(but yes, she will def be getting milk from you. I read somewhere that the whole bf thing can be likened to a bath with the taps always on. When the baby is not feeding, the plug is in and the bath/boob can fill up. When they feed, they can empty the bath, but the taps are still running, i.e. milk is being continually produced so there is always a flow, albeit a slower one than drinking the full bath tub in 10 mins! Grin)

greenzebra · 30/10/2011 14:19

congratulations ciwi

been a bit busy the past couple of days BIL's birthday and then went to a friends birthday party last night. Just been out buying things for the flat as our mortgage has gone through and we are just waiting now to sign the papers hand over the moneys and get the completion date. So excited! Parents are off on wednesday for four weeks so fx we are in before they get home. I just cant wait to get in that flat and make it ours!

razzdazz · 30/10/2011 15:54

blue hope the party went well and that the hard worked at cake was much appreciated Grin
angel and spilt so glad your little girls are keeping you both busy and growing well. Enjoy Smile
lemon I had early scans at 6w and 8w and again at 10w. The only one that was private was the last. Would they not give you an early reassurance scan considering all that you have been through. Worth asking for.
green that is fantastic news about the flat. I was meaning to ask about it all the other day. It will be so nice for you to get settled.......xmas together in your own place Grin

I actually managed to find babies heart beat today with the doppler for the first time Wink just in time for me to have to post it back again.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Good luck for wednesday mel though I am sure I will say it to you again before then.

AngelGeorgie · 30/10/2011 18:20

Razz yeh for heartbeat xxx it's reassuring Ian t it??
Green^ yeh for flat xxx
^Spilt.
good to know you understand. Thanks I ll check that out. Can acess bf counsellor again but at the moment just feel saturated by advice & info!!! Can t believe I m a professional woman with a degree and yet this is baffling me!!! Determined to not let it get the better of ne!!! Again , just taking a day at a time. Had a chat with Ant today told him , how much he's pissing me off & how I need support & love as well as Phoebe and he admitted he's only concentrated on Phoebe & he will take care/ help more now. So, that's better but then my mum pissed me off with stupid comments ( ie; wr ve bought a bottle warmer & wr were telling her about it & she said " are u sure it's safe to use??" errrr yes that's why they sell them . I texted her a photo of Phoebe in a hallowen suit my sister has bought her & my mum said " watch she doesn t get too hot in that ." no shit Sherlock!!!! I wouldn t gave thought of that myself!!!!) there again could just be me as I m emotional & tired.

My sister & brother in law gone home now. Had a lovely few days with them but looking foreward to some peace & quiet tomorrow when Ant returns to work. Gone from dreading it to looking foreward to
It!!!
Love to all hope everyone's ok?? Xxx

CheeseandGherkins · 30/10/2011 18:44

I've been really worrying today, been having tightenings on and off and I feel a bit crampy now with backache too. I've listened to her heartbeat a few times today as well as the movement has been less than I'm used to so I'm worrying about that as well. I'm really freaking out tbh. I'm only 20+1 so there's nothing that could be done which is worrying me even more. I think I'll call the mdau tomorrow morning if I'm still worried as I've not felt like this at all yet.

Blue hope the party went well, it was ds1's 8th birthday yesterday and we took them all to the local fireworks display in the evening which they loved.

Mel good luck for Wednesday, hope it goes well.

lemon yep we've told everyone! Can you ask the hospital for an early scan? I had 2 early scans this time and it really helped.

Angel I would get her latch checked if you're worried it could be that, letting her suckle you can also help even if you think she's finished as she may not be. Feeding that often does sound perfectly normal to me though, mine did that :) If you think she's still hungry after feeding then just let her feed from you some more, I wouldn't give a bottle personally as that will lead to a cycle of you producing less milk and so you won't be keeping up with her growth. The more she suckles and drinks from you, the faster your milk will be producing so when you're feeding is the time when it produces the quickest, if I remember rightly! May need to brush up myself :)

Spilt that's a very good site and well worth reading! I agree with all you said too, definitely letting her suckle is very good and will help produce more milk. Hope you managed to nap this afternoon.

green that's great news :o

razz really glad you've found the heartbeat yourself, it's so lovely

Bluetinkerbell · 30/10/2011 19:55

just a quick one, I'm exhausted! probably have to catch up properly on Tuesday as my sister and BIL and brother are arriving late tonight Wink

Party was great! DD loved it and everyone was very impressed by the cake! Grin

cheese take it easy! and please don't hesitate to get checked out when you think something is wrong! I'd rather you go to hospital and they send you back home with nothing, than you not going and something being wrong ((hugs))

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 30/10/2011 20:06

That's great blue Smile

cheese Sad that sounds scary. God I remember that stomach-in-knots fear so well. Please phone the hospital and talk to someone. There may well be something they can do if there is a problem. The main thing for now is to keep your little one on the inside. I'm sure everything is fine, but it would be so much better to know that rather than worry all night. Big hugs to you x

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 30/10/2011 20:22

Hello people! Had guests from Mon-Thurs and then went up to Aberdeenshire on Thurs night and am only just back. Totally exhausted! I don't have internet on my phone so am trying to catch up now.

