minih sorry the witch got you, I agree with you that each AF does get easier, I feel the same way. Fx for Wednesday and fx your turn is soon.

boba thanks for popping in, sorry to see babyboba hasn't arrived yet, hope your sweep goes ok, or even better baby arrives before then - when is/was your due date?

sprinkles i'm 11dpo today and AF due today (according to fertility friend) as usually only have 11 day LP. My m has been flashing since yesterday. I shall no doubt be frantically knicker checking all day these last few days have really dragged - I must also confess to doing an i/c this morning which was BFN - someone fish slap me for ignoring my own advice not to test to early AND not to use i/c Blush.

Good luck to you sprinkles in awe of your will power waiting until Saturday!

sprinkles77 · 19/09/2011 15:16

minih sorry about AF. poo isn't it?

the other reason for me not to test early this month is it's my birthday on wednesday so would prefer any disappointment to occur after!

farfallarocks · 19/09/2011 16:05

Sorry about AF, nightmare isnlt it?

Looks like another chem pregnancy for me, after BFPs all weekend, now getting BFNs and cramps, argh!!

Loup23 · 19/09/2011 17:28

oh sorry to hear that far is it defnitely CP? Have you changed the tests you're using? Fx it isn't a CP.

Looks like AF is on her way for me Sad, have awful tummy ache and am sure the tissue was tinged with pink when I just wiped (sorry tmi) usual story I get spotting, convince myself it's some sort of implantation and then AF arrives, am starting to wonder if it will ever happen....

Loup23 · 19/09/2011 17:29

Happy Birthday for wednesday sprinkles hope saturday brings you a BFP birthday pressie! x

Keziahhopes · 19/09/2011 17:37

Far so sorry to hear your news. Have you had any tests, as my problem was implanting (a daily 75mg aspirin was all I needed in the end to conceive, few more meds to maintain a bfp) - is it worth going to your gp and asking for testing etc.

Keziahhopes · 19/09/2011 17:42

PS - for tests I never had the 3 miscarriages so didn't qualify for miscarriage tests on NHS but had NHS tests for infertility which took 13 months from beginning to end. In the end we went private and had all the tests we needed to look at what the real issues were for me (not just the infertility but why ivf even didn't work) - more expensive but less stressful option. Initial appointment of £150ish for 1hr to talk to consultant to discuss what issues were was the best value money we spent after some very stressful years.

farfallarocks · 19/09/2011 17:57

Thanks Kezia that sounds like a plan!

I am seeing Raj Rai privately next Thurs, have decided to go privately and have all the tests done as I just can't wait for it to happen a third time!

Can;t believe a simple aspirin was all it took, am hoping they can give me some answers and its something they can sort!

xx

farfallarocks · 19/09/2011 17:59

Who did you see by the way?
Everyone seems to specialise in different issues so you almost have to know what your problem is before you go!

MiniH · 19/09/2011 19:35

Far so sorry to hear your news. Fx for your appointment.

Happy birthday for Wednesday sprinkles

boba82 · 19/09/2011 21:22

Sorry to hear your news Farfallarocks I had 2 CPs myself before eventually getting a BFP. Good luck for your appointment though, maybe start the asprins anyway? x

Happy Birthday for Wed Sprinkles hope you have.a lovely day Grin x

Loup hopefully not AF on her way for you. It will happen - Keziah & me proof of that. Am currently a week overdue but due to medical reasons they aren't keen to induce me but should find out Wed how long they plan to leave me.

farfallarocks · 20/09/2011 08:49

Thanks boba, did you self medicate the aspirin or did you have some tests that indicated that might be a problem?

Good luck with it all and hoping baby boba gets a shift on!

sprinkles77 · 20/09/2011 10:06

boba sorry for your news. Hopefully with an appointment planned you feel like there is some progress being made in the right diretion.

Thanks for birthday wishes ladies. CBFM started flashing M today (mght have done so yesterday but I didn't turn it on), which is sooner than I expected. Still planning to hold out tll saturday though. No symptoms anyway.

