Another new thread for some more serious metalling - we really are a chatty lot!

Here's to making it through the WTF cycle(s), metalling* like a teenager from the early '90s in the 2WW, BFP colds and other classic symptom spotting and hiding in the (nice and comfy) padded cell post BFP Grin

If you have miscarried and are ready to TTC again, come and join us!

  • For those currently wondering what our mosh pit antics have to do with ttc post MC, a fabulous typo in an earlier thread resulted in "mentalling" becoming known as "Metalling" - a far more fitting expression I am sure you will agree!

Welcome!

sorry martha I meant just acupuncture, I didn't take any chinese pills or potions!

MarthasHarbour · 03/01/2012 13:44

so much good advice and support here Thanks

manda your mini break sounds like lots of fun, oo and lovely spa treats how fabulous! and i agree that you can start and relax not-metal-too-much the more time goes on.

i forgot to mention, i met up with a friend over xmas who is preggy with no3, now i was all excited and happy for her until she started moaning about it Angry she was all 'oh when i did the test i went mad - we didnt plan it at all, i felt like a naughty 17 year old' yada yada yada i wanted to punch her face in! Wink Grin

MarathonMama · 03/01/2012 14:46

Hello all! Thought I'd pop on to see how you're all doing and see there has been some good news and some not so good news.

Martha I am so Angry for you, I can't believe you've had another CP. What a bloody pain. I hope you're ok, it's good to see you being so positive about it. There is some good in that you're managing to conceive and I'm sure it will stick soon. Talking to the doc can't do any harm in the meantime and may provide some answers.

Baby, Poppy and Pie so excited for you all, glad things are going well.

IQ how are you feeling? I'm starting to struggle now, so tired after a day with this massive bump and a toddler. I'm a bit in denial about what's coming as I haven't sorted anything out yet!

Blue, Manda, MissG hope you're all doing well too?

It's good to see everyone still here. It's also nice to see some newbies, I hope you all get some better news soon. This thread is great for moving on and looking to the future.

DD is screaming so better go and give her some milk. Just wanted to pop on to say hi and Happy New Year! Grin

MsEltoeNWhine · 03/01/2012 15:07

I'm sorry Martha :( but so much good advice.

You've all got me wanting to take B100 and aspirin even though I don't think it'd make any difference to my doofus uterus. Different strategy required I reckon. Any ideas? Staple it shut? Grin

Well I'm in a lot less pain now but have spent to day trying to get through to the post mortem people and the doctors with no luck at all. Urgh. I know it's THAT January day where everyone has a list of people to ring but still.

Heard my DD telling her friends about our baby over Christmas, saying her Mummy and Daddy made another baby with sex but it died inside Mummy's tummy and prodding them till they said it was sad. I think I could use just about every smiley right about here Blush Sad Grin

MarthasHarbour · 03/01/2012 15:21

Big jumping up and down and waves and hugs to marathon i havent seen you in aaaaages! Smile yep it is pretty shite about my CP, my cramps are awful today too Angry but it is lovely to hear from you, glad to hear you are rather-disorganised like me getting all ready for the impending arrival!

mseltoe your DD sounds like a delight - i too would ensure i got all of my friends sympathy on behalf of my mamma!! what an angel Smile

Poppyjen · 03/01/2012 15:22

Marthas that is utterly and completely rubbish, I am so sorry. Everyone has already given the advce I would have, but all I can say is B100 seems to have helped me so may be worth a try.

Re temping I think it is very useful if you have wayward cycles and you aren't sure when ovulation happens but if you are pretty regular you may not find it very helpful (may just add to the metalling) as Manda said. But if you fancy it I will also be very happy to answer any questions etc Smile

MsEltoe your post about your DD made me smile a wry smile... Sad but also Grin at the same time!

Marathon Hellooooooo! Hope you are doing well my lovely :)

Blue I'll be thinking of you at 4pm!

farfallarocks · 03/01/2012 15:36

Oh mseltoe that is just so sad, have a massive hug!

