Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VIII

dooscooby · 20/07/2011 12:53

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

what a relief dachs there is no reason to feel silly about being stressed. You had plenty of good reasons to be that way. I'm pleased that they saw you earlier, now you can rest easier at night. Does this mean that both embryos are still there?

For me, the sonographer was the most important person in my life. Seeing her and waiting for what she had to say consumed most of my thoughts and energies.

Thanks for the wishes moomin and biscuits I wish I could fast forward to 14:10 on Friday. It was originally booked for Monday, but my MW appointment was the same day and I couldn't change it without having to wait for 2 weeks for another one. I'm pleased that it is sooner, waiting over the weekend would have been grim.

notnowImreading · 06/09/2011 19:47

Am I too late to join you when the thread is so full already? I'm only just pregnant (4+5) but have 'known' for ages as had symptoms from about 5dpo. I miscarried at 6 weeks last time so am extra anxious this time out.

kat2504 · 06/09/2011 19:51

Hi there not now and welcome. And congratulations on your pregnancy :) This first stretch is a very anxious time and I'm sure we will all be freaking out for some time yet.

notnowImreading · 06/09/2011 19:59

Thank you Kat! Nice to be on a thread that does what it says on the tin.Smile

Purpletoes · 06/09/2011 20:16

so pleased for yo dachs nevermind the dinner!

milkyways · 06/09/2011 21:19

Very pleased for you dachs, glad it ended up being nothing!

Welcome to the thread notnow - wishing you a boring and uneventful pregnancy!

Good luck for your scan tomorrow digi, hopefully everything will be fine.

LAF Wow 12 weeks already! Is this your last scan, or will you have more after this one? I was discharged from my epu at 13 weeks and used a doppler for reassurance after that.

I think I am ready to move my name to the graduates list now. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to actually believe I'm still pregnant! Even though this is my second baby, it still feels like a first pregnancy, because I was blissfully unaware of my changing body/symptoms last time. I guess I was just very innocent.

at everyone!!

LAF77 · 06/09/2011 21:30

milky go for it, graduate now, you have run the gauntlet and are still pg. I wish I could give you a little piece of paper, that says, congratulations, you've made it this far!

As for me, I have not been to see my hateful EPU, thankfully. St. Mary's has graduated me from their care, so I am now in the care of my local hospital. I will be scanned by the Obstetric Ultrasound department at my hospital. I still haven't been to see my midwife for the booking in because there is such a shortage of appointments, that it took me 5 weeks to see her. I'll see how long I can go without a doppler.

Welome not now the first 3 months are such a frightening time. I'm not sure how I've made it without going totally crazy. This board has been a help, just to get my feelings out there to try and deal with them.

Still so pleased for you dachs

LAF77 · 07/09/2011 05:55

Thinking of you today digi what time is your scan?

Biscuitsandtea · 07/09/2011 06:45

Well done Milky - I feel like we should give you an honorary cap and gown or something. Do pop back in and see us won't you?

Dachs I am soooooo relieved that it wasn't ectopic and that they managed to see you quickly etc. Hope you're feeling calmer now (and goodness, don't you worry about dinner - I'm not surprised you were a bit flustered having to leave at such short notice!)

Notnow congrats on your pregnancy. There's always room for one more here, although sorry that you have a reason to be freaking out (iyswim). I've found it very very helpful here - as LAF says, the first 3 mths in particular are so hard so we are here for hand holding etc on demand Smile

Good luck today Digital - will be keeping everything crossed for you xx

kat2504 · 07/09/2011 08:23

sending best wishes and good vibes in the direction of digitalgirl hope your nerves are holding out ok at the moment and you have a lovely scan.

digitalgirl · 07/09/2011 09:37

Baby measures 8+3, with a strong heartbeat! Am crying my eyes out anyway!!!

Started the trembly lip thing as soon as entered the scan room and sonographer asked me what was wrong, had to explain it was just nerves. Took her time as it was an external scan and was expecting internal and hadn't filled my bladder. But all is well! Am going to enjoy this moment!

Biscuitsandtea · 07/09/2011 09:38

Yay!!! That's great news digi - so pleased for you. How does 8+3 compare with what you were expecting?

Congrats again GrinGrin

LAF77 · 07/09/2011 09:42

I'm a bit teary for you too digi so pleased for you!

kat2504 · 07/09/2011 09:45

Oooh digi that is absolutely fantastic!! So so happy for you :) :)

digitalgirl · 07/09/2011 10:02

I thought I was 8+2, so to be a day further on is a bonus! Thanks for your support ladies. This is the furthest I've got since ds, so it's a huge milestone for me.

CollieandPup · 07/09/2011 10:50

wonderful news digi. Congratulations!!! Grin

milkyways · 07/09/2011 16:06

Yay! Congratulations digi!! Excellent news!

Thanks LAF and biscuits!

I have finally got some time to myself to update the list. I went to post office today to send a parcel, opened my bag to pay and I'd left my purse at home! God I was so embarrassed! I just put my head down and ran out! My brain is officially mush!
Anyway, here goes, hope I do it correctly!
