TTC first baby

Hello all! DH and I are TTC our first baby, I'm 31, he's 32. We've only been trying for a month so it is extremely early days but I'm so excited at the prospect.

DH may have some fertility issues (picked up on a scan) but I was pretty convinced it was going to be a BFP straight away as I had so many symptoms - but that shows how much I know! Blush

Is anyone else TTC their first baby? Please join and keep me company!!

Thinking I will POAS tomorrow morning.

I came off the pill at Christmas, and had a couple of very long, erratic cycles, before settling down. So definitely worth doing sooner rather than later.

Kittenkatzen · 18/05/2012 08:37

I've hidden mine at work so no chance of DH finding it.....the boss, however Confused

Welcome Nicola :) i second the others and say ditchthe pills and go with condoms/withdrawal until the timing suits you better. does frolic acid really take up to a year to work??

red and *bugsy POAS POAS!! :o:o

Ooh thanks for the app tip queen off to the app store for me then....!

Kittenkatzen · 18/05/2012 08:37

Clearly I meant FOLIC acid!!! But frolic acid has a nice Ron to it don't you think?!

Kittenkatzen · 18/05/2012 08:39

OMG "has a nice RING" to it!!!

Disclaimer for awful typos: am on packed commuter train using iPhone one handed!

NicolaHazel · 18/05/2012 08:41

Frolic is far more apt!

They say at least 3 months prior to conception, but some of the advice just says if you're a bit older, then there may be benefit in taking it for longer.

I mentioned it to my GP and she said it was fine.

redstrawberry · 18/05/2012 09:09

I like frolic more than folic :)

hahaha I am tempted to POAS kitten but going to wait for one or two stronger signs.
Symptoms haven't changed much except boobs are very tender but could be pre AF one. They tingle a bit more than usual. I am 6dpo so still very early to detect anything even if I did POAS.

Have you started your ttc cycle kitten?

Kittenkatzen · 18/05/2012 09:58

I didn't realise that nicola - i just assumed you started taking it when you sarted TTC, in fact I hadn't even got around to getting any for myself yet....so just stopped off at boots and picked up some pregnacare conception. I feel healthier just knowing it's in my handbag haha!

red I took my last pill on 3rd May so I guess technically I'm actually just waiting for the re-emergence of ERTD so that I can start to track my cycles properly. Of course there is a massive teeny weeny part of me that is secretly hoping for a flukey first month BFP :) ....but I'm trying to keep that part in check!

Unfortunately because I was on the combined pill for 14 yrs straight I've no real idea of what a "normal" cycle for me is so it's a case of wait and see for now.

Kittenkatzen · 18/05/2012 09:58

Forgot to say that I'll keep everything crossed for when you do decide to POAS :)

MissMedusa · 18/05/2012 10:00

Hi Ladies, may I join you?

Me (33) TTC about 10 months more or less now. I had a laparoscopy to remove a cyst from my ovary on the first day of this cycle so hoping that will make TTC easier now. DP is (reluctantly) getting tested next week as well. I'm on CD 17 but no sign of OV yet, I have a feeling I might not OV this cycle at all as my body recovers from the trauma of the surgery.

We started SWI after I thought my body had healed but I think may have tore something carrying groceries the other day as I started started spotting again so thought it best to take it easy on the SWI until everything is properly healed. Spotting has almost stopped now.

NicolaHazel · 18/05/2012 10:09

I've no idea about my cycle either.

I was on the pill for 4.5 years, then the injection for 8. I came off briefly with no ERTD (is that right?!) during these few months. Then I was on the pill for 13 months with no sign of normality...didn't even use 1 box of Tampax the entire time! Then I went back onto the injection for 3 years, coming off in February this year.

Strangely (after my last experience) I have had normal 'week off' bleeding, which my nurse said is encouraging!

So...I have NO clue either about my natural cycle! Many moons ago, it was 28 days. Who knows now?!

redstrawberry · 18/05/2012 10:58

thanks kitten decided to be impatient and POAS - turned out to be a BFN :( showed up in less than 30 seconds. Guess its not meant to happen this month.

I have tested quite early though 9 days before AF due i think. The FRER says its accurate upto 6 days before AF due. So maybe theres still a tiny sliver of hope.

