Another new thread for some more serious metalling - we really are a chatty lot!

Here's to making it through the WTF cycle(s), metalling* like a teenager from the early '90s in the 2WW, BFP colds and other classic symptom spotting and hiding in the (nice and comfy) padded cell post BFP Grin

If you have miscarried and are ready to TTC again, come and join us!

  • For those currently wondering what our mosh pit antics have to do with ttc post MC, a fabulous typo in an earlier thread resulted in "mentalling" becoming known as "Metalling" - a far more fitting expression I am sure you will agree!

Welcome!

actually blue you stay in bed, you have had a frantic 24 hours!

BlueCrane · 19/01/2012 10:21

Morning!!

Well, I spent most of the evening coughing as the burnt chilli-ness had caught in the back of my throat...fun! It was a scary time when the fire happened a few years ago but made us realise the importance of smoke alarms in the bedroom (living in a flat the main smoke alarm was in the hallway but the bedroom door is a fire door so by the time the smoke would've got to that alarm I would've been too far unconscious to respond to it Shock ).

Random thought but has anyone heard from pebs since her trip to Oz? I'm thinking she's due back already/soon??

Loving the symptom spotting going on girls...

marthas must've been v tough holding your friends LO...I must confess that when the girl from work who was due the same day I would've been came in with her 4 weekd old LO I didn't pop down to say hello...decided that avoidance would just be the best tactic, but obviously not appropriate with a close friend!

kels my work place is mostly male but this last year it would seem that a large proportion of the few ladies here are sporting bumps and going off on mat leave...was v difficult before I got my bfp again but even now is quite irritating as I was looking forward to being 'one of a kind' IYSWIM and now just feel part of a big group that just gets lumped together with little individual attention!

misscoffee the dates and reminders are v v tough. Hope time with the IL's in more bareable that expected.

Right...back to work

MarthasHarbour · 19/01/2012 10:34

blue i too have a colleague who was due on the same day as me, she gave birth that day too. when i was still PG we were chatting and she was moaning that 'this one wasnt planned' Angry to be fair she was so lovely when i had the MC, i could tell she was shifting uncomfortably when talking about it. i too wont be overly keen on meeting her li'l boy if she comes in Sad

Helps self to slice of cake. It is 11.03!

MandaHugNKiss · 19/01/2012 11:45

Cake? Maybe... after the salad I've sent Df for. Had two already this week - Pret's Itailian Chicken salad is just doing it for me... and as I'm bloody ravenous (can't seem to eat dinner lately as got terrible heartburn/acid reflux) I'm literally drooling waiting for it.

I wonder who our bfp will be this month. We seem to get at least one a month!

And, yes, where is peb? We wanna hear about Oz and all the swi

MarthasHarbour · 19/01/2012 11:56

Manda I work right next door to Pret and you have now got me salivating (i love their hummus salad - am not a veggie i just love it!). Hmmm Greggs-v-Pret (have already been to Pret this morning for my cwoffeeee)

Just.want.food.

MandaHugNKiss · 19/01/2012 12:39

Oooh, now there's a deathmatch - Greggs vs Pret! I reckon that it takes a certain person to appreciate them both. I mean, I grew up on a crappy council estate, but then went to secondary school in a 'posh' area and moved into that area when I was 18 (been there ever since, so 20 odd years). I love the crapness of greggs (sausage and bean melt ) and I love the freshness/quality of pret (omg, the tomato soup is heavenly!) but there's only one way to decide which is better...

FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!

The salad was gorgeous but then I... (and I blame blue for this) started thinking I wanted a huge slab of lemon drizzle cake. And all I had that was remotely like that was bloody Jaffa cakes (cake or a biscuit? Quite the puzzle) so I naturaly ate half a packet.

And now I feel sick.

