Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Ooh got my letter through for my next scan on 3/10 Was hoping it would be the previous week but at least it is the same day as my next consultant appointment. Will be, fingers crossed, 12+4 by then. Hardly seems real. Am still bricking it about the possibility of another mc, despite the two good scans so far.

Looking forward to reading even more good scan news on here tomorrow - good luck biscuits :)

LadyMaybe · 15/09/2011 11:26

Hi there, had my scan earlier today and so far it's looking ok. I'm 6+4 by LMP, measured a couple days bigger and we saw a heartbeat. Well, they saw it, I sort of stared at the screen and tried to see the flicker but just mostly was a bit befuddled by it - how on earth they know where to measure is a mystery to me.
Weekly scans now, I think the next two will be hardest.
Sorry I'm on phone so a bit useless for a catch up but I'm pleased to see great scans so far!
biscuits your situation is very close to what happened to me last mc, so sad for your friend and difficult for you too. I think you can support her still, in particular I would emphasise staying in touch and asking her how she's doing regularly, but not expecting her to ask about your pregnancy once she knows. I actually did want to ask all about my friends pg as I'm a pg junkie, but that was my choice and my friend was very sensitive to it.

kat2504 · 15/09/2011 11:34

Oh fantastic news!!!! Am so pleased for you and measuring bigger is a definite good sign. I know what you mean about the heartbeat. The first time they showed me at 6 weeks I could hardly see what they were talking about, but at 9 weeks it was very clear.

LivinInTheMoment · 15/09/2011 11:45

I got my hospital apointment letter finally! But guess what, I'm on a waiting list. Ugghh! They can't give me a date as their schedule is full up and they must wait for a cancellation. I wish there was a wtf smilie on here cos thats how i feel...
There must be a baby boom going on here if I can't get an apointment at my local hospital. God how frustrating. So the waiting continues.

Lady Great news on your scan, so happy for you.

Biscuits Sounds like a good plan. And try not to worry too much, im sure she wouldn't like you to be worryin about her. Oh i meant to ask did your friend tell you how far along she was when she mc?

Hi Stitch re the angel sounds I've read they are very tricky to get the hb. you may have to wait til 18wks before you'll hear anything with that unit. Did you buy it brand new? Maybe u could return it and put the money towards a different doppler, maybe one of the 'sonoline b' copies that are all over ebay. (I posted a link to the pic on the previous page) This is the one i've been eyeing up, but DP is not really in favour of me getting it... Thinks will increase my mentalling... Hmm He could be right.

Kat great news on getting your letter! thats not too long to wait Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 15/09/2011 11:59

Lady great news about your scan Smile

Kat glad you got your appt through too - surprisingly that date isn't that far away now is it! Is that for your 12 week scan?

Livin Wowsers to being on a waiting list! Sorry if you've already said but what is the appt for? For a scan - apologies if I'm being dim - my excuse is baby brain and I'm sticking to it! Smile My friend was 9 weeks along when she m/c which would have put her about 3 weeks behind me Sad. It's an odd situation really as we aren't really that close but she is probably the person that knows the most about our problems ttc as we were going through it together. V v tricky.

Hope everyone else is ok - apologies if I've forgotten anyone Smile

LivinInTheMoment · 15/09/2011 12:34

Hey Biscuits! I should have said which appointment sorry! The apointment Im waiting for will be my first hospital apointment. I'm over 15wks, an im so keen to get in and see the midwife and have my bloods done an get weighed an all that.

So I rang my gp to see what he says, and he says not to worry i'll get called soon. hmmph!

Aw 9 wks is far along, poor thing. Yes its a tricky situation, but hopefully she will have good news to share in time to come. x

Biscuitsandtea · 15/09/2011 12:59

Ah Livin I see, did you not have a booking in appt at 8-10 weeks? I have to say, getting weighed was not the bit I was looking forward to! Blush

How bizarre though that you have to be on a waiting list to even get seen! Fingers crossed they haven't got a waiting list when you go into labour - eeek! Confused or maybe that should be legs crossed instead of fingers!

Biscuitsandtea · 15/09/2011 13:06

I'm really hopeful that my friend will have good news soon - it has taken them approx 18 mths to get pg this time so am really hoping that it happens quickly this time for them.

Not that I could ever say this to them but I know DH and I had said that even if something went wrong with this pg, at least we'd got pg, which was at least one step in the right direction.

I think we were, in equal measures, terrified it would take as long again if something went wrong, but pleased that just maybe we would be able to manage it again?