NicolaHazel · 18/05/2012 11:35

Fingers crossed redstrawberry

I'd definitely try again in a few days. :-)

Kittenkatzen · 18/05/2012 11:48

Yep fx for redstrawberry - you're not out yet and like you say it's early still...

It's frustrating isn't it nicola, now that we've made the decision I just want to jump straight in and get on it (so to speak!) but feel like i'm floating in limbo-land at the moment. We'll be the only two people on the thread actually :):) when ERTD shows up this month!

Welcome MissMedusa - sorry you've had a rough time so far, hope things start to go smoother for you from now on

NicolaHazel · 18/05/2012 11:56

Ha ha, exactly.

I feel the same. If it wasn't for the wedding and fitting into the dress, I'd be far more gung ho! :-)

EchoDragon · 18/05/2012 15:06

Hi Medusa as others have said sorry to hear your having a rough time. Fx things will pick up for you

red don't give up. It's not over until AF puts in her ugly red face.

QueenOfTheRodeo · 18/05/2012 22:41

Yes red as others have said its still a bit early for you - maybe test again next week if you can't wait till af is due? I was testing from about 5 days pre-af this month as just couldn't wait - obviously all BFN as af then arrived! On CD5 now, af almost finished so getting eager to try again this month.

nicola have you chosen your dress already, so would be something that couldn't be slightly altered if you were to have a little bump? Smile

Hello and welcome to the newbies Smile

NicolaHazel · 18/05/2012 23:22

Hi Queen :-)

Yeah, dress is all chosen and paid for. A little bump would be OK, but not too sure how well it would alter. Would rather not find out, but will cope if I have to!

redstrawberry · 18/05/2012 23:34

Thanks guys feeling bit more positive now! Will wait till AF comes
Happy swi queen
How far is the big day Nicola?

NicolaHazel · 18/05/2012 23:45

Glad you're feeling more positive, red :-) Keeping fingers firmly crossed for you.

October 13th, so a tiny bit under 5 months. Too bloody long...very impatient.

mrsbugsywugsy · 19/05/2012 09:06

Morning all

I tested first thing today and got a faint pink line. I've put a pic on my profile page - what do you think? Is it positive? I took the photo on my mobile so the quality isn't very good. It was a superdrug test, if that makes a difference. I still have the test and it's gone much darker now but I don't think it counts after ten minutes.

I had an odd night, very vivid dreams and I woke up desperately thirsty.

Kittenkatzen · 19/05/2012 09:19

bugsy I can definitely see a line!! Maybe try again in a day or to, see if it gets darker? How exciting! :o

Morning everyone :)

Christelle2207 · 19/05/2012 09:48

Congrats ! Hang in there sounds like vg news.

NicolaHazel · 19/05/2012 09:58

Ooh...that looks positive to me, but I'm a POAS novice. Really hope it is :-)

I'm now considering just running one more pack of pill back to back, just for the sake of my dress. :-( Don't want to, but also feel I should err on the side of caution. Just in case!

squeakymac · 19/05/2012 10:23

Hi nicola I'm not on this thread - am on the May / June threads - but saw your question re. the pill. I had been on hormonal BC for years too and came off it in February. I was worried I wasn't ovulating after stopping it so went to an acupuncturist who told me about how the hormones had shut my body down - he likened my womb to a barren desert (nice!), said it would take a long time to get pregnant and even if I did I would be likely to lose it as due to the long term hormones my body wouldn't be able to support it. I then went on to get a BFP but lo and behold ended in MC around 6 weeks Sad, now on second cycle trying again. I know lots and lots of women have successful pregnancies just after coming off the pill but I feel sooooo strongly that I should have given myself a few months off it before TTC. I was exactly like you are (just one more pack...!) but I am giving the same advice to all my friends in RL who are in the same situation!!!

Sorry for the rant its a bit of a bugbear for me!Smile

Oh and I'm 31

NicolaHazel · 19/05/2012 10:27

Hi Squeaky

Thank you for your input. You sound like you've had a hard time :-( Will think positive thoughts for you.

I am all over the shop right now, to be honest. Really want a baby, but seriously couldn't afford to sort a wedding dress crisis out either! Driving everyone mad, I can tell you. Including myself!
