The old thread seems to have run out of room... I'm hoping this works as a continuation...

Hi All, I'm back at home after a very long morning in the hospital. In for 8am but not in the surgery until 12.20. Very thirsty!
They only got 8 eggs so I'm feeling a little disappointed. They're talking ICSI which in my view isn't great, but I don't know all that much about it. Everything is crossed now that a good number fertilise tomorrow....
blacktreacle have you called your nurses? You may just be having a reaction to the drugs, but it's worth checking to find out.
I'm off to bond with the sofa & an episode of Glee before DH returns with DS.

Teds, lovely to hear from you and so glad you have been successful too :)
Just got my scan date through, the 4th Jan at 10am (so more time off work, my boss is going to love me!) so just under 2 weeks to wait, I'll be 12+2 on that day. Hope it's all good news.
A bit of advice needed, we are going to a New Years party at a friends with a group of people that we know well but haven't yet told (only one of them) as so far we have restricted to family. I'm worried it will look obvious that I'm not drinking at a New Years party and we were wondering whether to tell people, but it feels a bit like tempting fate announcing it 4 days before the scan. My DH and friend who knows say they can help me cover up the not drinking. Do you think we should wait and tell people after the scan, or tell people at the party?

bugsylugs · 22/12/2011 22:45

ooh I would wait but then I think silly things like that tempt fate and we all know that is utter rubbish. Are you driving or walking? Either drink things that look like alcohol, tonic and lemon, orange juice ( vodka). Or say you are antibiotics say metronidazole complete no no for alcohol original antabuse, likely senario for it would be dental problem abccess etc. Mind you most will be drinking so may not notice. Good luck and enjoy

Cloclo15 · 22/12/2011 22:48

I think I may try the 'drinks that look like alcohol' ruse - my tipple of choice is G&T anyway so should be able to pass off a lemonade as a beverage. I would love to tell everyone but like you, I worry about tempting fate too :/

blacktreaclecat · 23/12/2011 19:32

Wow a run of bfps! Congratulations Mrs miggins, bugsy, teds, everyone.
Cloclo, good luck for your scan.
I had my nuchal yesterday and it was fab! After our last one where the nuchal measurement was 11mm and cvs showed t21, I was terrified!
This time the measurement was 1.4mm and with bloods and a visible nasal bone our risk of Downs was 1 in 25000! Amazing result at nearly 35 with a previous Downs pg.
Happy Christmas to all xx

bugsylugs · 23/12/2011 19:57

Merry Christmas to all

Happy New Year all! Thought I'd pop on, as have been away a bit plus had no internet for a while. Hope everyone had a good holiday and managed to disguise drinks last weekend! I felt quite sick for much of the first week over Christmas, but it has subsided now. We also had a bit of a scare at 0100 on Christmas Day after Watchnight service when I passed a walnut sized hard brown grim lump of goodness knows what. Had a sleepless night and spoke to NHS Direct on Christmas morning and got a v early scan on 28th. Saw two heart beats and a big bleed/bruise area, probably from IVF or implanting. Have since passed several more of these awful lumps. Went for another scan yesterday at Chelsea and Westminster where they sadly confirmed that one of the embryos hadn't grown any further from last week. But the other is doing well which is great news. Spent a v emotional day yesterday feeling sad for the one that didn't survive, whilst trying to keep upbeat for the one that's thriving. Was a bit Hmm at the clinic though for not mentioning that the gim lumps can be a side effect of the progesterone crinone I'm taking and that lots of people worry about them... which begs the question why they didn't warn me/others at the time. Oh well. So, I'm having a quiet day today not doing much and taking it easy. I've been dated at 7+2 which is good as was a bit confused by all the different dates. Sorry for the self-indulgent post, but needed to vent. Hope everyone is doing well and am sending New Year happy 2012 wishes to everyone.

I wonder what happened to you all- blacktreacle, Polly & Zeebee.
I'm 30 weeks pg today, due in October. Only took 2 years to get there in the end!
If anyone anywhere out there reads this I highly recommend Zita West and their beautifully holistic approach to supporting and delivering IVF.
I hope the others have/had positive news too.
