Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

We are all jolly well going to get preggers this month in a nonchalant non-psycho way, and hang onto it, and there will be no brooking of any argument whatsoever!

Welcome across Rat Smackers! Glad you found the place okay. This is THE MONTH when we get those deceitful pee sticks to own up to the BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS - we are all already preggers! After all; positive people get positive pee sticks!

I hope you all like what I've done with our new home

You'll note the updated title, courtesy of farfalla. Various healthy snacks have been set out on the coffee tables, to ensure our bumps are receiving the appropriate nutritional balance

Also, my personal favourite adjustment, you'll note the strategically positioned peephole, right here, providing us with a sneaky preview of the utopian delights awaiting us in the NO BROOKING vomitorium ante-natal thread.

So let's get to it preggos! Remember: see a rat - smack it!

2 more sleeps to my scan (eeeeek)

Jen did you test again? We need another bfp quick before you all have to start a new thread.......

jenfraggle · 15/08/2011 09:22

I'm out of the running. AF got me today

GenericDietCola · 15/08/2011 09:38

Oh Jen so sorry to hear that. Take care today and have a mope if you need to. We can be cycle buddies for this month!

Biscuitsandtea · 15/08/2011 09:42

Sorry to hear that Jen.

I'm prescribing chocolate and tea and Wine. Early days though no? Do I remember right that you've not been trying long? Not that that makes AF's arrival any less unwelcome or annoying but your bfp is just around the corner

jenfraggle · 15/08/2011 09:44

I didn't expect it to happen this month as we had only just started and only DTD twice, a week late. It would have been a bit rude to push to the front of the queue

dreamfeeder · 15/08/2011 09:59

Morning Rat Smackers!

I can confirm that I am Not Very Nice, DH is fed up of me and we had an arument last night. This waiting business is driving me stir crazy. I am being cranky as anything and generally unpleasant...

I too have relaxed a bit this morning, had a nice cuddle with DH before we got DD in with us (she was laughing to herself in her cot for ages, strange baby!!). I have decided to get the CBFM if not preggers. I know that might just increase the stress but at least i'd know if i'm ovulating and most importantly WHEN! No promising signs today. I think AF will get me soon.

scarlett, you never know, i will be expecting your BFP on wed or thurs!!!

oh rubbish, DD is getting a top tooth and is rubbingher bottom one against the edge where its coming through and making her mouth bleed and crying. Howcan i stop this?!? Urgent...

GenericDietCola · 15/08/2011 10:03

Dream I heard your plea! My DD loved a bit of cold cucumber to bite on when teething - it should numb the pain and stop the bleeding...

Glad you have relaxed a bit and made up with DH.

farfallarocks · 15/08/2011 10:15

Morning ratsmackers, wow 8 pages to catch up with!

Imps that is a lovely little motto and one I shall try and adopt from now on.
DH got his mojo back this weekend, we DTD 3 times in 2 days, GAH, if only he had been like this LAST WEEKEND. So irritating. I am getting ready for loads more brooking next month though!

Where are all these BFPs then ladies???

jenfraggle · 15/08/2011 10:49

Hi Farfalla

Solars · 15/08/2011 11:28

Morning!

oh boo Jen sorry to hear about AF, hope you're ok.

Imps that's an uplifting story to share. I really wish I could switch off the constant worrying of trying to conceive and just forget about it so it will just happen so effortlessly, but it's always at the back of my mind!! I'm loving your little motto too and I'm trying to make sure I remember it especially since DH once said to me a few months ago "I'm not a Robot you know" Blush

Hope everyone else is doing good x

jenfraggle · 15/08/2011 11:34

I texted hubby to tell him about AF as it started after he left for work. He replied with aww x does this mean more sex?

Can you tell we are still in the early stages? :)

Solars · 15/08/2011 11:51

Yes you are definitely in the early stages Jen, I normally get a lot more w's in my aww and a few more x's and these days, "shall we go out for dinner tonight?" However, this will be YOUR month now! I wouldn't wish anyone the 16 months i've been through so far xx

scarletfingernail · 15/08/2011 13:07

jen sorry to hear about AF. Lots more sex will guarantee your BFP this month.

Hey farfalla good news about your DH. Glad he's feeling more "up for it"

So dream we are still in the game. Not sure how much longer for me though, I've had an evil back ache start this morning. Not a good sign. Have you been tempted to test yet?

dreamfeeder · 15/08/2011 13:12

Thanks generic, got your msg just before MN crashed!!! disaster... no cucumber in house but subsituted with sliced melon from fridge- good call, few min peace. I hadn't thought she'd eat with crying with mouth pain and all but thank goodness she did. Though didn't exactly suck/chew on it, just chomped it down pretty quick. But for a short term solution, excellent!!

Knowing how interminable the 2 week wait is 16 months of tehm must be pretty grim solars. Dh has said 'i'm not a sperm bank' to me too, i think it gets a bit like that- and we're only on month 5!!!

Sad news jen, but this month is definitely your month. You're on this thread, you can't fail!!!

It would be ridiculous to buy a CBFM without waiting for AF right??? or to confirm my BFP I just want to feel like i'm doing something.

