Another new thread for some more serious metalling - we really are a chatty lot!

Here's to making it through the WTF cycle(s), metalling* like a teenager from the early '90s in the 2WW, BFP colds and other classic symptom spotting and hiding in the (nice and comfy) padded cell post BFP Grin

If you have miscarried and are ready to TTC again, come and join us!

  • For those currently wondering what our mosh pit antics have to do with ttc post MC, a fabulous typo in an earlier thread resulted in "mentalling" becoming known as "Metalling" - a far more fitting expression I am sure you will agree!

Welcome!

thanks manda!! will seduce him tonight!! not had any ewcm today but will carry on with the tests and swi.

fingers crossed for this month!

newtonupontheheath · 27/01/2012 18:19

I think when DS was born, I was also thinking "thank goodness I won't be getting heartburn again" and "ooo might sleep on my front tonight!" I too had a homebirth (would highly recommend it!!) and that strange feeling when the midwives had gone, DS was sleeping and DP was napping (as you do Hmm ) and I thought...what now?! I did love DS, but more I felt the need to watch over him. That wasn't until he started to give back-smile,coo, that I realised exactly how much I loved him.

So today has been busy, off work looking after a snotty DS. He was very very sick last night but hasn't been sick again so hope it was a one-off due to the sheer volume of snot Sad settling on his tummy.

Hope everybody is having a lovely Friday evening whether you've opted for a wine or a brew...I'm off tea,but could murder a fanta (rock and roll) Now got to catch up on work from today.... (TOO rock and roll, hey?)

RubyrooUK · 27/01/2012 21:19

Glad you got some answers coffee despite the sadness. Wishing you so much luck with this pregnancy and I think it is lovely and right to tell your DD when you are both so comfortable with sharing important things. X

maja80 · 28/01/2012 09:02

Just a quick one before I go away for a few days.

Thanks to everyone for the supportive messages re: BFN. Been spending some quality time with DH the last couple of days, best time we've had since mc in December. Despite not being preggie, I feel things are finally looking up.

I know some of you are going through a particularly difficult/uncertain/painful patch. I hope yo are finding the support you need both in RL & here. Sending you all kinds of good wishes and positive energy.

Special hugs for jaffa

Newton I did have that wine for you!!!! Rock the Fanta on, girlfriend!!!!

Have a good week end everyone! x

NoMoreMarbles · 28/01/2012 13:57

Goin anywhere nice maja? Smile glad things are feeling a bit better with DHSmile

How is everyone else on this most glorious of Saturday afternoonsGrin

MarthasHarbour · 29/01/2012 15:44

Ladies i am 39 today!! Grin Smile

Had a lovely weekend with my parents, some of the older posters on here will recall how insensitive my DM was when i had my CP in August last year - well she was so lovely on Friday night, saying to me that she hopes with all her heart that DH and I get what we really want this year, and that she knows how much it means to us to have another DC Shock Shock well i needed another G&T after that bombshell!! Hmm

I am CD28 and no sign of AF yet Hmm now i know that manda will be bullying encouraging me to POAS however i am feeling irrationally superstitious. My 10wk MC started on a Monday, my first CP started on a Monday and my CP last month started on a Monday..... you can see where i am going here, soooo given that i am in the WTF cycle i reckon i could start bleeding tomorrow, soooo i am going to test on Tuesday morning. That gets Monday out the way.

just skimmed the updates but i felt all warm for mscoffee i know there is still a risk but it looks like you are being so well looked after. hugs to you and your lovely family.

PieMistress · 29/01/2012 15:58

Happy Birthday Martha (!!) 39 ain't so bad (it's the thought of my looming 40th this summer which is already feeling painful!) Wink

I hear you with superstitions, as much as I want you to test hang on till Tuesday, that is too many Monday nastys! Are you still taking the B Vits? Also (from my own research and lurking on other threads on here) D3 is also supposed to be a miscarriage preventer (especially as we don't get nearly enough sunshine at the moment). If you google, loads of positive things come up. I'm taking 25mg liquid drops from H&B (the drops are 5ml each so you can take as little as you want). In fact i'm sure D3 is part of the sure start vitamins that the midwives give out (with Vitamin C and Folic Acid).

