Another new thread for some more serious metalling - we really are a chatty lot!

Here's to making it through the WTF cycle(s), metalling* like a teenager from the early '90s in the 2WW, BFP colds and other classic symptom spotting and hiding in the (nice and comfy) padded cell post BFP Grin

If you have miscarried and are ready to TTC again, come and join us!

  • For those currently wondering what our mosh pit antics have to do with ttc post MC, a fabulous typo in an earlier thread resulted in "mentalling" becoming known as "Metalling" - a far more fitting expression I am sure you will agree!

Welcome!

Hi all, it's been a week since my mc at 6 weeks. Just had blood tests this morning which confirm everything has gone back to normal, nurse says everything is healthy and fine, so if it's all ok, then why was it not ok?! DP wants to try again asap but I'm not sure I can. The nurse said try sooner rather than later as you're more fertile after having a mc? Is this true? I've not heard of it? Either way, I'm feeling down today.
Congrats Mrseltoe! xx

MsEltoeNWhine · 06/01/2012 14:39

I've taken it off. Sorry tiago and far, I didn't mean to make it worse. I do understand.

Ferrero Rocher?

farfallarocks · 06/01/2012 14:42

mseltoe really sorry that is not what I meant at all!! I am sorry if that is what you thought. Honestly, you have been through so much you totally deserve this (not that anyone doesn't!!)

Please put your BFP back on? But if its a girl you have to call her Lady Sybil ok?

crystal apparently there is some research about being more fertile after MC, something to do with extra progesterone? However, just as a warning, I got all pysched about it and was devasted when AF arrived the month later, almost cried as much as the month before so don;t get your hopes up too much and don;t worry if it takes a while for everything to get back to normal.

MsEltoeNWhine · 06/01/2012 14:55

Sybil Grin

Like Sybil Fawlty Grin

No ;)

Tiago · 06/01/2012 15:05

MsEltoe - I didn't mean to imply that your BFP made me feel bad, please do keep it on your profile. I used to post but after my second MC, plus combined with stress at work and the fact that my family members were showing an alarming tendency to die...I disappeared for a bit.

It was partly because I was still counting in my head (i.e. I 'should be 8 months now'). I really am very happy for you :)

One day I will be posting my own BFP!

farfallarocks · 06/01/2012 15:09

Ok then, another Downton Abbey name though, because of when you conceived :)

PieMistress · 06/01/2012 15:27

I don't even watch Downtown Abbey? Am I missing something great here? Currently engrossed in Season 4 of Dexter though :)

Welcome back Tiago, sorry to hear things have been shit the past few months - have you been to a fertility clinic, did they suggest IVF??

Moominsarescary · 06/01/2012 16:15

buggerlugs I lost the baby 15 weeks ago at 20 weeks due to incompetent cervix, I can't believe I still haven't got a consultants app

Moominsarescary · 06/01/2012 16:22

Phones playing up, appointment!

Is downton abbey good then, I've thought about buying a box set of the first series.

farfella it's funny you should say that, the only time I've found it easy to get pregnant is after a mc or giving birth

Within two months of mc I became pg with ds3 and within two months of him being born I was pg with ds4 who I lost in September , think I might have left it too late this time though. It usually takes me over a year for a bfp

farfallarocks · 06/01/2012 16:42

oh moomin I am so sorry you still have not had an appointment, you poor thing, it just makes a hard situation much worse. I am sorry it has take you a year before to get a BFP as well although apparently that is very normal as well.

Downtown is fab, love it, used to look forward to Sunday nights because of it but then I am quite sad

MarthasHarbour · 06/01/2012 21:12

Laydeees

First of all massivo congrats to mseltoe - i had a gander at your BFP and it is definitely two lines whoop whoooooop!!

and yes i struggle with all the pregnancy announcements at the mo but strangely the ones on this thread dont bother me one jot - because we are all in the same situation and are so supportive. and most of all bloody deserve it!

BTW i am a big fan of Downton Abbey and have subliminally encouraged DH to call our next baby Matthew if it is a boy! (because i am besotted with Dan Stevens/Matthew Crawley)

So i have registered with fertility friend, i know we said no temping but i have figured (as manda and blue said) it is not a bad thing that i am testing early as this is giving me the indication that something IS wrong. I also tested this morn and got a BFN Sad so that bean has definitely buggered off!

But as DH said - we need to have lots of sex this month to catch that bean! we have also decided that during the 2WW we are definitely eating and drinking as if i am pregnant to try our best to avoid a CP

maja15 · 07/01/2012 10:07

First of all: massive congratulations to mseltoe!!! Whop, whop!

