17:42

Welcome veggie :)

Thanks ladies yes I think I will do that. No point worrying till then anyway, especially as its so unlikely anything happened this month.

KickingUpQuestions · 31/05/2012 23:07

Yeh apparently the first 6 weeks are safe and have no real effect

OP posts:
Pinkie29 · 01/06/2012 09:35

I worry about dtd erm... Too rigorously after (possible) conception? Kicking tell me I have nothing to worry about please Grin