Super paranoid now as been feeding DD more in day/ when she woke last night that this has actually just stuffed my cycle again. DH most unsympathetic and just says 'well, your hormonal axis is so different when you're bf' and other such comments...

dreamfeeder · 15/08/2011 13:30

Oh scarlet, that better not be an AF backache. How about an... implantation/ baby growing backache??

Not sure how much longer i'll be in either. But also wondering if having picked up bf a bit and feeding DD in day as stuffed my cycle again.... Ended up feeding her in night last night after DH failed to settle her too. Really tempted to go and buy a test, but don't think it'll tell me anything bar a BFN, and then i'd STILL wonder if it was possible, too early etc until AF arrived so I may as well grit my teeth and wait. AF not due til thurs on another 34 day cycle...

farfalla, well done you! It's awful but at the min, if there's no chance of smacking a rat, i'm quite hard to persuade.... I MUST make more effort!!

GenericDietCola · 15/08/2011 13:32

Melon sounds like an excellent substitute Dream - hope she feels better now. Please don't buy the shag dictator just yet - I totally understand the need to do something (I've just been out and bought a vit B complex - somehow throwing money at the problem must help). Try to wait for your BFP as I'm certain you will be getting one this week. Although if you do order it, you will deffo get an ironic BFP just as the money leaves your bank account

Scarlet I hope you're wrong.

Solars sorry it's taking you so long. You've got the magic HSG this week though haven't you? That might get something happening.

Hi Farfalla glad things are on again for you!

farfallarocks · 15/08/2011 13:37

Well I have to keep up the effort so he does not realise when is OV time, sigh!
I had imagined that TTC would be fun in a conspiratorial way, doing it 5 days in a row cos you knew it was the right time. NOT having to pretend.
Never Mind!

jen sorry AF got you.
Anyone else testing soon?

dreamfeeder · 15/08/2011 13:41

I think if i could KNOW I'm ov by enough signs i would just carry on without it but i have no idea really... I do think we stopped too early this cycle though- i think we stopped on day 22 which of a 34 day cycle could have been way too early if i ov'ed day 25 or 26...

i've still got everything crossed for this month, and have let myself get slightly more optimistic as the spotting I had last wed stopped and has never reappeared but even DH doesn't think we've cracked it this month. I thought about swiping a test from his work bag this mornign.... but then thought about BFN's and restrained myself.

Logically there is no point testing now... although when i had an early mc i got a BFP on a first response 3 days before af due

And realistically one full cycle since birth of DD is not a 'regular' cycle or pattern by any means...

NinjaChipmunk · 15/08/2011 13:42

blimey you lot have been busy!
jen sorry to hear about af turning up, but hey, you are now 1 day pregnant, congratulations! Just tell auntie she's not welcome for long and not to come back for at least another 9 months.
at everyone else as can't remember what you've all said. Must be pregnancy brain kicking in. I can't stop yawning and have a very long and boring task ahead of me at work this afternoon. Boo!

dreamfeeder · 15/08/2011 13:42

oh farfalla, the pressure!!! It was always like you you said- fun and conspiratorial til now for us.... good luck and keep DTD!!!

NinjaChipmunk · 15/08/2011 13:43

dream any reason why your dh keeps pg tests in his work bag?

farfallarocks · 15/08/2011 13:43

dream spotting stopped you say? Classic implantation bleed!!!!

On the shag dictator - definitely worth it to try and figure out when you are ovulating. it does become an obsession though and can cause arguments as you become so focused on doing it at the right time. I also think it picks up the LH surge a bit late versus the sticks but as long as you doing it on the highs then that should cover it I reckon!

dreamfeeder · 15/08/2011 14:11

ninja, lol, for all his girlfriends!!!! He's a GP. Hence lack of sympathy.

I will weigh up the Shag Dictator pros and cons while i wait for my lack of BFP. It was wierd spotting- brownish not fresh, just like beginning of AF really, but then nothing... on day 26. Seriously think wrong timing for implantaion bleed- we hadn't DTD since day 22... one of those things. I'll just have to wait im patiently

scarletfingernail · 15/08/2011 14:24

dream are you aware if you have a luteal phase defect or not? I know luteal phase can be affected by breastfeeding. But if you think you are ovulating CD25-26 on a 34 day cycle it might be worth a visit to your GP to discuss any hormonal issues he/she could help you with as 9-10 days is quite short.

I don't know how much you know about luteal phase and apologies if I'm telling you something you already know. Ovulation is usually mid-cycle so for you around CD15-18 would probably be about right. The average luteal phase is 14 days but anything betwen 12 and 16 is normal and believed to be required for healthy pregnancy.

Have you discussed this with your DH? He will know about this with him being a GP.

Again, apologies if I'm telling you something you already know or if I'm speaking out of turn. Just wanted to flag it up in case it was something you hadn't considered which you could check.

Imps7 · 15/08/2011 15:21

Dream - brook no argument! It WAS an implantation bleed, and that's that.

Sorry for that bitch of a cow AF turning up Jen. This month the rat will be smacked, have no fear!
