No Symptoms, No Google, No sticks

Due to overwhelming monthly disappointments, a few of us have decided to go the traditional route.

Coupled with that, we know that one CAN'T have pregnancy symptoms unless one is ACTUALLY pregnant and that only actually happens after implantation. Which is normally about 10DPO then it takes a couple days to show up in the urine etc etc so pregnancy symptoms can only really be felt at about 13DPO.

The purpose of this thread is three fold:

  • Support in TTC (mostly for first-timers)
  • No symptom spotting allowed AT ALL
  • Trying to exclude sticks (but we know that sometimes they're necessary)

So this will be practical application of theories and science.

We pledge to be honest and open and practical.
We pledge to give utmost support to each other in our struggle TTC
And we pledge to not give false hope or support symptom spotting until well after 13DPO

Hi Alwyn, that's definitely the right attitude! Enjoy it!

KickingUpQuestions · 08/06/2012 09:59

I thought about testing again this morning as I only got up twice to pee last night. TWICE. What heaven.

But my bed was too cosy and it was too much of a mission to POAC (i prefer the cups).

AF is 6 days away now. Strange to be not so interested but I guess the thirst has occupied my mind a bit more.

OH and the pharmacist at Boots asked if I could be pregnant. To which I replied that we were trying and were still in limbo land and he went "too early to even contemplate pregnancy symptoms or even worry about anything"

^^ Another lesson learned. Or proven... Grin

Hi everyone please can I join this fab thread, been ttc Dc2 for 16mo, tried going with the flow, then opk's, had a chat with GP, now temping, can't be bothered with it all anymore, tis exhausting :( Got pg with Dc1 month after stopping pill....P'raps just need a reality check, have a gorgeous 2yo so feel I should be thankful. Off soap box! Feel better already!

NicolaHazel · 10/06/2012 16:11

Hi Cheerio :-)

Welcome to the keeping sanity thread!

alwayshopeful13 · 10/06/2012 18:01

This thread has made me realise (MASSIVE penny dropping!) how I've slipped into the habit of testing way too early for months. It's become a proper obsession, and the roller coaster with it of course, when I should really have been waiting a good 13+DPO. Keeping the hpt companies in business...seriously!! 13DPO will be my new yardstick.

Now where did I leave my willpower?... :-)

alwyn · 10/06/2012 18:03

At the till when you bought the tests?? Grin

alwayshopeful13 · 10/06/2012 18:05

Alwyn - yep you're so right. My DH has offered to hide the hpt stash until 13 DPO, but that doesn't stop me popping into Boots on the way home from work :-)

KickTheGuru · 10/06/2012 20:38

There is no point testing early. If you think you have pg symptoms, test. When or if it is negative, you must accept that any symptoms you are experiencing can not and are not as a result of pregnancy.

alwayshopeful13 · 10/06/2012 21:40

Thanks kick. I know you're right. I'm trying to ignore anything that's remotely a possible symptom because I get into a pointless cycle of "it's just like pre-af symptoms so could be that/but I never had those symptoms before cycle went mad post mc/maybe I did but now I'm more attuned to looking for symptoms" etc etc etc! All the above is why this thread was so appealing! So yep - waiting til Friday earliest for the test.

Have a good week everyone :-)

Popinda · 11/06/2012 06:59

Wow, where do you test the willpower not to test? Last cycle I tested every day from about 6dpo! I know it was way to early, but I just couldn't help! Grin kept thinking what if?! Grin made myself believe I'm pg and got pg symptoms and of course I wasn't pg and symptoms were af symptoms! Sad so decided that I won't be symptom spotting and test early this cycle! It's proving very hard! Sad
Big hugs for all of us to keep strong and not to test! Grin

JazzyTTC · 04/07/2012 16:55

Hey buddies, pls add me in too. AF is due on 14th July, no OPKs although I think I ovulated arnd 14th or 15th wid EWCM. 11, 13, 15, 17, 19 BDed, now leaving the rest to Mother Nature. Wink Wishing you ppl loads of baby dust. :)

hannahsarah · 17/07/2012 19:04

What a lovely refreshing thread. TTC since start of the year and I have obsessive tendencies anyway! I am going to take the advice on here and stop googling symptoms. I've managed not to buy any hpts yet and you ladies have strengthened my will power to keep resisting until AF actually fails to appear. What a treat to be able to have a conversation about this without having to share way too much with friends/family. Thanks.
