The old thread seems to have run out of room... I'm hoping this works as a continuation...

Hi All, I'm back at home after a very long morning in the hospital. In for 8am but not in the surgery until 12.20. Very thirsty!
They only got 8 eggs so I'm feeling a little disappointed. They're talking ICSI which in my view isn't great, but I don't know all that much about it. Everything is crossed now that a good number fertilise tomorrow....
blacktreacle have you called your nurses? You may just be having a reaction to the drugs, but it's worth checking to find out.
I'm off to bond with the sofa & an episode of Glee before DH returns with DS.

Thank you for answering my question, Im going to ask for care nottingham but I dont know what the dr will say.

Its so unfair, they ought to fund on results. Why send people to clinics who have such low success rates?.

Burton is not my first choice at all.

Cloclo15 · 28/10/2011 16:35

Hi everyone, got another phonecall from the embryologist. No more of the 14 have dropped out, but 4 are a stage behind. 10 are on course to reach blastocyst tomorrow, our ET will be tomorrow morning. They can't grade them till tomorrow when they reach blasto, so not sure if we will get any to freeze yet but fingers crossed.

Was so nervous I felt sick for the hour before the phonecall, I made DH take it!

Pinkforboys · 28/10/2011 18:16

clo you sound in an awful state. I was wondering what you meant by using the front entrance for a while, I haven't had any rear end pessaries and I'm now truly thankful!
Fantastic news on the embryos. I've been reassured that Grade 2 are as good as Grade 1s for a successful pregnancy.
blacktreacle don't give up hope!!! Pre-BFP symptoms are frustratingly similar to PMT. Hang on in there!
I'm still just trying to keep my mind elsewhere and chilling out to Circle & Bloom every eve. I seem to fall asleep before the end so it's definitely good for destressing!

Happy weekend to all. Ours has started early with a glass of guilty Wine no more, i promise.

Thanks pink, still got bad gastro problems but windeze has helped a bit and I managed to get out for a walk today which blew away the cobwebs. Have just had dinner so hoping it won't bloat me up again now...

Cloclo15 · 29/10/2011 12:03

Back from the hospital, transfer over and done with. Only one had got to blasto by this morning (day 5 had only just started so this is apparently ok) so that one got transferred. It wasn't top grade but was one grade down from top and the embryologist seems to think that will still be ok.
The others are a wide range of qualitys, some good, some ropey so they will only know tomorrow whether we get to freeze any.

I was so nervous going in but the procedure really wasn't bad at all, they had to get me to do some calming breathing though!

All in all it isn't the perfect outcome but it isnt bad and I'm sure good quality blastos can still do well can't they?

blacktreaclecat · 29/10/2011 12:17

Congratulations on being pupo. I've read that as long as they make blast on day 6 it is still ok. Our frosties were blasts on day 5 but not as advanced as the one that was transferred. They were frozen on day 6.
Just had a bill for 450 for the freezing actually.
Feel a bit more positive today but not much and still expecting/ preparing for a bfn tomorrow. I would feel happier if my boobs hurt.

Cloclo15 · 29/10/2011 13:22

I've really upset myself now - my husband asked the embryologist what grade our blasto was and I didn't really understand it at the time but have now looked it up and we only have a 3BB - this isn't good as nothing below this will be frozen. If only one of the 14 has made it to that to be transferred, I doubt we'll get any frozen. The embryologist wants to take them to day 6 but I'm feeling really down and disappointed and convinced that our 'fair' quality blast probably won't work now :(

blacktreaclecat · 29/10/2011 17:14

People get bfps from 2 cell day 2 embies! That it made blast at all is really good. Try and stay positive. Says me - testing tomorrow and already planning our FET and "we're not pregnant" Christmas escape holiday!

Cloclo15 · 29/10/2011 18:04

blacktreacle I am positive you will get a BFP, I have read that a hatching blasto is like the holy grail of IVF.

I have just listened to one of my Andrew Johnson self hypnosis apps on my iPhone and feel a lot more relaxed and positive now. If it doesn't work, then it was never meant to be. I think my worrying had given me an upset stomach which makes a nice change from the trapped wind but prob not much good for little blastie either so I am now determined to relax! And maybe download Doris Day's Que Sera Sera from iTunes...

blacktreaclecat · 30/10/2011 07:09

Well cloclo you were right. Can't quite believe it but BFP!
We are stunned and so happy. We have had 2 losses including a termination for Downs and heart problems in March so the first trimester will be pretty stressful. We know more than 90% that the chromosomes are normal this time. Fingers crossed!

zeebee1 · 30/10/2011 08:15

blacktreacle congratulations on your BFP!!! Amazing news! So pleased for you being pupo! It will be a stressie 1st trimester - god I'm living each day praying I don't go to the loo and see any blood.... Roll on the next 3 weeks until 2nd trimester starts.
Have a wonderful day and I hope you are celebrating somewhere today!
clo congrats on the ET - glad it wasn't to painful. I find all those relaxation tapes etc are so helpful...
Waves to everyone else

Cloclo15 · 30/10/2011 08:42

Congrats blacktreacle, I'm so happy for you, I have my fingers firmly crossed that everything will be alright with this one. As I say, with a hatching blasto on day 5 it will definitely be a strong little fella so I think you have every chance.

Zeebee, can't believe you have only three weeks till you are in second trimester, time really flies doesn't it?

