I love this thread Smile

hopefulgum · 21/06/2012 00:31

oh, yes, Deige, climb aboard the ttc train....Glad they aren't whipping everything out, I think the 6 monthly smear is a sensible option. And make sure you do look after yourself so the virus doesn't flare up.

Maisie I love this thread too. It has helped me through many a dreadful moment.

LIfe is so busy at the moment. Taking on an extra day at work, plus doing online professional learning has meant I'm just buzzing from one thing to the next. It's crazy. School break in two weeks, for two weeks, looking forward to that. Wish I could fly off to somewhere warm (north) but don't think it'll happen. It's been exceptionally cold for us. 13 degrees celcius is actually really cold for us Aussies! Not very prepared for it.

Must dash, DH is reminding me of how much I need to do (while he sips his coffee, grrr...)before heading off to work.....Angry

Diege · 21/06/2012 09:33

Hi Gum wow life does indeed sound busy, and very interesting work-wise too! Yes, pretty pleased with smear outcome - could have been better but also a lot, lot worse, and I'm getting better at feeling content and coping with less than perfect (but perfectly fine) scenarios (something I've always struggled with). Think I'm happy watching the ttc train from the wings for now, though might out a request stop in at some point Wink I'm assuming you are very much still on the train?
Sending out positive vibes for fireflies and lol - looking forward to hearing updates!
Love to everyone else - sorry not to name check more but have a house of sick dcs, the hairdresser (I know, priorities) due any minute and I'm teachnically 'working from home'. If anyone knows how I can get 3 sick (read reluctant/unable to walk) children up a very steep hill (approx 2 mile trip there and then the same back) with only a double buggy, heavy rain and a non-compliant toddler who won't have the raincover on, please let me know!!! This is when I wish I'd kept up with the driving lessons Blush

somewherebecomingrain · 21/06/2012 13:56

Miasmummy very moving post. I'm just rooting for you totally. Diegeglad your results were ok-ish - i had abnormalities once and it was all ok. am getting excited about lol and 1000fireflies as getting my head round their stories. Fireflies went to 42 weeks! my goodness. gum big support to you. it's so hard i think knickyknocks did a really good post on it earlier in the thread about being thankful for what we've got but at the same time I hope you stay 'on the train' and there's lots of support here. irishmammy hello this is a really warm and welcoming thread i've only been here for about a week. helloeitaliangreyhound do you actually have one they're my favourite dogs along with whippets, greyhounds, salukis and afghan hounds. angelgeorgie i just found out I'm [censored] stone and i need to lose weight. how did you do it?

my news - had massive PMT after my period ended.... errrr? then wierd libido spikes. just wierd. now in the lovely calm seas pre-ovulation. completely off coffee - having about 5 cups of tea a day. feel fine - much better than i thought. eating carb-free lunches to keep myself awake in the afternoon, actually works better than coffee.

xx

AngelGeorgie · 21/06/2012 20:40

Somewhere I m at Slimming World ( extra easy) done WW. & SW before but this extra easy is fabulous xxxx

Diege · 21/06/2012 22:19

Another Slimming World fan here - I'm down to my pre-pregnancy weight now (this week) and have always found SW (for me) the only 'diet' where I actually feel stuffed at the end of the day but strangely ravenous when I wake up! I do green days (I'm a veggie) and have managed to lose the baby weight each time doing this plan Whether I keep it off is another thing!
Wonder how fireflies and Lol (who I'm sure is in labour) are getting on ??!!

hopefulgum · 21/06/2012 23:39

Somewhere, I found exactly the same thing - a low carb lunch and I didn't need a caffeine hit to keep me going. I'm a "Paleo/Primal" fan - I love this "diet" that isn't a diet and managed to shift a bit of weight on it. My DH has lost a lot of weight on it and he loves it because you can eat fat and meat. But we fill up on loads of vegies because there is absolutely no grain in the diet. I started it when I found out I had markers for an auto immune condition, and I worried that the condition might have caused my miscarriages (looks unlikely - probably just old eggs).Anyway, I started the diet because it is an anti-inflammatory diet and can be very good for fertility too.I avoid grain, pulses, sugar and certain fats like canola and vegetable oils. There's loads of info on the net.

Lately I have fallen off the wagon a bit - have been eating gluten free grains and sugar, and I'm wishing I hadn't, but I'm getting back into it,shall stop buying chocolate and eating gluten free cake. I feel so much better when I don't cheat.

