Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VIII

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Well done on getting to 10 weeks Kat you're doing really well! Try and enjoy the time between scans as 'ignorant bliss' - you are pregnant until someone tells you otherwise (that someone being the mw who has just delivered your baby).

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2011 10:56

Like your thinking Digital Smile

Well, I've just come back from my 12 week scan. All as it should be which is a big relief Smile. Baby a bit lazy and curled up for the measurements but they got the nuchal measurement ok (1.3 but I have no idea what that means). Heart beating away and had a little wriggle when we first got in there so not worried about the subsequent laziness Smile

kat2504 · 16/09/2011 10:57

Fantastic news biscuits well done for completing the first trimester! Hope the next 28 weeks are plain sailing for you :)

LAF77 · 16/09/2011 13:19

Yay biscuits that is the same measurement that I had at my scan. I just had my letter back today and it says that the risk is 1 in 4300 for Downs. I'm so happy for you!

Your baby sounds like mine, not up to much. Hopefully, they will be chilled out and sleep well when they come out! I read that the baby spends 90-95% of its time sleeping at this stage.

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2011 13:25

Thanks ladies!

That's what I said to the sonographer person LAF - I hope it sleeps like this when it's born!

stitchinline · 16/09/2011 16:36

biscuits brilliant news about your scan, very happy for you. :o

LAF great result

digi your thinking is brilliant, have tried to do that myself as much a possible and it really does help.

Moomin sorry things have been so worrying for you, I do know lots of ladies have had bleeding and been OK so fx that?s the case for you,

Kat scan waiting is torture, next one for me is over 5 weeks away, so glad i did a 16 week one or otherwise it would have been way too long a wait

notnow that was so lovely of your boss,

Thanks for the list lady, next time someone does it we need to remove wombat from the grads as she has popped!

My bean is usually very sleepy but yesterday I scoffed a little bag of chocolate buttons and some lemonade before the scan to get it wriggling ? it worked. :o

Busy weekend cleaning for me, after being away and having my parents to stay it all needs a good scrub. Have trained dh to do the bathroom now which does make it a bit easier as totally with you moomin on the product smells

LivinInTheMoment · 16/09/2011 17:21

Great news on your scan Stitch!!

Aw thats a lovely reaction from your boss Notnow. It must be such a relief that he knows. I stil lhaven't told mine yet. Hope i get a good reaction like yours :)

Thanks Lady for doin list up!

Yay Kat double figures!

Hooray Biscuits!!! Great news for your scan

And I'm still impatiently waiting for my appointment letter. Nothin in todays post, so now i gotta wait til Mondays post. /sigh So I've stocked up on Fry's Chocolate Cream bars as these are my latest addiction for a treat :)

have a lovely Friday evening everyone!

notnowImreading · 16/09/2011 17:51

Fantastic Biscuits - you must have such a huge sense of achievement to have got so far. You too, Kat - double figures is a big hooray.

Moominsummermadness · 16/09/2011 18:38

Great news on your scans, Biscuits and Stitch.

Thanks for the reassuring comments, ladies, I'm trying to be more positive. Have just re-read my old post and it looked like I was moaning about the feeling sick and tired, and having a little pot-belly, but what I meant was that I'm worrying about the spotting, but on the other hand see these things as positive signs! Not that I think the pot belly is so much to do with the baby as me stuffing my face to keep nausea at bay! Just wish my 12 week scan would hurry up.

Glad that your boss was so nice, Notnow, it really does help to get that sort of reaction.

As I'm trying to be more positive, please could somebody add me to the list. I'm 9 +5.

Hope everybosy has a nice weekend!

boodleboot · 17/09/2011 10:55

am lurking all and v excited by all the lovely scan news.....very nervous about mine on tues so will pop back and catchup properly when i know where i am with this pregnancy.....hope you understand.

xxxxx

notnowImreading · 17/09/2011 11:10

Moomin, I hope you didn't think I was being a meanie about being jealous of your pot belly - I genuinely think it sounds like the nicest thing and I really hope you get to the stage soon where you can enjoy your pregnancy. Only two days to go to double figures! That's got to be a great thing.

I'm feeling so much better now after midweek awfulness that I'm starting to realise just how bad I was feeling. So far my main symptoms have been ( on good days) nothing and (on bad days) griping period-type pain. It's not a recipe for an easy mind, I can tell you. I so, so hope there's a heartbeat at the scan on Thursday. At the moment it seems all too easy to believe that the baby might just have disappeared. Sad. I don't quite know how I'm going to get through the next 5 days without spontaneously combusting.

LivinInTheMoment · 17/09/2011 12:18

Moomin i had a bit of spotting with this pg and i freaked out all day long. it stopped but it sure gave me a fright. And thankfully it meant nothing as all is ok. And i can sure relate about the pot belly, i had a pot belly at 6 wks! I am sure now it was a chocolate baby though as now my belly has changed shape and is def more baby belly lol! Also, going straight from one pg immediately to this one with no break my belly has not really been flat or normal since March this year!! Blush

Boodle FX for you for Tuesday!

I'm ok this morning, just chillin out having a nice lazy morning. I'm always on the go constantly so any chance of time off I take it.