I am wondering how my little embies are doing today at the clinic and if any of them will get frozen, as I think we will need them. If none of them can be I'll be a bit upset as it doesn't say a lot for the quality of our combined eggs/sperm when we still had 14 alive on day 4 :/ I don't think we will find out now until they send us a letter.

zeebee1 · 30/10/2011 08:50

clo sorry I'm wrong in fact 2nd trimester in 7 weeks (Not 3!!) obviously wishing the weeks away a little bit quickly!! Grin
keep positive about your embies.. Fingers x that they have progressed nicely overnight.

Zb

blacktreaclecat · 30/10/2011 09:45

They rang us on day 6 to tell us about our frosties. You should get the same? Otherwise I'd ring and ask for embryology?
Thanks all. Still can't believe it!

Cloclo15 · 30/10/2011 10:40

Don't think they'll ring us today cos of it being Sunday, though I know they are in today to freeze what they can. They didn't actually tell us how they would let us know, but I heard them tell other people when we were getting EC that they would get a letter in the post. So a few days to wait I suppose.

Are you doing anything nice to celebrate?

sassygirl210 · 30/10/2011 11:06

Hi all, been away in the country for half term bit of rest & relaxation. Have to phone the clinic tomorrow to organise a date for FET!! Very apprehensive after the last ET was unsuccessful!

Congrats blacktreaclecat xx

MrsMigginslovespies · 30/10/2011 11:57

Congratulations Blacktreaclecat. Really wonderful news and I'm thrilled for you. Haven't been able to say hello recently as was away and couldn't use iphone well to post. But have been thinking of you all and sending waves. My news is that the first week of buselerin jags have been fine actually. Immediately afterwards, I get super-itchy at the site, so have been putting an ice pack on. I've also had chronic backache and cramps at times, but apart from that, so far, so normal PMS symptoms, which is good. I think I'm due my period soon, but apparently, they can come late when on deregs...has that been other people's experience? I'm now day 29 and counting...

My tooth however, has been HORRENDOUS and by far the worst thing. I'm due a big root canal soon, but it's really been agony. I had to ring the clinic to check it was ok to take Nurofen, which they said was ok-ish, but they would prefer paracetemol if possible...so will battle on but not much fun at all.

Hope everyone has a great Hallowe'en and a good sticky lucky week [hsmile].

x

Cloclo15 · 30/10/2011 12:26

Sorry to hear about your tooth MrsMiggins, I've never had toothache like that but my friend has and I know he was in agony. My AF was several days late - in fact I had only just started when I had my baseline scan.

I'm in a bit of a quandary. A lot of the horrible trapped wind/bloating has gone down today (woke up in the night in pain with it but have done that every night since EC). Trouble is, last night and today I have started getting a really tight feeling in my chest, like there is a pressure on it and it makes me cough when I'm walking around. Also, when I bend down to pick something up, I almost get a feeling of movement in there.

I know shortness of breath can be a sign that my mild OHSS may have developed further, but I'm still peeing fine, my bloating if anything has gone down, and I don't know if I can face another four hours in the ward waiting room if it is nothing. However at ET yesterday my consultant emphasised that I should look out for symptoms and get them checked out as I am at high risk.

Any advice? Anyone here had OHSS? What should I do?

MrsMigginslovespies · 30/10/2011 18:48

If it was me, and I'd felt as bad as you did, I'd go and get checked at hospital, just to be on the safe side. Really hope you're feeling better by the time you read this, and are having a nice Sunday evening. But don't take anything to chance and get checked out if in doubt!

Tooth is hideous and eventually cracked and took brufen this afternoon which has helped a lot. Wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy! Still no sign of AF, but sure she's on the way soon as feel ick this evening.

Anyhoo, happy Sunday all

bugsylugs · 30/10/2011 20:15

blacktreacle fantastic news congratultions heres wighing you a very boring 40 weeks. I know you will be stressing but keep doing what you have been. Hope you have had a great day.
marmite I will be just behind you start dr on 10 when do they roughly expect to transfer I cannot quite wirk it out in my head
fluffy so are you in staffs area then? We are at Care Notts to be honest I should have looked at figures more carefully but I loked more at where I could get to in a sensible time.
clo hope you have got checked out and are feeling better.

To all I hope the rest I hope you have had as good a weekend as us. nothing really special just being with friends great but had some guilty Wine today.

bugsylugs · 30/10/2011 20:16

mrsmiggins poor you dental pain is just so horrid and all consuming. Hope you can get your tooth sorted hugs

blacktreaclecat · 30/10/2011 20:35

Care Notts have pretty good success rates. Better than Leeds. That is partly why we have travelled 120 mile round trip to all appts! Also we wanted the array cgh.
Mrsmiggins - dentist in the morning! I'm a dentist - I would advise you get it sorted before you start stimming. I had hideous period pain and rang my clinic- once stimming they aren't keen on NSAIDs like ibuprofen but you can have codeine.
Cloclo- if you aren't better tomorrow contact your clinic and get checked out.
Xxx

Teds77 · 30/10/2011 22:22

Yay blacktreacle! Lovely news.

clo and mrsm hope you are both feeling better soon x.

Cloclo15 · 31/10/2011 09:55

Morning everyone,

Since I wasn't actually breathless, just hurting, I decided to risk it to today and not go to the hospital. I'm so glad I did - I feel so much better today. I'm not A1 yet and decided to wait till tomorrow to go back to work, but my bloating has subsided, the pain is much less, I can stand upright again and this is the closest to normal I've felt in about two week :)

MrsMiggins I hope you have been to the dentist this morning?