Anyway, sorry to keep going on about this Sad

LivinInTheMoment · 15/09/2011 13:17

Well I had an early scan at EPU at approx 10wks, and since then have only been to see my gp at 12wks, who just listened with heart doppler and then sent me on my way to await apointment letter from hospital :(

To be honest when they do weigh me my weight is going to be higher than normal. I've already put up a stone since March this year, after being pg from March to May which ended in mc, then this pg from June to now. I ate all and anything i liked all summer. Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 15/09/2011 13:27

So have you had your dating scan Livin - did they do it at 10 weeks? It all seems a bit hit and miss? Odd qn maybe but are you in the uk? How frustrating for you! Is this normally how it happens near you?

Sorry for being so nosey - I've just never seem a programme of 'care' quite like this!

LivinInTheMoment · 15/09/2011 13:38

Officially no ive not had a dating scan. Unless the 10wk scan counted as that? Im not sure??

(we did go to a private clinic at 12wks to ease my mentalling, but that was private and hospital dont know that)

Im in Ireland, but all other mums i know here have been seen by 14wks at the hospital... :(

Biscuitsandtea · 15/09/2011 13:54

Well I hope they get you seen to sooner rather than later Sad

Is it worth calling the hospital to say that you see you're on the waiting list, but are they aware you're so far along?

The worst they can say is 'you're on the waiting list, so wait'!

I'm assuming you must get a week or two notice for when the appt would be and that's going to make you at least 17 weeks isn't it. I know you know all this - don't want to be going on and on and making you feel worse! I'm just terribly impatient for 'waiting' Blush

Moominsummermadness · 15/09/2011 17:51

Hello Ladies,

Great news, Dachs, Digi, Scarlet and Lady on your scans! Good luck for yours tomorrow, Biscuits.

I've been doing a bit of mentalling this week, had started to feel more confident after the bleeding stopped 2 weeks ago, and time moving on a bit, but then on Monday and again today, I've had some more spotting. It hasn't been much, but any at all is a bit of a worry! I was discharged from the EPAU after the scan at 6+4, and I would have to go back through my GP to be re-referred. I know from before though, that they are only really concerned if the bleeding is heavy, or with pain. I guess that I'll just have to keep an eye on it. I'm now 9 +4, but haven't got my 12 week scan until 7/10, when I'll be 12+5- it seems so far away. I think I'm fearing going for the scan, and being told the worst. Yet, despite all of this, I still feel really sick at times (especially when faced with smells from cleaning products!), am incredibly tired, and I'm gaining a little pot belly already. My mum told me off for being negative, but it's hard not be be sometimes!! Sorry for being a bit doom and gloom, I hope everyone else is ok!

stitchinline · 15/09/2011 19:19

Quick update - scan was all good and baby is looking just like it should. Very relieved Grin

kat2504 · 15/09/2011 19:21

lovely news stitch :)

notnowImreading · 15/09/2011 19:24

I would love a little pot belly, Moomin! It must be so nice to get to the point where you can actually see something.

I went back to work today and told my boss I'm pregnant and how rough I'm feeling. He was so nice to me! He did a little dance and gave me a kiss then cancelled the meeting in the afternoon so I could get on top of other stuff. He's a really crusty old bloke normally but I couldn't have asked for a more lovely reaction - made me remember that being pg might be something to be happy about instead of just petrified the whole time. I think I'm really lucky. Smile

notnowImreading · 15/09/2011 19:25

Oh, I didn't mean to cross out 'see'. How do you do italics?

kat2504 · 15/09/2011 19:26

Great news Stitch! So pleased for you.

digitalgirl · 16/09/2011 07:39

Grin for stitch!

Thanks for updating the list ladym

Feel a bit of a fraud seeing myself as 9+5 today when scan measured 2 days behind on weds. But think I'll leave it as that till my official dating scan anyway.

kat2504 · 16/09/2011 07:42

OMG 10+1 This is a record for me. I am having a celebratory cup of non-decaff coffee to mark my foray into double figures :)

I really wish I could have another scan. Two and a half weeks to go is just pure torture. I need to save my pennies in case, all being well, they don't scan me between 12 and 20 weeks. That would be unthinkable and so I'm saving my private scan fund for a 16 weeker.

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2011 07:44

Yay Kat - 10+1 is brilliant news!!! Well done. Smile keep ticking 'em off....

scarletfingernail · 16/09/2011 10:21

Fantastic to see another happy scan update. Thats great news stitch

Congratulations Kat I know how you feel, it seems like ages in between scans doesn't it.

Moomin sounds like the signs are all positive. No heavy bleeding, no pain and feeling sick. Any blood loss is a worry I know, but yours sounds like nothing to panic about. Feeling sick around cleaning products sounds like a good thing. Perfect excuse not to bother.