Welcome shakemyhead and all the newbies. As the others said, sorry you had to find yourselves here but it's a good place to metal, chat and get sound advice. I for one, thank manda and others for their tip on Vitamin B100. The post-mc-multi-ailment demon seems to have left my body, I'm feeling reasonably ok physically & don't need to call an exorcist anymore :o

I am meant to ov this week end but DH has a massive cold. I've been forcing convincing him to DTD the last few days but I'm starting to feel a bit cruel...(not really). Anyone due to POAS around the 22nd of Jan?

newtonupontheheath · 07/01/2012 10:38

Me me! Wanna be my buddy? Wink

I did the same with DP last month maja he had man flu a cold and told him dtd would make him feel better. But then he had two stitches in his side and "physically" couldn't do it. I reckon the reason I didn't get a BFP was because we didn't dtd on the right days because of his bloody stitches!!

newtonupontheheath · 07/01/2012 10:39

Oh oh and huge congratulations to mseltoe on your BFP Grin

Newton and Maja - I too am due to POAS on 22nd..... If I can hold off that long! May I join you?

MsELtoe Awesome, awesome news, what a fab thing to happen after some truly crappy times and it gives us all a bit more hope xx

I'm having a weird few days, I'm on CD14 and have just in the last few days started to chart my CM on fertility friend - waiting for a thermometer to arrive from amazon as we speak! But thus far nothing that could even loosely be described as EWCM... Then, DH and I DTD this morning (5 times this week!) and I had a lot of light pink bloody discharge (tmi sorry!!). I'm not sure what's going on! Any ideas? I have a feeling though I may have had a CP just before Christmas - after the ERPC in November we just carried on DTD as normal once the bleeding had stopped... I didn't POAS still my period was due 22 dec and got a +ve, convinced myself I had preg symptoms but -ve test on Christmas eve and AF turned up Christmas day... Could a CP cause this odd bleeding?? .... Trying not to convince myself that I ov early and it's imp bleeding... I convince myself daily that I'm with child again!Grin

PieMistress · 07/01/2012 11:42

kelbells apparantly pink discharge can be a very fertile ovulation sign (according to the 'Taking charge of your fertility' book so sounds like you have some well timed SWI there! :)

maja15 · 07/01/2012 12:07

newton & kells.... looking forward to POASing together! I was also wondering if I would be able to hold off that long but then I gave myself a good talking to and decided to wait to stop myself for going mentaler I will wait until the 22nd if you guys do :o

bugs I know what you mean about first AF after mc. I was a pit pissed off (well, always am when it comes) but it was also a relief and hopefully will help schedule intensive TTC. Also had a cold at the same time and felt generally crap but I think that's just the battering our immune systems took after mc. F*ck the diet, dude, this is time for TLC and looking after yourself.

Kelbells · 07/01/2012 12:28

Pie Oooh.... Just what I needed to hear Grin.... Cheered me up no end!

Maja it's like having the opposite of a gym buddy... Motivating us NOT to go! I think I'll be able to hold on knowing I'm not alone.... Unless you convince me two convince me to enter that bathroom early Wink

Kelbells · 07/01/2012 12:40

Bug I'm about 2 weeks ahead of you in the first AF after MC department, fab news that your cycle is getting back to normal so quickly. I concur with my learned friend... Sod the diet, treat yourself, get back to full health after your immune system has taken the kicking of its life, eat a tangerine and then a Terry's chocolate orange Smile, hope you've been able to get back on your bike as you'd hoped!

newtonupontheheath · 07/01/2012 13:05

Bugs Sorry you are feeling so crap. First AF is horrible but a the others say, there are positives re your cycle being back to normal. Have a wine or two this weekend and treat yourself -no diet, gym or any of the other new years resolution type things. Then have lots of lovely, well timed swi Smile

I hate posting from my phone as I had other things to say and now I can't remember what they were!! I'm trying to use DS's nap time productively Grin Trying to getting him sleeping through the night at the moment and he is doing really well (ish) but has been up at 5:30 yesterday and 4:45 today so has had a 2 hour nap!!! Angry and also

MarthasHarbour · 07/01/2012 14:48

Just taken my first vit b100 and the caplet is huge! Did someone on here say you can dissolve them in water? I hate gagging on big tablets.

Did my first temp too. I will link my chart when I have a few on there Smile

martha the 50mg are much smaller! You could buy those and take 2 instead? I used to only take one though as there are lots of B vitamins in the conception vits too xx

MsEltoeNWhine · 07/01/2012 22:13

I ventured onto the Pregnancy threads.

Remind me not to do that again.

My mind tells me this tiny bean has a 1/3 chance of becoming a real baby and sees three ways of it coming out - Rivers of Gore a la my first, big headed dead alien like my third, or screaming, bright red baby (like DD).

Was awake all night last night worrying about it. My brain is telling me I can cope with Rivers of Gore and I can cope with a real life baby but I don't think I can cope with the baby alien option, not again. Can't think it has any more than a one in three chance.

Seems totally rational yet I know it's likely completely irrational.

Save me Blush I'm beginning to get symptoms too and can't seem to put it out of my head.
