Had a search for a may BFP thread and couldn't see one (please correct me if there is!) so thought I'd start one..

Joyful the opk gives you a smiley 12-36 hours before you OV.

So sorry to hear about your MC :(

JoyfulJoyful · 22/04/2012 21:27

Thanks Bluebliss and winkle2
We've been trying since Aug last year and I'm 36 and DH is 41.
I tell you, this ovulation thing is more complicated than applied maths.
I am so confused. In common sense terms, I don't believe you'll get a smiley if you don't release any egg otherwise what is it detecting.

Winkle, if the OPKs give you a smiley before you ovulate, why do you get them on more than one day.

I have also been takling the following to 'help' things but not sure it's working so may stop taking them altogther.
Since my MC in Feb, I've been taking folic acid, Zinc, Vit D3 and Vit E.

I just want to have a baby!

JoyfulJoyful · 22/04/2012 21:29

Sorry about your MC Blueblizz

winkle2 · 22/04/2012 21:32

They detect the hormone surge before you release an egg. Guess that surge can last a while?

CraftyGirly · 22/04/2012 21:51

morecoffee what a huge decision, working nights must suck especially when you are TTC, you must be like ships passing in the night! hope that it all works out for the best for you!

littlemiss OMG how unprofessional sending you someone else's details! doesn't bear thinking about if you'd actually got up there to interview and they didn't reallise till then!

wishful I've been the same since TTC with both our health's, making sure we eat lots of fruit and veg and not too much bad stuff! Will never get him to excercise but cutting out some of the crap must be helping somewhat ;)

winkle well done to you and OH! you've worked so hard at it this month surely it's your turn!

toobreahless I'm sure we're all aching for a BFP, I'm keeping everything crossed (apart from my legs Grin) for all of us ;)

blue hi and welcome :) AFAIK if you want to be sure you ovulate then temping is the best method, as OPKs tell you you are ABOUT to OV but not that its actually Happened... you might get a surge/smiley regardless which is what I think happened to me last cycle

on the baby making front here, I'm on CD14, I got +OPKs yesterday and this morning, and we managed to DTD on CD 10, 12 and 14 (today) so far (I made sure to do the winkle till my legs lost their feeling afterwards Wink), think I might be pushing it for tomorrow as well but we'll see Grin will be interesting to see what my temps do tomorrow, as last month my opks were the same but from my temperatures I didn't appear to ovulate. mind you I was having some pretty stressful days around OV time last cycle.
Don't you just feel like shouting 'Leave me alone, I might be OVULATING' at anyone who stresses you out Grin just in case it's having a negative effect ;)

JoyfulJoyful · 22/04/2012 21:51

I see. Thanks winkle.

CraftyGirly · 22/04/2012 21:55

joyful I believe that you can still have a surge and not OV for whatever reason :( it's annoying I know!

JoyfulJoyful · 22/04/2012 22:04

Craftygirl, really ? Does that also mean you can have ovulation pains and not ovulate ? This really is a mystery !

wishfulthinking1 · 22/04/2012 22:07

Realistically I think we'll manage to dtd eod from say cd8 to cd18 - am not charting or anything but as my cycle seems to be pretty regular at 28 days google tells me I'll probably ovulate cd14. I guess i wanted to know if there was big benefit in doing it cd14/15/16 (I notice that's what a lot of people seem to do) or if we're just going to be too shagged out (so to speak). I guess I'm looking for answers where there are none- just need to do it as often as we can and hope for the best.

X

P.s. hi joyful and bluebizz x

CraftyGirly · 22/04/2012 22:08

joyful not sure about OV pains, never had any myself or maybe I have and just didnt realise it! I think there are a whole host of reasons why you might not OV but if you felt pains and DTD on the 'right' days then you can only assume you've done the best you can and wait and see! I hate all the waiting, calculating, temping, POASing too, it seems to have taken over my whole life!

CraftyGirly · 22/04/2012 22:10

wishful we are aiming for EOD between C10 and 20, every day would completely wear us out! wish there was some sort of magic home scanner that you could use to look inside and see when was the right time Grin

toobreathless · 22/04/2012 23:52

Waving to the new ladies!