Deige, yes, I think I am ttc, however it remains to be seen if I ever ovulate again. I'm taking my temperature again because after a miscarriage my cycle can be screwy.I never did tell DH about the last one. I just know his reaction would be to get another vasectomy (which we had reversed to have our last DS), whereas if I'm pregnant and it seems to be going to progress, he'll just accept it. However, I know I couldn't keep a later miscarriage from him, but hope that won't happen again.

Yes, I guess if we haven't heard from FF and Lol, then babies must be being born,or are here! Can't wait to hear.

hopefulgum · 21/06/2012 23:40

P.S. I think I'd be calling a taxi to get those kiddies up and down the steep hill.

somewherebecomingrain · 22/06/2012 09:30

I'll stick with the low-carb thing. I don't have much time to join a slimming club although I know they work. Maybe once I've given up TTC or had #2 I would be able to take on a slimming club. I don't think I'm fat enough for it to be affecting my fertility - I do lots of exercise. I'm just not what you could call slim.

gum Paleo diet - interesting. It's not as extreme as Atkins. I\ll check it out. DP needs to lose weight too but he's so into his chocolate and cakes. His family culture is sweet things = love.

Anyway this is not a wieght loss thread. I'm in the honeymoon phase now before ovulation so wittering on about lighthearted matters. I'll be absolutely a different person once I go into the conception/implantation/AF zone. I guess I should shut up until then.

yes diege don't know how you do it. amazing.

lolfactor · 22/06/2012 11:38

If I EVER have this baby, I'll head for Slimming World. Sounds brilliant! Thanks for the tip, guys.

Well, went to see the midwife (a grumpy cow - related to Diege's midwife, apparently) who said, 'but isn't your due date 26th June? Well, it HAD been until the dating scan corrected it to 19th - and I'd been temping/charting pretty regularly and felt that I was ovulating early (CD11/12) but then you never know when conception happens, do you? It could be a couple of days after, despite the SMEP. In which case, the due day could well be 24-26 and junior isn't late at all. Which, oddly, makes me feel much more positive. My body hasn't let me down - and I can never think it has as I'm being induced on 26th (Tuesday). Psychologically as winner Grin

FF had the induction pessary yesterday and seemed pretty chipper about the whole thing. Waiting with bated breath...

lolfactor · 22/06/2012 11:39

Meant 'a' winner - preghead!!!!

Diege · 22/06/2012 16:11

Hee hee, I saw your ref to grumpy cow midwife lol and thought of my mw before your reference to her Grin. Sounds like you might have a few more days of it yet then. How late (if at all) were your other dcs? At least the weather isn;t too hot..
INteresting somewhere, gum about low card diet. I'm generally high carbs, low fat, but do find that if I have a protein-rich meal I tend to stay fuller for longer. I get that mid-afternoon slump whatever I eat though!
Gum I think your plan sounds pretty sound, if a little stressful with the dh business. Having said that, I can see how it removes one load of stress from the equation not to get into the conversations again, and I'm sure he will be delighted with an established pregnancy. Just tough on you to have to shoulder it all (though we're here to do that too Grin.
Oh and braved the rain, forced ds1 into pram, made poorly dd walk, and we made it just in time, despite getting lost! Really wish this rain would stop now though!
Oh and special Friday night bistro in honour of fireflies and lol (well, mainly for lol as I'm sure fireflies won;t fancy it). Theme is Indian food (hot curry, get it!), so I am ordering veggie spring rolls to start, followed by tofu in black bean sauce and green peppers.

lolfactor · 22/06/2012 16:52

Oooo - yes please! I'll have a lamb rogan josh, spicy poppadoms and vegetable rice, please. Thinking of a sneaky small Wine Blush so please avert your eyes.

V brave of you facing the rain, Diege with everything stacked against you. I think I'd have booked my driving lessons there and then! Do you think you'll go back to them before your eldest is fighting you for the driver's seat?

somewherebecomingrain · 22/06/2012 18:07

Butter chicken, prawn Puri, lemon chicken, Chana masala peshwari naan mushroom. Baji

hippychick66 · 22/06/2012 18:33

Thanks, diege - you've made me fancy a curry for real now!!!! Naughty naughty you!!!! (BUT I loves ya anyway).

