No Symptoms, No Google, No sticks

Due to overwhelming monthly disappointments, a few of us have decided to go the traditional route.

Coupled with that, we know that one CAN'T have pregnancy symptoms unless one is ACTUALLY pregnant and that only actually happens after implantation. Which is normally about 10DPO then it takes a couple days to show up in the urine etc etc so pregnancy symptoms can only really be felt at about 13DPO.

The purpose of this thread is three fold:

  • Support in TTC (mostly for first-timers)
  • No symptom spotting allowed AT ALL
  • Trying to exclude sticks (but we know that sometimes they're necessary)

So this will be practical application of theories and science.

We pledge to be honest and open and practical.
We pledge to give utmost support to each other in our struggle TTC
And we pledge to not give false hope or support symptom spotting until well after 13DPO

We should take a vote Smile

QueenOfTheDrama · 06/06/2012 21:59

Maybe sign of late ov kicking? In which case you've still got all bases covered Smile

My vote is for kickingtheguru Grin

NicolaHazel · 06/06/2012 22:06

Kickingtheguru is good for me! :-)

I'm swerving DTD tonight as a) we did it the last two days and b) I was up at 5 today and am knackered after 10 hours in the office :-(

Have to try to fit in in tomorrow night, though I really do have work I need to get done in the evening...damn being so busy at work.

QueenOfTheDrama · 06/06/2012 22:15

I'm the same nicola I'm far too knackered today to even contemplate dtd, didn't stop DH from trying his luck though! Grin ov has been and gone here anyway so just shagging for fun when we feel like it till af comes (or doesn't come fx!)

Pinkie29 · 06/06/2012 22:19

Guru obviously Smile

On that note Guru... I need advice... I'm scared to dtd now!! I think dp is too because a lot of the time I get pain like af during sex

NicolaHazel · 06/06/2012 22:28

That's interesting, Pinkie as I get that during sex too sometimes. I thought it was related to the pill though, as hadn't happened before or after...hmmm!

QueenOfTheDrama · 07/06/2012 06:52

Now and again I get a bit of pain AFTER sex, sort of like mild af cramps. Not bad enough for me to be worried about though. I thought it just happened after a particularly vigorous sesh Blush

NicolaHazel · 07/06/2012 07:07

Maybe that's it, Queen? Mine come on a bit during, but are worse after (when I'm not being distracted, ha ha!).

At least I know others get the same now though.

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 07:49

i tried to so wise guru accent and failed

pink - it is believed to be perfectly safe to DTDwhen you're just pregnant. i think here it becomes a personal choice.

if you don't feel.comfortable and no matter what the internet says, if you feel concerned chat to the mid wife.

its your body and your baby so its your decision.

also remember that nothing will 'get up' there to the baby and i have read that cramps are normal...

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 07:59

Nicola it seems to be after certain positions? Always noticed it more around when af was due not sure if that's the position of the womb/cervix! It's not agony just a bit nauseating, tho after a particularly rigours session it has been quite bad haha

Guru (bows) thing is I want to I'm just worried it could 'dislodge' something so early on? thanks tho I'll ask the midwife later will stick it on my list of questions Smile dps been very understanding bless him

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 08:23

We had that over December. we were both too scared in case it did something. but everything i read said it would be safe

I think we were gentle and DTD less. it was always at the back of our minds. so no matter what medical advice is given, you need to be comfortable with it as well :)

What was the voting for? To change my name when I am pregnant?

OP posts:
Kittenkatzen · 07/06/2012 09:21

Yep! I think the general consensus is for kickingtheguru....not sure you're going to have a great deal of say in the matter yourself..... Wink:)

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 11:46

I think just in general you should change it Smile

VeggieSaus · 07/06/2012 11:49

Hi Ladies and congrats Pinkie :)
After being relaxed and avoiding symptom spotting all month I have been slowly driving myself mad this week :(
AF due yesterday but not entirely regular so often a bit early or late. Had a few cramps on Sunday night then found a bit of darkish blood on Monday morning. Was upset but tried not to get too down about it and just look forward to another month of dtd eod. However AF did not arrive 'properly' and I have just had intermittent spotting since Monday. I sometimes get spotting the day before AF and then it becomes heavy but nothing like this. Could it be a symptom?? I have had a bit more cramping this morning. Boobs were sore for the last week or so but not now. DH is away for a couple of days now and don't want to test without him :(
Sorry for epic post but I am going crazy! Was prepared to accept AF and move on but now I feel as if I have been given false hope. I hate my body!!

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 11:55

Sore boobs doesn't mean anything apart from general progesterone in your body post OV

If you don't want to test, there really isn't any other advice to give. Testing or AF are the two only ways that you can see if there is a positive. Nothing else is reliable.

Good luck

VeggieSaus · 07/06/2012 12:07

Will try to wait til Saturday and test then if AF still not properly appeared.
I'm fairly sure it is on the way and I get nervous every time I go to the loo. This TTC lark is ridiculous!

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 13:42

Yep it's frustrating as all heck! On all occasions of me being late, it wasn't what I thought it was. Or not a fully sticky pregnancy.

The thing is that relying on AF arrival is also not really reliable. Because you stress from the due date onwards. The most reliable thing is actually a pregnancy test.

Do one with DH on the phone?

OP posts:
QueenOfTheDrama · 07/06/2012 16:47

If you're late then do the test veggie or you'll drive yourself mad. You could do it over the phone with DH like kicking suggested, or just do it yourself and it can be a lovely surprise for DH when he gets home. Good luck!

VeggieSaus · 07/06/2012 19:31

Bah! AF arrived, as the sensible part of my brain knew it would. I have turned into a hysterical fool since TTC and manage to convince myself every month that I could be pregnant.
Trying to be positive now, at least I can drink loads of champagne at family wedding next week Wink
Got lots of dtd to look forward to and will DEFINITELY try to stop symptom spotting this cycle!!

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 19:44

Just to completely prove to myself that none of whati feel is related to pregnancy, i did a pregnancy test.

obviously negative so obviously not related to pregnancy.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheDrama · 07/06/2012 20:34

Snap kicking! Silly me cracked earlier and poas - negative obviously as I'm only about 8dpo! Then I went a bit loopy and took it out of the bin about 2 hours later and saw a faint line. Nearly had a heart attack but then realised that obviously its just an evaporation line, if the test was going to be positive then it would have showed up within the time limit, not hours later!

Its still too early for you too kicking, you could still be pg! As for how you're feeling, I really hope that you get some answers from the doctor tomorrow.

Sorry that af finally arrived veggie but great that you're still really positive about everything Smile

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 20:56

I did it because i am having the same problems that i had this time last month. I wasn't pregnant then so i can't be pregnant now. Kind of thing...

Anyway - i am not worried. AF should arrive on 14 June so will know either way next week.

OP posts:
alwyn · 08/06/2012 08:31

Can I join in? I don't have a clue what half the symptoms are and I'm not Googling them to find out!!

It's my first cycle TTC #1 and me and the DH are just enjoying the practice :D

redstrawberry · 08/06/2012 08:31

Its still early days kicking and queen - hold out till next week. fx
Sorry AF arrived veggie but here's to more humpage next month!