Ciwi and Cheese, congratulations on excellent scans and finding out the sexes! Yay for a new little boy and girl, respectively. I am still waiting for the hospital to give me the rest of the amnio results including the sex, grr. Will chase them again tomorrow. Has anyone noticed that so far everyone is having a second baby of the same sex as their angel baby? That probably means Bean is going to be a boy and buck the trend.

Cheese, I hope you're feeling better now and the tightenings have stopped. Could they be Braxton Hicks? I think you should get checked out anyway for peace of mind.

Angel, hope Phoebe sleeps a bit more tonight and lets you get some rest!

Spilt, Freya sounds like a darling, as always. The bf advice is also fascinating. I am trying to learn as much as possible up front because I will probably be too tired and grumpy to take in anything once Bean is here.

Lemon, I had scans at 6+5, 8+5 and the 12 week scan (which turned out to be 13+5). I found them very reassuring, for a limited period of time, anyway! [neurotic emoticon] Mine were all on the NHS - the first arranged by the community MW and the second booked in by the EPU MW. She told me that in her experience a scan calmed women in our position down for about a week and then they started panicking again. It's very true! She also said I could call any time and they would try to get me scanned just for peace of mind. That helped - knowing I could be scanned helped me not to need it.

Razz, yay for the heartbeat! So lovely to hear.

Blue, glad to hear the party went well.

Green, boooooooo for AF! Angry I want to give you a big hug for getting through Ophelia's 6 month anniversary. It is horrible. Jane, you too with Zoe's 8 month one. [hugs Green and Jane tightly to massive bosom]

Jane, did you get your wedding dress? Is it all as you wished and beautiful? 3 weeks to go, wow!

Mel, hope all is going well. Did you say if you're having an early scan soon? My brain is like a sieve.

Shall have another go with the doppler later on. Does anyone know what this thing about hearing the placenta means? If you hear a heartbeat noise, does it matter if it is the placenta or the baby? Surely the placenta beating means the baby's heart is beating?

CheeseandGherkins · 30/10/2011 21:24

blue I think I'll have a lot of this to come, it's such a worry but I've had movements so I'm thinking she's ok in there. Rreally glad the part went well :)

spilt I've since felt more movements and I'm pretty sure things are ok, if I'm still worried in the morning I'm going to call the hospital though. I've listened to her heartbeat again too (a few times) but I think I'm just stressing myself for no reason.

Too I think they are braxton hicks, didn't think I'd get them so early though! I will call in tomorrow though if I'm still worried. I have felt her moving about and heard her heartbeat so I'm happier now. Very scary though. Hope you find out the rest of your results tomorrow and the sex! I think hearing the placenta is a good sign but listen out for the sound more like galloping horses, that's the heartbeat. It's usually around the same place as the placenta noise for me.

janedoe25 · 31/10/2011 07:59

cheese I hope you are feeling better, let us know what the hospital says.

too Thanks for the boosumy hug! Yes I got my dress, it is getting altered as we speak it needs taking in (yay).

green fantastic news about the flat, so happy for you and dh!

Af is round the corner for me, I have been sptting since friday Boooo! Im ok about it though, it means I can enjoy some champagne on my wedding day!

spilt and georgie im glad your girls are well!

Hi to ciwi, blue, razz. mel, lemon, august and shakey Sorry if i missed anyone Blush

greenzebra · 31/10/2011 08:43

thank you too it was a hard time as Im sure you all know.

And Ive had the worse type of AF all weekend the type where its kind of there but maybe not (for four days!) and then this morning its on with avengence. So I did have the feeling this weekend that maybe I might be pg! God I hate my body sometimes! Anyway ma and pa are off in two days (yayyy) so we can relax. DH's birthday on friday so hopefully AF has gone by then.

I keep on setting this really stupid goals for myself that I cant complete. I mean Im 31 in January and I want to be pg before then, why do I do this to myself!

cheese hugs to you, it must be scary, but Im sure its all fine.

jane maybe you will conceive on you honeymoon? Are you going on a honeymoon?

razzdazz · 31/10/2011 08:57

Morning all [hsmile] Happy halloween!!!
blue glad the party went well and all enjoyed the cake!!
cheese so pleased you feel less worried this morning......I so know the place that you are in, think we all do, lots of hugs going your way.
too I had noticed the trend with the sex of all of the rainbow babies, actually mentioned it to my mum last night. I also thought like you, that I was bound to break the trend [hwink]. Hopefully you will find out very soon, I maybe will next week.
green remove all goals!! 31yrs is a fine age to be. I believe and really hope that your house move will settle you down and your BFP will come very soon after......new beginnings and all that.
jane yay for dress being taken in [hgrin] you must be getting really excited. Like green I wish for you a honeymoon baby if Af does indeed arrive beforehand.

