Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone is trying for baby number 2?

I've been 'sort of' trying for two months, but this month am really determined! I think i'm supposed to ovulate this wednesday, so BD'd today, yesterday... etc!!

I have a 15 month old DD....

Prop being thick but what does AF stand for? Can't work it out! Thanks.

madaboutmadmen · 25/01/2012 17:29

AF is Auntie Flo (your period) Grin

stabiliser15 · 25/01/2012 17:32

Thanks, realised it was your period but couldn't work out the abbreviation!

madaboutmadmen · 25/01/2012 17:35

yeah i took a while with that one, there's a link to a list of abbreviations on the 'talk' homepage. I'm still confused with half of them

stabiliser15 · 25/01/2012 18:42

Saw the link but it didn't appear to have AF when I looked! I know now though!

RichardAndJudysButtPlug · 25/01/2012 19:58

Sooty & Chunky - it is advised that you have sex every day around your fertile period. Well according to Fertility Friend anyway which is a FANTASTIC website for charting your cycle.

I don't chart my temps but have bought cheapy ovulation tests from t'internet and check cervical mucus and this works fine for me.

Chunkychicken · 25/01/2012 20:02

R&JBP thanks. Now to work out my fertile period... :o

Another quick q (I hope!) - what OPK do you use? I started another thread asking for recommendations for sticks to PO (can't link, on phone) and wondering what brands/types other TTC-ers actually use/recommend?

RichardAndJudysButtPlug · 25/01/2012 20:47

I am using these ones...

www.accessdiagnostics.co.uk/acatalog/new-advanced-lh-home-ovulation-tests-fertility.html

But I bought a bundle so got a few extra OPKs and pregnancy tests with Pregnacare conception vits. Def. good value compared to Boots etc.

bettergetamoveon · 25/01/2012 21:04

I've got those ones too RichardandJudys. I'm going to treat myself to the expensive ones for the first couple of months too though. Going to use the cheapies in the run up (in cas eI get the timing wrong) then the expensive ones at the time i think I ovulate. Pah, I'll see how I go.

Disappointed already tonight. I THOUGHT I was on CD1, but no, I have this weird brown spotting again. I get every few months and it's generally caused by too much exercise or strict diet/too much alcohol. I thought I had really started AF today so I'm disappointed I'm not even at the starting line yet Sad

Chunkychicken · 25/01/2012 23:01

Thanks R&JBP and I had that this month too Better (hope you don't mind the abbreviations). Glad you said that it was triggered by your diet/alcohol etc. because I've had a bad month through Christmas over-indulgence, a UTI and then getting Norovirus (although the latter was a GREAT way to lose the extra Xmas weight!!) so that probably didn't help my body know what it was meant to do. Hoping cycle #2 will be the magic number for us though.

Chunkychicken · 25/01/2012 23:02

Meant to add - probably not long now though Better and you'll be anguishing next month for a different reason!!!

ConfusedMumDotCom · 26/01/2012 07:35

Morning ladies. AF got me this morning, but I didn't think I was pregnant so not too Sad about it. I've got lots of cheese and wine and SWI to look forward too. GrinGrin

I hope you all have a great day.

turnwest · 26/01/2012 09:45

Sorry confused, hopefully you ll have better luck next month, meanwhile enjoy the cheese and wine! I think I might be out this month as well, AF is not due until a week on sunday but already i m having my usual mild stomach cramps and bloating. My one hope is that my egg has nt implanted yet and I could still be in with a shot, according to the OPK I did nt ovulate until tuesday. I think I have a very short luteal phase though, which will make conception difficult, according to my mad internet googling. I am so fed up.

bettergetamoveon · 26/01/2012 11:07

I'm so grumpy today. Definately on CD1 today so you were right Chunkychicken I'm now at the starting line.

There was a thread recently about the brown spotting and some girls said B vitamins helped them. I've started taking a multi-vit to try and help regulate. Need to stop drinking wine because I notice a big difference when I drink. I like wine Sad.

ConfusedMumDotCom I like your cheery optimism. This WILL be a good month.

stabiliser15 · 27/01/2012 08:10

Morning! Cross today, knew I was getting pre-menstral but as AF still hasnt turned up thought it would be worth POAS... negative. Not cross because it wasn't positive, cross because I knew it wouldn't be and still wasted a test anyway! Hey-ho. At least I have a Friday bottle glass of wine!

cherrybird1978 · 27/01/2012 10:27

Oh can I join here too? DH and I are ttc#2, I have pcos, lost a fallopian tube and have a spinal condition limiting the amount I can walk. My DD is 5 and was born very preemie at 27+4 hence the long wait before feeling strong enough to try again. I have started metformin to help regulate AF and have started on the folic acid. I have a feeling these next few months will be positive for many here.

