Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

I think we frequent the same epu (not been stalking you, just based on what you said earlier this year in other forum) and it's never nice to think of anyone stuck in there. Wishing you all the best for coming months.

biscuits not long now - hope you're holding out ok. LAF so pleased your scan was ok after the scare. angela welcome! Waves to stitch and everyone else.

moomin glad you appointment brought a bit of calm...hope it lasts till your next scan!

biscuits good luck for this afternoon x

angela that is fantastic news, passing 12 weeks much feel like such a milestone, very pleased for you Smile

LAF I'm so happy for you Grin

I've joined all of you that are in mega stress mode, it's my 12 week (well 11 and 4!) scan on Friday and the nightmares started last night, so now spent all day upset at my lack of symptoms (why choose today to feel thinner?!) and trying to prepare myself for the bad news aaaggghhhh 2 more sleeps is far too long!

scarletfingernail · 17/08/2011 14:16

Hi all
Can I join you? I got a BFP this morning and am delighted, excited and terrified of having another MC. Freaking out big time.

I have 1 DS (2.7) and have had 2 MCs since. 1 at beginning of December 2010 and 1 at end of Jan 2011. Not sure of the reasons for either.

So, I find myself with a BFP and although I'm trying not to look too far ahead and just think of it as a positive test at this stage, it's so damn hard!

I've already "spoken" with some of you on the miscarriage boards in the past under a previous name and I "know" Biscuits from the No brooking conception thread.

Biscuitsandtea · 17/08/2011 15:08

Welcome Scarlet GrinGrinGrin

V quick message as on phone and running slooooooow, but jelly bean is in the right place, teeny tiny flickering heartbeat, measuring 19mm = 8+3 which is further than I thought but good.

Thanks for all your support in the run up - you've kept me sane. Will do a better post later xx

LAF77 · 17/08/2011 15:15

Hooray for biscuits brilliant news and so very pleased for you :o

Also welcome scarlet, congrats on the bfp :)

am making myself sick at the moment munching on tangfastics

Biscuitsandtea · 17/08/2011 16:03

I'll add myself to the list tomorrow after m/w booking in and go with her dates (or his, I suppose my m/w could be a man?) Would they be a midhusband?

Velvetcu · 17/08/2011 16:40

yay congrats LAF and biscuits on your good scan news.

milkyways · 17/08/2011 17:45

Well done for putting yourself on the list LAF. Just wanted to share with everyone that I'm currently drinking my first cup of coffee since March and my first since getting pregnant!! I'd almost forgotten the taste! I think I've earned it!

Moominsummermadness · 17/08/2011 18:48

Thought I'd posted, but it's disappeared!

Great news, LAF and Biscuits, really happy for both of you!

Moominsummermadness · 17/08/2011 18:50

ooh, and Stitch, I became hooked on tangfastics with DD2! A bag wouldn't last the afternoon, I'm surprised I've still got nice teeth with no holes!

angela85 · 17/08/2011 21:38

Hi guys. just a quick message as its been a hectic day, my daughters 3rd birthday. I'm amazed I survived the stress!
just wanted to pop in to see how it went with biscuits and laf, and I'm so pleased for both of you.
despite getting past the 12 week milestone, I don't think I'm brave enough to move on yet so if its ok with everyone I think I'm gonna stick around here for a while.
good luck for Friday shell and welcome scarlet, best of luck to you this time around. Xxx

Biscuitsandtea · 17/08/2011 22:01

Thanks Angela and hope you all had a lovely birthday day with your daughter Smile. Please feel free to hang around, it's nice having positive stories of people getting to 12 weeks Smile

Hope it continues to go well for you x

Purpletoes · 18/08/2011 06:58

Sorry I have been lax recently.

So sorry to hear about the losses freelance and doitnicely

Congrats on the scans biscuits and laf

Nothing much to report here. I am not feeling quite so tired but still no sign of a real bump although jeans no longer need a belt to hold them up! Blush

I have just finished a 10 day run at work so looking forward to arelaxing 4 days.

Hope everyone else is good.

scarletfingernail · 18/08/2011 08:11

Thanks for the welcomes.

Can I ask? Those of you who had previous early MCs, how are you coping with any anxiety this time around?

I'm intending to keep my news to myself, DH and my GP for as long as possible (until 12 weeks at least, but may crack and tell our parents if I get to 8) I'm a sahm so spend most days alone with a toddler and the people who I do socialise with in the day I would rather not tell just yet. How did you deal with the worry when there's no one to talk to about it?

Another quick question? How does this thread actually work? Blush Do you guys stay on here until the birth or do you hop over to another one at 12 weeks? This part of MN is new to me so not sure how it works when I read all the lists with dates etc on.

Biscuitsandtea · 18/08/2011 08:37

Hi Scarlet,

As you know from my previous ramblings on the brooking thread I mainly dealt with my anxiety by rambling away to anyone polite enough to listen on here! Blush

I am also a sahm and I know what you mean about not wanting to say. We went for a scan (as you know) at 8 weeks and that gave me something to focus on.

We are also not going to tell that many people until 12 weeks. We told parents and my sister yesterday and will tell DH's bro when we see them at the weekend. Other than that I'm hoping to hold out until the 12 week scan. The only people we're telling now we would tell if something went wrong if you see what I mean?

As for how the thread works, I don't think there's a rule as such. There is a grads thread on the ante-natal clubs board but I think people head over there when they feel a bit more 'confident'. I think that varies for each person but a lot of people seem to move between 12-20 weeks. I guess it's just where you feel more comfortable?

I would post a link to the grads thread for you but on phone and not that clever!

How does it work for you in terms of telling your GP / mw etc? I have my mw booking in appt this afternoon. Don't have to see the GP at all unless I want to. How many weeks do you think you are?

Biscuitsandtea · 18/08/2011 08:51

Btw, I might know this already but how old is your DS Scarlet?

Biscuitsandtea · 18/08/2011 08:51

Or DD?

scarletfingernail · 18/08/2011 08:52

Thanks Biscuits. I know I'm only 4 weeks. I told my GP yesterday. I'd already got an appointment to see him about something unrelated but I got my BFP yesterday morning before I went, so I told him while I was there. He's great actually, was really kind and helpful when I had my MCs.

Usually at my practice you don't get to see a MW until between 8 & 10 weeks but he's booked me in with her for when I get to 6. Not sure what difference it will make but he seems to think she'll refer me for an early scan at 8 weeks, something he's now unable to do, the rules have changed apparently.

I love being a sahm but it's times like this I miss work a bit. At least when you're at work you can put things like this to the back of your mind even if only temporary. I just know I'm going to be thinking about this pregnancy constantly and I really want to avoid getting worked up.

scarletfingernail · 18/08/2011 08:57

DS is 2.7 How old is yours? DS or DD?
