TTC first baby

Hello all! DH and I are TTC our first baby, I'm 31, he's 32. We've only been trying for a month so it is extremely early days but I'm so excited at the prospect.

DH may have some fertility issues (picked up on a scan) but I was pretty convinced it was going to be a BFP straight away as I had so many symptoms - but that shows how much I know! Blush

Is anyone else TTC their first baby? Please join and keep me company!!

Bad news I'm afraid - AF paid me a visit last night :-(

Looks like I'll be on the softcups next month. Kitten I can just picture DP's face if I mentioned them!

Good luck everyone else and I will console myself with Wine and the thought of a February baby

Pinkie29 · 16/05/2012 10:51

Kitten - just don't tell him Grin my dp didn't even notice when I'd used conceive plus (is that you'd or bad?!)

Sorry the witch got you bugsy! Have some wine Wine

I'm getting strange ov type twinges cd10?? Way too early based on last cycle but have brought my ovps to work soroll on 2pm Smile

redstrawberry · 16/05/2012 11:07

mrsbugsy hope its the good spotting for you :)
I have had stronger symptoms over the last 24 hours after a week of nothing. I am getting strong cramps and tingly sensations in my boobs. Lot more wet CM again.

I don't want to build my hopes up.

redstrawberry · 16/05/2012 11:08

oh sorry :( I typed the message awhile back, posted late.
gutted for you mrsb

mrsbugsywugsy · 16/05/2012 13:36

Pinkie - so long as your DP / DH is up for the idea of TTC, then he doesn't really need to know all of the gory details. It's hard enough to preserve the romance as it is.

Red that all sounds like good news.

Really I'm OK, this was the first month of really trying, and anyway I love the idea of a Spring baby which is what I am aiming for now. I put my dates into the due date calculator (does anyone else do this when their AF starts?), and it told me that if I conceive next month my due date would be February 19th.

Plus I am going to a beer festival in two weeks and would have had a lot of explaining to do if I was drinking fruit juice Grin

Kittenkatzen · 16/05/2012 14:10

Well in that case as bugsy is definitely out :( then i shall transfer my crossedfingeredness over in reds direction :)

And yep I think all further talk of TTC is hereby banned in chez Kitten so as not to stress DH out - as far as he's concerned everything is the same as normal!

ooh pinkie it's gone 2pm, did you ov test yet?

Pinkie29 · 16/05/2012 14:26

Done an ov test no positive but defo a very faint line, will keep at it the next few days though I know it's a long shot hoping the vitex has helped shorten my cycle first time round!

redstrawberry · 16/05/2012 15:39

mrsbugsy i'm so sad and obsessed, I actually have an excel spreadsheet with fertile days and due dates Blush I know! I need to get a life!

According to the app due date would be end of Jan...Symptoms are increasing, lots more cramping in lower abdomen, but can't POAS till i am atleast 1 day late. I promised hubs I won't, I just hope I don't take a detour to Boots on my way home.

redstrawberry · 16/05/2012 15:41

kitten thats exactly by hubby's attitude, he doesn't want to hear about the symptoms or the ttc malarkey. Its like its a taboo topic! Every time I mention something he tells me to calm down and not get my hopes up. Oh well! we always knew who'd be the sensible one in our marriage Smile

Kittenkatzen · 16/05/2012 16:31

haha reds we seem to have very similar DHs - he is most definitely the sensible one in our relationship. I'm so glad to have found this forum as otherwise I'd be driving him completely bonkers by now!

And I don't think you're sad for having a spreadsheet....in fact I was toying earlier with the idea of making one myself.....quiet day in the office, and I do love a nice spreadsheet! :o

pinkie I hope the vitex has worked it's magic on your cycles first time!

QueenOfTheRodeo · 16/05/2012 16:49

ooh loving the spreadsheet idea! but like you ladies, if I made one then I wouldn't be telling DH! He'd think I'd finally gone mental (already thinks I'm close!) I'm another one who checks out potential due dates as soon as I get af, if we've lucky this cycle I'd be due 20th Feb Blush Another of my favourite things to do is look at baby stuff online, prams, baby clothes, you name it! Obsessed, moi?!

fx for the vitex working pinkie

Sorry to hear about af bugsy but glad to hear you're still so positive about it. I love the idea of a spring baby too Smile

redstrawberry · 16/05/2012 17:00

hahaha you lot are actually making me sound sane! my DH has no inkling of this spreadsheet. I actually started it to calculate when I would become eligible for maternity pay based on the date the baby might be due... sadly its now become a humongous colorful spreadsheet with a lot of dates and personal info :)

happy shagathons to all you lovely ladies on here

Kittenkatzen · 17/05/2012 10:09

I just created my spreadsheet! Blush :)

I don't think it's quite on the same scale or complexity level as yours sounds redstrawberry but it's a start!