CheeseandGherkins · 31/10/2011 09:25

Posting from my phone, on the way to hospital now as they said to come in be checked over. Hopefully all is ok as I'm still feeling less movement and tightenings that are crampy.

spilttheteaagain · 31/10/2011 09:54

cheese I;m glad they're going to check you over properly, praying all is ok for you both xx

greenzebra · 31/10/2011 11:11

cheese Im glad you are getting it checked out, good luck my love.

ciwi · 31/10/2011 12:29

Hi everyone, had a busy weekend this weekend so not been on much. No real news from me, just plodding along having good days and bad days.
cheese glad you are getting checked out, i am sure it's nothing but always best to check. Quiet days can be normal at 20 weeks, I definitely have days when baby moves less than others, I don't think we have a pattern of movement yet but once I get one I will definitely get checked if it changes.
too I noticed that everyone is having the same sex baby too. It's lovely. I have been looking at ciarans scan picture next to this baby's scan picture and they are so alike. I hope they look alike as ciaran was beautiful (not biased or anything) good luck with the Doppler x
Jane so excited for you with the wedding coming up, you will have an amazing day x
green yay for the flat, hope you get signed soon, Christmas will be lovely in your own place x
razz glad you heard the heartbeat, how far along are you now?
angel hope Breast feeding Gets easier for you, well done for sticking it out x
Sorry if I have missed anyone, lots to catch up with!

CheeseandGherkins · 31/10/2011 12:44

I'm back home now and under orders to relax and put my feet up which should calm things down apparently. I had my bp checked which was high at first but then came down, probably as I was worried. They listened in to the baby and she was fine, too early for a trace just yet though but she listened with the handheld doppler for a good while. Everything was fine but I saw the dr too who did a speculum just in case the tightenings were doing anything, all well there too which was a relief.

Going to spend the next few days doing nothing much!

razzdazz · 31/10/2011 13:11

Thankgoodness cheese, really glad you went and got checked out, much better than worrying (even more than usual). Now, go put your feet up and have a cuppa Brew and lots of deep relieved breaths x

ciwi · 31/10/2011 13:51

Great news cheese you relax and take it easy, it's hard work growing a baby. Glad you got checked out though, it's a worrying time and sometimes you just need to be checked over and reassured. Have a nice afternoon nap x

spilttheteaagain · 31/10/2011 14:35

great news cheese, what a relief. Now sit down and watch some crappy tv x

greenzebra · 31/10/2011 15:13

cheese thats great news. I hope for the next few days the only things you get to do is post on mn!

janedoe25 · 31/10/2011 16:08

What a relief cheese make sure you listne to the docs advice and rest up!

Boooo Af is defo here now! Ah well, roll on champagne and next month!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 31/10/2011 17:28

Great news Cheese, was worried about you. Hope the tightenings calm down and give you some peace of mind.

Jane, boo but have some Wine for me!

Green, also boo. 31 is a fine age to be and anyway, you still have 3 months before then. I don't think you should set yourself arbitrary targets, though (she says, from within glass house). DH wanted to have a baby before he was 30 initially, and he is 31 now and will be 32 before this baby is born, and it still depresses him. Be kind to yourself.

Right, am too excited to hold it in any longer - Bean is a girl! [hgrin] [hgrin] I am dancing with excitement (metaphorically speaking. I am actually lying on the sofa) and overjoyed. The hospital rang this morning and said everything was fine with the rest of the amnio results - absolutely normal and very good news. I had been secretly hoping for another girl, even though I would have been delighted with a little boy too. DH was a little disappointed - he was secretly hoping for a boy. But again, he is delighted to be having a baby girl. I am so pleased! Right, names...

I had another listen with the doppler last night and this time got something a lot louder and more gallopy, so think that was definitely the heartbeat. [hgrin] Just as well, as I proceeded to have a nightmare about the MW coming round and not being able to find the heartbeat, grr. Stupid brain. Why must it torment me so?

razzdazz · 31/10/2011 17:46

Fantastic news too, results clear and a baby girl Smile
I just feel like I will have another boy. I saw the famous medium Loraine Reece in July this year who told me all about Thomas and said that I would have a BFP in August before his due date. She said it would be a girl. She did however predict that my best friend who had been trying for a while (her words) was pregnant and we would be due at the same time and that she would have a boy. My feeling is best friend will have the girl and I will have the boy. Hopefully I will find out next week, have no preference whatsoever.
jane sorry AF arrived but enjoy the alcohol at the wedding and the romance of making a honeymoon baby (if the dates fit Wink)

janedoe25 · 31/10/2011 18:16

too so exciting another little girl! I wanted a baby before I turned 30 (20th nov) and was obv so happy that i got pregnant with Zoe. I have been giving myself a target to get pregnant before my 30th, it hasn't happened. Sad