Joyful sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I had an ectopic prior to DD, almost two years ago and was desperate to conceive afterwards. The forget-me-nots are out at the moment & were when I had the ectopic and always make me remember.

Winkle it most definitely is your turn!! Fingers crossed for you.

Glad I'm not the only one with the ache in the Tummy feeling CraftyGirly makes me feel less mad!

Still no sign of AF or ovulation or anything really since having the implant out here. Would be nice to know where we stand do to speak.

winkle2 · 23/04/2012 09:07

I've heard eating kiwi fruits help with implantation so having one a day from today!

tedmundo · 23/04/2012 11:44

craftygirl yay on the positive opk. I got a bit of a line yesterday and a clear one right now so guess I am ov tomorrow. DH so happy we are nearing the end of this fertile time as he is really knackered.

I phoned him just now to say i got a dark opk line and he sighed and asked for a hearty tea tonight. Ha ha.

Welcome newbies. The only rule for this thread is shag your little socks off!!! We are all being very dedicated about it, but you may want to warn your DPs.

joyful so sorry to hear about the mc. wrigle and I are on an mc thread as well as this. Hop on over if you want to talk it through. This is my first full cycle since the mc and I have been really frightened about my body not behaving itself. So the positive opk today actually made me cry.

wrigle it is great to see you here ... Onwards and upwards hey. We are having new year babies, I know it.

Hello Everyone,

blueblizz and joyful I have added you to the list
morecoffee big decision! I would have done the same! HOpe more sleep and less stress will contribute to BFP!

Well I am on CD18 today and still waiting for smiley face ( have yet to test today). My cycles are usually 32-33 days although the last one was 38 days Confused

Hai1988 · 23/04/2012 12:52

Hai1988-ttc#2- testing 5th May

winkle2 · 23/04/2012 13:13

tedmundo yaay for positive OPK!

StephieFranks · 23/04/2012 15:53

Go for it Ted! CD 23 and nothing no positive opk no ewcm.......turning into an utter basket case! Haven't dtd much as i've convinced myself i'm not going to OV, is this ridiculous, do you think there is still time to salvage??!

RightUpMyRue · 23/04/2012 16:29

Hello fellow maniac TTCers

CD6, officially entering Shag Time.

I've told DP there is to be NO wanking this month, we're SWI every other day from today until we see either a BFP or AF the bitch turns up and he is not to waste a drop of that stuff. Not that he's some kind of crazy tosser who can't go a week without a wank but if we're doing it every other day then he needs time to refill properly, doesn't he? We need all the help we can get this month with him going away for 5 days right at OV time AND we're moving house then too!!!

We've no chance have we? Sad

StephieFranks · 23/04/2012 16:35

Rue you have every chance! :)

blueblizz · 23/04/2012 16:48

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I agree Joyful, this ovulating testing/guess what my body is doing now lark is worse than any maths I've struggled with!! I agree with whoever said sex from end period to day 18 (every other day I must add.) Tried every day for a bout 9 days a couple months ago. Was rubbish. No pregnancy either.
GO FOR IT ALL YOU OVULATING BUNNIES OUT THERE!!
I really really hope we can be celebrating for lots of us very soon. I don't have any symptoms. Is it thread policy to ask if anyone has yet? Or will I get kicked off?

winkle2 · 23/04/2012 16:51

StephieFranks - how long are your cycles usually? any reason why you think you wont OV this month? First month I did OPKS I never got the second line....

Rue - PMSL! I thought I was graphic and gave TMI! Maybe we should rename wanking as 'doing a Rue's OH'!

RightUpMyRue · 23/04/2012 16:55

No way, this is a wank free zone!! There will No Wanking.

That is until we are all PG then we'll all feel sick and tired and they can do what want so long as it doesn't bother us in our PG state Grin

Hai1988 · 23/04/2012 17:44

Just wanted to say there are some lovely people out there.
ishopthereforeiam a mn user has offered to send me some unwanted ov sticks free of charge, and this is gonna really help as cant really afford to buy them but they will be very useful Smile

winkle2 · 23/04/2012 18:28

Aw that's nice Hai!!