EchoDragon · 17/05/2012 13:31

Hi all. Please can I join you? I'm a first timer too. Haven't really started officially trying yet. But had my implant out this week. Can relate to the slight obsessive ness with conception and baby related items. I'm constantly checking out prams and other baby stuff. Can't imagine how nuts i'll be when actually waiting for my BFP. Husbands are best kept in the dark over our more obsessive tendencies. Mine is beginning to wonder when I turned into a baby obsessed lunatic.

QueenOfTheRodeo · 17/05/2012 18:05

I want a spreadsheet!! Might start making one when I have a day off - in a password protected file where DH can't find it!!

Welcome echo Smile

Kittenkatzen · 17/05/2012 18:18

Haha queen I highly recommend a spreadsheet, I can fully see myself spending many a happy hour filling mine with all sorts of vaguely interesting but not that useful information!

Welcome Echo - I only joined this thread a few days ago and like you am just beginning my TTC journey having stopped taking the pill two weeks ago now. As you've probably also seen you're definitely not the only one hiding a secret obsession from the OH :):)

QueenOfTheRodeo · 17/05/2012 19:59

kitten the only thing like that that I have at the minute is an iphone app called 'iperiod' - you can chart your cycles, CM etc on there! I was obsessed with that before we even started ttc but the obsession has gone up a notch since we started trying!

NicolaHazel · 17/05/2012 21:44

Hi all...newbie here.

I'm just considering when to come off the pill, and keep changing my mind.

I'm 35 and he's 32. The reason I can't decide when to come off the pill is that we're getting married in October, so being any more than a month or so pregnant would not be helpful, dress-wise.

Logically I know pregnancy is unlikely to happen straight away at my age, plus I only came off the injection a few months ago, so that could still be lurking. But...my mum fell very quickly both times, and my cousins on my dad's side all get pregnant with immense ease!

What's making it worse is the large number of pregnant people at work...I'm so jealous! I hadn't even really contemplated kids until we got engaged last September. Now it's all I think about. :-(

So ladies...when do we start TTC? I finish a pack of pills tomorrow and am driving myself bonkers trying to decide what to do.

I have 2 packs of pill left, then I'll need to get more, unless we're TTC by then.

Basically I'm rather mental and a tiny step from a spreadsheet, ha ha!

mrsbugsywugsy · 17/05/2012 21:56

Right, you lot have a lot to answer for...I am now the proud owner of my very own TTC spreadsheet! Perfect for working out which days we need to plan a quiet night in! If DP ever finds it, he will think I have totally lost the plot.

I'm actually a bit confused about what my body's doing - my AFs are always quite light but this one wasn't much more than spotting, just a day and a half, with just old looking brown blood (sorry if TMI). What do you think, symptom spotters? Worth a test? Or shall I hold out till the weekend?

red when do you POAS?

Welcome to Echo and Nicola. Nicola, I think you could stop taking the pill now, as it can take a while to get out of your system, and you can get to know your cycles. Use condoms for a few months, or the withdrawal method if you wouldn't mind an 'accident'. Oh and set up a spreadsheet, you know you want to!

NicolaHazel · 17/05/2012 22:03

Hmmm...so tempting to take my last pill tomorrow! And I'm very easily led :-)

Then I can start a spreadsheet. I like spreadsheets.

I would bloody LOVE an 'accident' as long as I can still get in my dress!

Pinkie29 · 17/05/2012 22:12

Resisting urge to create spreadsheet!!!

redstrawberry · 18/05/2012 08:09

Loving all the spreadsheet posts - never knew I could actually spend so much time in excel! go on Pinkie you know you want one Smile

welcome nicola and echo

nicola I came off the pill a year back, but I think they recommend 3 months off it to clear your system - welcome aboard

mrsbugsy a recent cousin of mine who got pregnant said her AF was also a day and a half with nothing more than brown spotting. its sounding good. Did you take a test? I am not testing till next week - keep telling myself that.

EchoDragon · 18/05/2012 08:17

Hi Nicola I personally would stop my pill now and use condoms until your ready to try. We are still not actively TTC. But I want a few months to get my v erratic cycle under control. OH looked at me like I gave him a bag of dog pop. When I gave him bag of free condoms from SHC. Wouldn't care but they're Durex elite so good ones.

Bugs Sod it just POAS if anyone tells you off blame us for leading you astray :o

Loving the idea of a spreadsheet. Need more details to make sure I get it correct tho. Note to self to hide in v obscure place on lap top. Otherwise OH will be having me taken away by men in white coats.

NicolaHazel · 18/05/2012 08:19

Hello!

Seriously thinking I may have taken my last pill today then :-)

I've been taking folic acid for ages as I read that in older ladies up to a year before can be useful. So I'm ready that way.

Scared and excited all at once!

I think you'll be seeing a lot of me now!

EchoDragon · 18/05/2012 08:20