BlueCrane · 19/01/2012 12:51

Oops manda sorry about the cake thing...though all your talk of Pret salads quite put me off my homemade one which tasted awful when I tried it so now I've had to buy a cheese and ham panini from the canteen...not had one from there before and it's yummy, so could be a dangerous discovery Smile

I also grew up in much more Greggs-ville than Pret-ville but aside from the sticky buns would definitely take Pret over Greggs now!

MarthasHarbour · 19/01/2012 13:11

I also grew up in Greggs-Ville Council Estate, and didnt discover Pret till i moved to Laarndon. I am now in a posh town in t'north and get my morning cwoffee from blue pret but do adore the lardiness of the cheese pastie

Greggs won in the end!!

NoMoreMarbles · 19/01/2012 13:27

AfternoonSmile

I had a cystoscopy today[bleurgh] as I am feeling a little delicate I have made choc fudge cake and a fresh pot of Brew and some honey and mustard chicken and salad for lunchSmile

Still spotting here and holding off testing til tomorrow...

Hope all are okSmile

MissCoffeeNWine · 19/01/2012 15:24

You guys have made me HUNGRY and I have no idea what to have. I just had a ham salad with some mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes, then an apple. What would go well after that? No chocolate fudge cake here :(

Hope you're feeling better after your cystoscopy marbles

martha Becks is what I sent him for, Kaliber is what he turned up with.

I love Greggs and Pret. But I remember when Greggs was Thurstons

Some numbers for today.

7 days until our consultant appointment
6 weeks pregnant tomorrow
5 times I've picked up the phone to ring the doctor/MW and bottled it
4 scans is what I want to be offered (8,12,16,20)
3 months since we lost mini-toe
2 angel babies
1 mosh pit

And now that's over, someone kick me repeatedly or tell me what to say to scary receptionists or who to ask for an appointment with or SOMETHING because I'm metalling about it a lot.

MarthasHarbour · 19/01/2012 15:46

Right then, try not to lose it with scary receptionists, my mother used to be one and would deliberately not help the ones who lose it. Stay calm and focussed and you will be fine

Can i just have a full on metallica moment please...

...I have stretchy pains across my tum and lower back, and have creamy white mucus Blush TMI! And only CD18. Christ only knows when i OVd as it could have been Sunday or Tuesday Hmm

Loving the yellow pee with the B100s, can you remember when we were saying that when your hcg goes up then you should get blue wee!! if only Grin

MissCoffeeNWine · 19/01/2012 15:48

Stretchy good or stretchy bad?

Remember I spent the week before the week I got my BFP curled round a hot water bottle and complaining on here about cyst pain Blush

MissCoffeeNWine · 19/01/2012 15:50

And you know, with the amount of sticks you lot some people pee on, I wouldn't be surprised if we started to evolve some blue wee while pregnant, or some other built in pregnancy indicator, maybe a little window by yur vadge that lights up 'pregnant' or 'not pregnant' Grin

NoMoreMarbles · 19/01/2012 16:15

marthas good symptomsGrin

What's this B100 everyone mentions all the time?Smile DH and I have decided that 2012 will be the last serious TTC year as that will be a nice round 5 years trying thenHmm might as well give it the clappersWink and make it count

MarthasHarbour · 19/01/2012 18:20

mscoffee they were good stretchys actually, have stopped now but i have ordered some ICs from amazon so will be peeing like mad next week!!

marbles i have been taking them for a week now, i think they are like a well woman thing, i have been told on here they are good for improving the quality of ones egg! far and manda will be on in a bit to fully educate you

Wine anyone? well it is my weekend now!

MissCoffeeNWine · 19/01/2012 18:32

Oh I'd LOVE some Wine!

Work tomorrow though and then the ILs-fest. Hurrah.