After a very lovely day yesterday today is truly minging. DP has taken DS swimming whilst i'm at home cooking gammon and home made chips for tea :) Oh and listening to some quality old tunes from my clubbing days Grin

One colleage keeps asking me if i'm pregnant (which IMHO is quite rude, even if I suspected somebody was I wouldn't ask them) although to be fair it's glaring obvious (to me!). Guess I need to come out soon but it's my appraisal in the next 2 weeks and I'd rather not scupper my chances of a decent pay rise (not that I get decent maternity pay anyway only SMP) or promotion. Am now in maternity tights though

I struggle to keep up with everybody on this thread! Can we have an updated roll call pls?

Thinking of everybody, Pie xx

madaboutmadmen · 29/01/2012 16:34

PieMistress, just wondering what B vits you are taking? B6, B12 etc? how much do you need exactly as I'm taking a pregnancy multivitamin so don't want to overdo it? Thanks.

PieMistress · 29/01/2012 16:46

Hi mad, I was taking an extra 50mg of B6 in addition to what what in my pregnancy vits for the 1st trimester. I'm sure it helped boost my progesterone and help me conceive as i've been having crappy CD21 results for a while. I think they say that you should be taking approx the same quantity across the board of B vits to prevent becoming deficient in one. I was taking Zita West's Vitafem for the first tri (plus the extra B6) then cut back off the extra B6 over the course of a couple of weeks after that. From what i've read it can't do any harm as any excess is wee'd out your system (hence the bright yellow wee!) xcx

madaboutmadmen · 29/01/2012 16:57

Thanks Pie that's great, off to get some tomorrow Smile

Tiago · 29/01/2012 17:45

Happy birthday Martha. Glad to hear that there's no sign of AF and fingers crossed you get through to Tuesday. No sign of AF here either, but I doubt I'd notice over the lemsip and general grottiness. I was stupid enough to work last weekend -or most of it- and then do a 15 hour day on Monday. Am certainly paying for it now!

MandaHugNKiss · 29/01/2012 20:03

Happy Birthday Martha, me ol' Mucker!

I too shall be 39 this year (albeit not until November Grin) but I reckon we are fab and hot and all that jazz... so yeah for 39!

NoMoreMarbles · 29/01/2012 20:11

Happy birthday marthaGrin

Good luck with testing on Tuesday Smile

bonzo77 · 29/01/2012 20:35

happy birthday marta and fingers x for Tuesday (I do get the monday thing). Help yourself to home made millionaires shortbread (sorry the chocolate is all cracked, not sure why) and scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam....

Having a metalling moment today... am 8 DPO and had some very minor cramps today and yesterday. Which are obviously implantantion pains (I had them with DS and the mmc pg, so I know what I'm talking about Hmm. And have just found that the pg tests from poundland have 02 2012 as the expiry date. Just begging for me to POAS! Somebody come round here and burn them for me to make me wait at least a week!by which time the ones I've ordered on amazon will be here

bonzo77 · 29/01/2012 20:36

by which time the ones I've ordered on amazon will be here FFS

madaboutmadmen · 29/01/2012 20:47

they won't expire til the end of Feb, so you don't need to use them up yet. i got a positive (very very faint) 5 days before AF was due with the strips you get on Amazon. the temptation is too much....

newtonupontheheath · 29/01/2012 20:52

bonzo my philosophy on that would be,they're going to expire anyway...use them, they will be bfn but comfort yourself in the fact that a. It's WAY too early to test and b. You've not wasted your pound Grin that's what I'd do

Probably not very helpful, but it's the most I can muster this time on a Sunday Smile

Happy birthday martha hope you have gorged yourself in cake! Well done for deciding to wait until Tuesday. I'll be back to check for your BFP Wink

Well, my weekend has deteriorated. Didn't catch up on any work and although DS has recovered (a minor victory!) I've caught his cold and seem to have acquired a blocked duct. I'm hoping it not mastitis but With this cold, I'm looking out for feeling achy etc.... In fact, I'm heading off to the bf threads to check what I should be looking out for. Sad Just hoping its the fault of all the pregnancy hormones racing around my body, and if it is, I will quote happily bask in the symptoms as promised myself any symptoms were good before I got my BFP!