I am also on the B100 and it has lengthened my luteal phase from a pathetic 9 days to a respectable 11/12 and I have also noticed I have less spotting pre AF. I am also taking aspirin this cycle from ovulation onwards. St George's told me they often recommend this even when no reason for MCs has been found.
I am also using the tiniest dot of natural progesterone cream to see if I can extend my LP and stop the spotting completely. I am feeling a bit crampy though so I suspect I am out for another month. Its just so hard when everyone else is dropping pregnant at the drop of a hat, having healthy preganancies and moaning about them :( :(

martha I am so sorry to hear of your chemical pregnancy, I suffer from these 2. My consultant told me that over 70% of conceptions never implant and I foudn that statistic fairly comforting, but still, can you go and get checked out again?

poppy I am so pleased you are feeling tired (IFSWIM) and great that the metformin worked so quickly. I am seeing a PCOS specialists on Thurs for a 2nd opinion and will certainly ask him about that. I also had a scan this morning and was told my lining was 7.3mm at 9dpo and this was 'normal'. I am going to double check this as everything I have read suggests it needs to be between 8 and 12mm for successful implantation so there is something new for me to metal about :)

Welcome to all the newbies and I am very sorry you find yourselves on here but this really is the most supportive and fantastic thread.

Happy New Year to all and let's hope 2012 is a lucky one for us all because it has to be better 2011

bugger these things come in waves and hit you when you least expect it. Milestones are the worst for that sort of thing as well.
I can't wait for my DD to pass as then I will stop thinking, ooooh I would have been x weeks etc etc

It is very very difficult indeed when these days hit but your time WILL come and you will hold that baby in your arms in time.

Hello, well, beany was there all curled up upside down in a little ball holding onto it's feet with it's hands and took lots of encouragement poking and jabbing and wiggling by the sonographer and me to get it to move so we could have a good look but all seems well Smile We got a good view of a foot coming towards the screen at one point which was fairly Shock and the view of the all the heart chambers beating away was pretty amazing too...well, it all was, but they were my highlights Grin We decided not to find out the gender, but really not sure how you could be certain from what you'd see on one of those screens anyway Confused

marathon funny, I saw you post on another thread the other day and thought that all seemed well with you!! Good to hear from you!

buggerlugs the milestones are definitely v tough...but hunckering down at home in this crazy weather today probably wasn't a bad idea TBH...hope your dog is doing a bit better?

marthas can't quite believe I x-post with the wise manda and made a similar advice Shock I think she may also have a point about temping though as thinking back a bit the main reason I didn't start was that i thought it would stress me out waaay too much having to wake up and take it each morning and would've stared at my chart too much, thus aiding my metalling rather than calming me down IYSWIM. Sorry your cramps are bad today, that's just like salt in the wound after such a bad 24 hours for you.

far hope the appointment on thursday is useful

mseltoe it's always a pain trying to get through to the right department at hospitals...sorry you've not managed to get hold of the right people yet, and your DD comment is both v sweet and v Sad at the same time!

manda thinking of you for tomorrow...how many weeks are you now, are you a couple ahead of me?

Right...back to finishing off my holiday to-do list before I'm back to work tomorrow...

Poppyjen · 03/01/2012 17:45

Great news Blue ! So pleased for you Grin

I phoned the fertility clinic this afternoon to tell them about my BFP last week - they were so lovely about it and said it is amazing how many people come in for a consultation and then whilst waiting to start treatment they call to say they don't need to after all Smile - She just kept saying "Well done" which made me feel v. proud of myself - it was so nice for someone to recognise that it has been a long and difficult journey to get here so I feel quite upbeat today - I shall try to enjoy this before the inevitable metalling begins again tomorrow!

On a less happy note I found out today that a good friend and career mentor died yesterday after a 12 month or so battle with cancer. He died at home with his wife and his four children at his side but he was only in his 50s and it seems so cruel for him to go so soon Sad The whole cycle of life thing seems very raw and real today...