RichardAndJudysButtPlug · 27/01/2012 14:30

Hello lovely ladies

Sorry to all those who unfortunately started their new cycle (I HATE abbr. 'AF'). Live it up a little this weekend and jump back on the wagon next week. You deserve it!

I am 2/3dpo (can't tell which as not charting temps - just using OPKs. I know it is far too early to be symptom spotting but my nips are killing me and I am all crampy in the ol' womb region. My womb feels all sensitive - like it is a bubble or something. I can't describe it any better than that. I couldn't get to sleep last night as am a habitual front sleeper and my nips and lower tummy region put paid to that.

Trying hard not to get hopes up but I do feel odd and am thinking 'am I dreaming it?' but I'm not. I know I can't be dreaming constant pain in my body.

Anyway we shall see. What will be, will be.

RichardAndJudysButtPlug · 27/01/2012 14:39

cherrybird - Hi. My son is 5 too!! A great age gap as not only can you spend loads of time with new baby as older child is at school but I think they appreciate having a brother/sister more when they are a bit older. I know for a fact that my son will be sooo chuffed.

I'm sorry abt your PCOS, fallopian tube etc issues. Here's hoping the Metformin works quickly :)

cherrybird1978 · 27/01/2012 19:28

Thank you RichardAndJudysButtPlug, your symptoms sound promising and it's hard not to get your hopes up so i'll keep everything crossed for you. I agree that it should be easier to juggle the attention with the age difference. Here's hoping for you.

lazzaroo · 27/01/2012 20:04

Hi! decided to join you all as we have decided to go for number 2 and I was trying to be all laid back about it but now starting to get impatient (and it's only been a couple of months!!). We fell pregnant first ttime round really quickly so keep preparing myself for that to have been a one off. DD is now 2. We were going to wait for a bigger age gap but work circumstances (redundancy!) have made us decide to 'just get on with it!'

I do also have days htough when I think we must be mad as we are still so sleep deprived with mumber 1! but then...may aswell be up with 2 as 1!

Hope someone has some positive news to share soon.

backwardLFDTpossom · 28/01/2012 19:19

Good luck, lazzaroo and everyone else. We've decided it's time to TTC for #2 - DS is 2 and a half. Am already obsessed and I haven't even had the coil removed yet. It's coming out next week Grin

Turkelton · 28/01/2012 23:49

Hi all Smile

we have decided to try again here too, will be pregnancy #2, DC #3 though as had twins the first time, they are now 2yr 4 months and we are feeling brave enough to go again. Getting my implanol removed Tuesday {{{eeeek!!}}}

RichardAndJudysButtPlug · 29/01/2012 08:16

Hi everyone

I am now 4/5dpo and my nips are getting progressively more sore - feel like they are bruised or burned. I am also having lots of cramping and creamy cm. Tell me...how am I not supposed to get my hopes with symptoms like this?

Need to keep telling myself that it might not happen.

sunshinejanuary · 29/01/2012 09:01

Hello,
We are trying TTC #2. althought #1 has a cold as has been up a lot in the night and I am not getting much sleep so I have a feeling my body is going to say no chance for a second this month!
I also think I would be ovulating this weekend and my DH is away, typical.
Still, we are trying in a fashion! This is our first month of trying.
R&JBP I am always the same, everything must mean I am pregnant! I got pregnant really quickly with DD and I think in my heart of hearts I think I will get prgnant really quickly again even though it has no rational basis. [waits for dissapointment emoticon]
Nice to meet you all!

CWest30 · 29/01/2012 09:03

Hi all, good to find an up to date thread, all the others are really old lol. We too are TTC for the 2nd time, (have a 4 yr old son), but no one warned me the second time doesnt run as smoothly as the first! Happened almost straightaway last time, came off the pill, had a fake bleed, then a normal period, then got pregnant. This time around, I came off the pill, had a fake bleed, then 2 mormal periods (27 days apart, I last came on on New Yrs Eve). So by my reckoning, I could be about 3 days late now. Have strong cramping down one side, and am very emotional, but thats about it. Have done 3 tests and all coming back negative so really confused. Never had a problem with irregular cycle or anything in the past, could always predict my period to the day and time! Sooooo frustrating, just feel like I'm going through the motions til my period/or a positive result happens. Been told that Boots own brand tests have a higher level of sensitivity so may get one of those tomorrow, but 2bh I'm fed up of getting my hopes up, AND wasting money on tests! Anyone else feel like this? And if not, just be warned that the second time is a lot harder, wish we had done it sooner now. Good luck to all, will keep you posted x