I'm achey-crampy all of a sudden so on frantic knicker-watch and have already started thinking about what will happen if we have to TTC again next month Blush

newtonupontheheath · 19/01/2012 18:33

I have little to add as per usual as a. I've no time to bake of late and b. I should be working!
But what I will say is this...I worked for Greggs for five whole years (first job at 16, through college and Uni) and cheese and onion pasties are and will always be the best hangover cure Grin Although I should be more up market these days, I'm not and have even been known to partake in a sausage and bean pastie even though I'm not even allowed to eat pork any more innit Blush

NoMoreMarbles · 19/01/2012 18:35

It's my weekend too martha Grin I booked 2days off work to recover from the cystoscopy as I was told I would be very uncomfortable after it and in reality it was no worse than a smearSmile so I now have 3work free days aheadGrin WINNING!

I am going to concentrate on losing some weight and getting some health back in meSmile should really have already started as I go away for my birthday this year (I'm 30Grin this year) but hey ho better late than neverSmile

newtonupontheheath · 19/01/2012 18:51

Sorry x-post with coffee Hope you are feeling better soon...

And you have my sympathy re ILs. I truely dread visiting as I do not care to discuss why I'm not married to DP, again. (that's a whole thread in itself!)

bonzo77 · 19/01/2012 20:03

Had lunch at Pret on Tuesday as took DS to the London Transport Museum, and their he loves their tuna sandwiches (provided of course I remove all green bits from them). But actually would have found a Gregg's sausage roll much more satisfying and economical. But due to some slightly hypocritical ideas about raising DS (and any future DCs) with the traditional upbringing I and DH had we don't eat pig in front of DS. So will have to hide with one another time.

Not sure about any IL back stories as have not read previous threads...but can well imagine that there are plenty to add to the general rubbish we have been putting up with. I could add my own. The question would be which one.

Obviously this is meant to be a WTF cycle, with my ERCP on 5th Jan. But because I am a dick I got the OPKs out a few days ago. So today is day 14 and I got a +ve OPK. Which is actually slightly earlier (by 3 days) than my last cycle. So here goes with the SWI. The metalling just doesn't stop. Are we idiots to be doing this? Will the ERPC have made my womb all fresh and tidy for a new baby (thinking nicely made bed with clean sheets etc), or stripped it dry (like sleeping on a bare mattress)?

JaffaSnaffle · 19/01/2012 20:18

Hello Ladies, I am having a huge metal here. Had my results back and although they are in the 'normal' range they are low. My GP said he was concerned. Have next round of tests on Monday, with the results Tues pm, which should give a more conclusive picture. And I have some abdominal discomfort today, which is partly due to panic, but very worried that this is the end. It could also be ectopic. Sorry this is a me me me post. I know the odds are against me now, but I don't want to lose another one. X

NoMoreMarbles · 19/01/2012 20:42

jaffa could you be a little earlier than you think? i will cross my fingers for you that the results have more than doubled by mondaySmile {{{hugs}}}

misslaughalot · 19/01/2012 21:00

Hi lovely ladies! Well after being around on MN a lot last autumn I decided to have some time away after my ERPC at the end of Nov...but now I'm back and ready to mingle.

Looking forward to ttc again, supposed to be ovulating this weekend but depends on whether my cycle has settled yet...probably not but it's great fun practising anyway. Not sure how I'll feel if we make it to a BFP again, took 5 months of trying last time. Glad to have you guys to air my crazy thoughts with...really savedme from going completely crazy last time.

So what's everyone up to?!

MarthasHarbour · 19/01/2012 23:27

welcome misslaughalot stick with this thread 'tis fabulous

jaffa holding your hand, fingers crossed for the tests xx

sorry for the mememe post but i have been in tears tonight (mainly due to Wine) as DH is out, i watched an episode of Pan Am (where the ginger bird's yugoslavian boyf had to go home - i was in floods!)

i have also taken action re the FB good friend, i love her to bits but her constant 'i am pregnant' FB comments and posts are really fucking me off, i have blocked her from my news feed, i feel so guilty as she is lovely but is also very self absorbed, there were two (yes two) posts tonight, completely irrelevant posts turned into yells of 'i am pregnant' 'i am fat and pregnant hahahahaha' aaarrrrrggghghhhhh Confused Hmm Angry