Hi everyone! I am back in the land of the living after what feels like a very long and hard few weeks.
I am semi okay re Grandad dying, as while it is horribly sad he was also nearly 90 (he was 5 days away from his 90th) which isn't a bad number to have almost got to. We are planning lots of things now to do with Grandma, such as tea at the Ritz in February, to keep her both busy and also to have things to look forward to.

Firstly, Martha, I am SO sorry to read about the latest cp / early mc. Sending you hugs xx

I have been dipping in and out but my mind is currently like a sieve so I am a bit crap at remembering what has happened to whom. So, can we have another roll call please? I'll put my details below:

Babysaurus pg with DC # 1, edd 15th June (currently 16+4)

PieMistress · 03/01/2012 20:01

Welcome back baby !! Adding my latest stats to the below. Am a bit Confused because my dating scan brought my EDD forward by a whole week?! Is that even possible? There's no way I ov'd on CD7?

Babysaurus pg with DC # 1, edd 15th June (currently 16+4)
Piemistress pg with DC # 2, edd 28th June (currently 14+5) has 1 DS aged 2

babysaurus · 03/01/2012 20:07

Thanks Pie! My last post ended up being extra short as I had to take the dog out (in the hail) for a wee.

Blue I am delighted to read that all is well with you so far. I have my 20 week scan booked for the 31st January and am semi excited but may also be a bit nervous nearer the time. Have you got a bump yet? I now look quite fat. It doesn't look like baby weight, more like lots of chocolate, but am hoping that will change very soon. No movement yet though, I realise it's still early, but am hoping that starts soon too.

Poppy re your BFP - Grin Wow!

Poppyjen · 03/01/2012 20:45

Morning everyone

Well i have woken feeling all positive today. Still bright red bleeding Sad so am resigned to the fact it isnt implantation, however DH is going to take Friday off and take me to the GP (he was going to take the afternoon off anyway to take me and DS to the Dinosaur Museum Smile) so we can have a good chat about where to go from here.

I have decided (after taking all of your wonderful advice) NOT to temp as it would drive me bonkers and-the control freak that i am i would be on FF all day i am going to ask the doc about baby aspirin and demand a referral to the fertility clinic (channelling poppys good experience!) we can do this, we just need to make the li'l bugger stick!!

baby good to see you and your mini chocolate bump. I actually shivered when you said you were taking your dog out for a wee!!

buggerlugs come here and sit in the VIP lounge with me, i know exactly what you mean about milestones, and i too have my moments when i am wailing that i will 'never have a baby' we WILL have one (each!! Wink )

blue i had a lovely image of your bean playing footsie and tickling it's toes! Smile sooo pleased all was well, and yay for not finding out the sex - we didnt with DS and it was the right decision as it added to the excitement.

Right just a (sort of) quickie as i should be working but will add my stats

Ooops...

BlueCrane · 04/01/2012 09:49

marthas glad you are feeling a bit more positive this morning, think that is the right decision re. temping - I think it would have sent me (and probably DH as well) slightly neurotic!! Glad your DH can go to docs with you on Friday too!

Well, just chatted to my boss to say I have NO idea if/when I'll be in today (stooopid engineer still hasn't sent out the promised text to say when they'll be here Angry ) Boss seemed remarkably calm and will try and email me some work to do, but until then I will continue to surf MN, other nursery websites and no doubt spend more money on things that we may or may not need do sensible things like sort our budget out and update it Smile Wink

MarthasHarbour · 04/01/2012 10:15

ooo glad to see our preggy list is growing - I WILL be on it next month!

Fanx for the coffee blue Wink here have a croissant and jam to go with yours!

i meant to mention that i am going to get some B100 at the weekend. My only concern is that my LP is always 14-16 days and i dont want to extend that as it would cause even more metallica Hmm

Poppyjen · 04/01/2012 10:28

Marthas I don't think that the B100 would extend your LP if it is already at a good normal length (anyone else know about this ) Worth a try for the other benefits though, especially the egg quality issue.