Diege · 22/06/2012 19:20

Right you greedy lot, chef is dealing as best as he can with the food, but as you have been told a thousand times good food takes time. I am having a Slimming World version (in rl) and I can tell you it is NOT the same.
Ahh driving lessons, don't get me started...have spend thousands, hated every minute, can't do it, not sure I would even use the car much (we cycle, train it, bus it , walk a lot as a family - we car share and use the car on average about once a month) So made a decision shortly after dd3 was born that I would give up unless the non-driving started to stop me doing things I wanted to do. So far it hasn't (apart from the rain incident!) and whenh there's no alternative I book a taxi. Works for me, though people are always very bemused Grin
Let's hope the curry does the job then lol (fireflies, I'll save you a portion).

kiwibabe · 22/06/2012 20:36

aaarrgghh frustrated, got a positive opk early, day 11 only positive one day, managed the deed on that day but as usual husband couldn't keep pace for a couple of days for luck!! On top of that lots of stresses, financial, work family health, sometimes think this is just not meant to be, but can't stop trying for that one little egg. Sorry just need to let off steam

gothinrecovery · 22/06/2012 21:10

Gum - hope you are okay, at least as far as possible.

Seems to be a real curry theme - waiting for one to turn up myself!

Sadly no luck for me this cycle. (TMI alert). First cycle post MC, think I ov'd just over 2 weeks ago (going by the usual signs), AF arrived today a couple days later than I would have expected. Weirdest cycle ever, had had minor spotting from about 3 days ago which was more like what I had pre MC than anything I usually get pre AF, also had weird taste in mouth and was running 'warm'. TBH would have suspected another possible (chem?) pg except had no boob soreness whatsoever, so suspect it is just the 'joys' of post MC hormonal weirdness. Oh well, I guess there's always next month! (in meantime pours big glass of shiraz and waits for curry to turn up)

gothinrecovery · 22/06/2012 21:12

kiwibabe - know what you mean about the stress - think here is a good place to let off steam.

hopefulgum · 23/06/2012 01:04

Morning all. Those curries sounded delish! I think I'm probably too late for the bistro, but perhaps I'll have leftovers for lunch?

I fear I may be getting the dreaded lurgy that everyone around here has had lately. I'm hoping it's just a cold, but feel a rapid decline into flu coming on. My friend was off work for two weeks and ended up with pnuemonia. I do hope I'll not go that way. I slept really badly - feeling very hot - cue thoughts of dreaded menopause Hmm, but have woken up with headache, aching bones and a head full of snot...bugger. Just because it is the weekend and the house is a wreck and my MIL is visiting. Don't know how I'll drag myself through the housework. Think my girls will have to step up...

Lol, perhaps your LO is just not ready to appear just yet. I know how difficult the last week/days can be, especially when the bump is huge. With Charlie, I just couldn't wait to meet the little boy that had been making me so uncomfortable. He came the day after his due date, and after several visits to the acupuncturist to get things started. I don't know if the visits helped, but at least I didn't get induced (which was scheduled 2 days after he came).

Gothinrecovery, sorry this cycle wasn't a bfp. Perhaps next cycle things will be back to normal. Mine has been extra long after the chemical. If I go by the second bleed (which came three weeks after the chemical, and wasn't AF as I was still getting positive preg tests til a few days before) then I should be a few days away from ovulating. But I won't count on it,going buy previous miscarriages. Anyway, the way I feel, there'll be no shagging til I feel better.

Italiangreyhound · 23/06/2012 02:58

Miaalexandersmummy so sorry to hear how sad and hard it is at the moment. Sad

huge hugs to Angelgeorgie*.

Thinking of you Hippy, Gum and all.

Welcome IrishMammy, Maisie, Goth and Kiwi and all others who are relatively new.

Diege thanks for asking. Hope you are well. I am happier; the big thing for me is that the desperation has gone. If adoption works out, great, if not, great. I am getting on with work and life and am happy. I love my DD so much and now knowing she may be my only child I actually feel I love her more! I wish I could have gotten into this place earlier but it just did not happen! The open day is in September. I am feeling more like I would be open to a boy of girl (having been quite keen on a girl ? just always imagined myself with two girls, but then I am one of two girls). But now feel much more open about that. Smile

Hi Somewhere - no I don?t really have an Italian greyhound, in fact I have not dog, just a hamster and also DD has decided she wants a snail! So went and found one in the street and called it ?Bob?. Poor thing is currently trying to escape the cardboard box. I will release him tomorrow! Wink

HUGE HUGS TO ALL.

10000fireflies · 23/06/2012 22:56

Evening all. On bb so can barely read this so keeping it short! Baby Boy Fireflies arrived 10pm 21 June, significantly on the longest day. Traumatic emcs, but all's well that ends well. He is gorgeous! Hugs to all and more of an update when back home in day or so.