bonzo77 · 29/01/2012 21:23

DH said 02 2012 meant start of feb, and of course he would know, being a pharmacist Hmm, but then we do eat out of date food a lot in this house..... and if i'm throwing them away then I might as well wee on them first! Well, I did wee on one (well, weeed in the measuring jug I use to rinse DS's hair and dipped it in). Obviously its a BFN, however...... that is also good news, because it would be a bit unusual to get a BFP so early, but a BFN only 3 weeks after the ERPC is a good thing, sort of confirms that my body is getting back to normal (actually I think I had a BFN 5 days after, but I only glanced at the strip then chucked it).

bonzo77 · 29/01/2012 21:26

bollocks, and have just googled and found that it is the first day of the stated month. Poo. Now I will have to wee on them before throwing them away.

newtonupontheheath · 29/01/2012 21:27

I love "if I'm throwing them away, I might as well wee on them first" Grin of course it was a bfn....we knew it would be, it's too early Wink and now you can bin them safe in the knowledge that you got your moneys worth. (poor your DS and his wee-jug now!! Grin )

BlueCrane · 29/01/2012 22:02

Evening all!

Sorry to have missed providing marthas birthday breakfast this morning but hope you are suitably full of cake and so glad your DM seems to be more positive Smile and well done in waiting for Tuesday...hope tomorrow doesn't drag toooo much!!

I am shattered but that's my own silly fault for staying up too late boogieing at a wedding with old uni friends last night and then being up early to travel home this morning...even my afternoon nap on the sofa doesn't seem to have cut through the tiredness, but I have the morning off tomorrow so think a lie in is on the cards!

I will try and do a full name check tomorrow but couldn't not pop on and say Happy Birthday to martha Smile

Right...off to bed!

madaboutmadmen · 29/01/2012 22:04

ooooo you learn something new every day, always thought it was the end of the month. oh well it's not killed me yet Wink

bonzo77 · 29/01/2012 22:07

DS will cope newton. I've been weeing in his jug since we started TTC last march! DH confirms it's OK, I do rinse it after.

Tiago · 30/01/2012 04:26

:) So, it's twenty past four in the morning and I am totally unable to sleep. I am tired as hell (and look shocking according to the bathroom mirror) but my stinking cold means I can't drop off! Grrr

I'm also metalling with the best, as AF is still not here, much to my surprise, with the result that I am getting all hopeful now. If she's not in residence by the end of the day I will be joining martha with the POAS on Tuesday. I was going to do it today, but I also dislike Mondays for that.

Thanks for the cake - delicious.

InsomniaQueen · 30/01/2012 08:42

Morning all - so its monday again and its pants.......but I have been reminded by DH that I have 6 working days left and then I don't have to think about it for over a year.......that did make me Grin!!! Thank you all for your lovely words and support - I really needed them and hearing it from others makes me feel slightly more normal!!!

pebs how are you getting on with the opk's??? I bought cheap ones from ebay as I knew I would become obsessed use quite a few and didn't want to literally be peeing my money away. Still have a big stack of them though and not really sure what to do with them all!!!

moomins sorry there wasn't much swi but hopefully the teething and bugs will be kept at bay so that you can have a good go next cycle!! Xx

manda hope your tummy is ok again.....my mum says its always a nice way to 'flush the system' - she is an odd woman though Smile

newton glad to hear your little one is a lot better but sorry your now feeling unwell. I've had non pregnancy related mastitis and it was bloody painful so I dread to think what it would be like with a boob full of milk - hoping its not that though.

maja hope you had a nice few days!!! And its lovely to hear that you and DH having been enjoying time together again. Been hinting to DH about taking me away but don't think he is getting it.

martha happy birthday for yesterday!!! I shall be thinking of you tomorrow when you test - I'm massively keeping it all crossed for you!!!!

pie tell your colleague to butt out, bloody nosey parker!!!! I think waiting for the appraisal is a good idea - then at least you know where you stand plus it gives you a little bit longer before you have to out yourself at work!!

bonzo scones are my favorite thing at the moment.....yay!! As for peeing on a stick - glad to see you got your moneys worth if nothing else Grin!!

tiago what cycle day are you on now?? I shall be eagerly awaiting you and marthas results tomorrow!! Also hope you feel better soon.....I seem to be getting a nice lergy as well.

blue I know what you mean about tired.....could easily just go back to sleep now but as I'm already running behind I suppose I better get myself and get cracking!!

Thinking of you jaffa and hope that you are taking good care of yourself!! Xxx

Love to all xxx