Symptom wise: My boobs are not sore at all anymore, thankfully!
Crazy discharge some days, which has me runnin paranoid for the bathroom to check its not blood. What is with the discharge? i hope it stops!!
Sometimes when i get up from bed or a chair i get an awful pain in my lower back near my bottom bone, takes my breath away its that strong. But it goes away then.
I'm also getting more headaches and paracetamol just doesn't do anything for me, wish i could take a solpadeine /sigh.
Anyone else with any of those complaints??

Hils74 · 17/09/2011 13:59

googietheegg · 17/09/2011 15:53

Hello all...I'd like to tentatively add myself please - just five weeks with number one after having a MMC at 10 weeks back in April, when I had lots of great support on here. Trying not to think too much about it all really, just no caffine or booze and taking it as easy as possible. Good luck all!

DiffedAgainDachs · 17/09/2011 17:22

Hello :) Glad you found us :) I'm not brave enough to put myself on the list yet - i'm going to wait until later. But I'm a coward and I'm still not even remotely convinced that this baby is going to stick around.

When is your first scan? I've already had a couple, but my doc is just as paranoid about this one as I am so he's scanning me every week.

FX everything goes smoothly for you this time.

sorry i haven't been around much - twins' due date this weekend so have been fairly miserable and will prob be quiet for a while yet. Am lurky lurking though, and still wishing all of you all the best. FX for all of you. And yay for good scans :)

Moominsummermadness · 17/09/2011 19:01

Thinking of you Dachs. It must be hard for you. I know what you mean about not feeling brave enough to add yourself, that's why it's taken me until nearly 10 weeks to pluck up the courage.

Welcome Googietheegg. This thread is great, i've found it very supportive.

Thanks for adding me to the list, Livin, yes, that's fine with the EDD! At least until I have my dating scan!

Don't worry, Notnow, you didn't offend or upset me, I just realised that my post had come across differently to how I intended. Try to stay positive, I know it's much easier said that done, but FX that before you know it you will have a nice little baby bump of your own and feeling much happier about things!

LadyMaybe · 17/09/2011 21:08

Ah dachs I'm sorry about the due date anniversary, it must bring a lot of memories and sadness with it. Are you marking it in some way or will you save that for A and F's birthday anniversary? Huge squeeze m'dear. FWIW I feel you have every chance with this one, it is a singleton this time which reduces your risk and the weekly scans should help lower stress levels a little, just keep hanging on to the stitch date.

Welcome googie lovely to have another newbie and congratulations!! We'll hold your hand so you can't run away while we fishslap you while you wibble.

Well, we had a great week of scans last week, fingers crossed the good news carries on this week boodle fingers crossed everything is in the right place for you and that a good result brings a final thaw to DHs response.

I'm still having quite a bit of nausea and food aversions, when it starts up I just want to go to bed - so far DH seems happy to indulge me, but when the weekend is over I'll just have to get on with it again. Thinking of trying seasickness bands, never have before but I'm finding it quite disheartening. Sorry i know some find symptoms reassuring, but I've had three early pgs all with strong symptoms that failed so It doesn't help me and I've had enough feeling rough with no
'reward'.

kat2504 · 18/09/2011 08:17

Oh dachs you poor thing. Thinking of you this weekend, it seems like that date has come around very soon. Obviously you'll feel very upset, but as ladym says, you have a good chance with this one, although of course no baby "replaces" another. Don't worry about the list, I didn't add myself till I was past the point of previous mc. It doesn't matter if you never add yourself, it's only a list after all! Huge hugs for you this weekend xx

shellshock7 · 18/09/2011 10:17

Hi everyone, back from Hols and quick scan of the thread seems like all good news over thelast couple of weeks Grin

Hi to all the newbies, congrats on your BFPs Smile

Hi to livin sharing the same EDD is great, how are you feeling at the mo? My body changed a lot on Hols, really look pregnant now-DH was calling me pregosarus in the pool. Got 16 week appt tomorrow (and hospital for bloods) so looking forward to that.

Re Doppler, I have angel sounds and it's great, used to need full bladder and it would take some finding, but now getting HB instantly, defo recommend it - very reassuring Smile

Velvetcu · 18/09/2011 10:24

TOY this weekend Dachs hope you are ok. I can't believe it's come around so quickly.

Biscuitsandtea · 18/09/2011 11:32

Ah Dachs - thinking of you this weekend - take good care of yourself xx

Welcome to googie and any other newbies I've missed - I seemed to miss a day yesterday and have lost track of everyone!

I promise to do better on the keeping up stakes but apologies if I've missed anyone / anything out!

digitalgirl · 18/09/2011 13:32

thinking of you dachs

welcome googietheegg, not thinking about it has got me this far. I throughly recommend the 'denial method' as it cuts out a whole load of mentalling.

livin headaches freak me out as I had one just before my last mc - so whenever I get the slightest whiff of one I guzzle down loads of water in case it's a dehydration thing. It seems to have kept them at bay. Sorry, if that's something you're already doing.

Boobs have grown a bit more, which is surprising, and also gone back to being a bit achy again. And I think I'm beginning to relax a bit more about this. I know it's still very early days but I think the regular scans are helping.