Keziahhopes · 20/09/2011 12:43

Far - I saw an obstetrician before I did ivf (which failed, this is a natural bfp miracle) as there will be complications for birth due to other health issues and she recommended aspirin, but I didn't like to take it due to ivf drugs etc. Then after ivf failed we paid for the Immune level 1 and level 2 tests (gp did a few of level 1 basic ones for us) and one of the early results showed I had a blood clotting issue, which is quite common and the treatment for it was aspirin and/or clexane injections (injections if do ivf or get a bfp) so I started the aspirin whilst queing to see one of the top reproductive immunologists to go over our results and give us a treatment protocol.

We saw, privately, Dr George Nduwke (consultation included in cost of tests which were £1600, but we did every single immune test necessary!) - he has just started a new clinic in Central London, but we saw him at the Care clinic where he was Medical Director before he moved. He is now working alongside Zita West (google her clinic for details, but you can just see him and avoid wasting time on what she does etc etc). He specialises in immune issues that cause implantation failure and repeat miscarriages. Other dr's that are well known in this field are Dr Gorgy and Dr Taransai - one based at ARGC which is an IVF clinic also if I remember rightly. Dr N was so happy it was a natural bfp for us, he wrote all the private prescriptions I needed (as lots of issues picked up by tests) to try and maintain bfp and wrote to my gp to get as much on nhs as possible (got all but intralipids and pessaries from my gp after 8 weeks). Obviously had to pay an admin cost for his time, as not doing ivf - but this included a scan and letters to my gp and prescriptions as well as seeing him once more.

I knew after 7 years of no contraception, over 36 months of serious ttc and no implantation and ivf failure there was something else wrong. We went down immune testing as I have one autuimmune issue already and it made more sense than doing chromosome testing of my eggs etc as no indication that was the issue for us.

Sorry for essay Far- if you have had 3 miscarriages the NHS will do basic miscarriage tests, which are some of the immune tests. They will not do all level 1 and 2 tests. Dr N tends to be seen as fairly conservative in treatment, which suited us rather than the more aggressive treatments of Dr Gorgy for instance. The NHS should also check if you have blocked tubes, issues with fibroids etc and healthy uterus, no STI's etc all of which can cause miscarriage issues. We had all those checks first and all were ok, on NHS. My issues were:
blood clotting issues - Factor V and PAI-P
thyroid too high for Dr N (he wants it below 2 for maintaining pregnancy, NHS ignores that and says it is ok)
Raised NK cells - 2 types

Basically I couldn't implant and then if I did I would reject any foreign matter in me due to my NK levels. I needed: aspirin, clexane, presnisilone, utrogestran, intralipids to week 12, plus the levothyroxine - 2 of these meds I carry on till birth the rest I have stopped now as the placenta takes over.

Keziahhopes · 20/09/2011 12:46

PS - yes in the end it was just the aspirin to get my first ever bfp, but more medications to maintain the bfp.

Hope seeing Raj Raj goes well for you. Just being able to ask all the questions and not be rushed in a consultation helps.

boba82 · 20/09/2011 15:05

far I didn't try the asprins. Tests at the FC showed I had PCOS and a blockage in right tube. Once they put me on Clomid I got my first proper BFP on 2nd cycle. CPs are actually really common but more noticed these days due to our hyper sensitive HPTs and us obsessive early testers. Doesn't make them any less upsetting and disappointing though Sad

kezia and boba thanks so much for this, really helpful

Keziahhopes · 20/09/2011 18:59

Hope your consultant appointment goes well and they recommend what area to explore - you are right we are all different, boba and I needed different approaches but both got the bfp's through it, as I am sure will.

farfallarocks · 20/09/2011 21:57

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your detailed response kezia

Will keep you posted!!

MiniH · 21/09/2011 13:38

I have clear tubes - hooray! The hycosy was pretty uncomfortable (felt like really bad period pains) but only lasted a few minutes so not bad, and was in and out the hospital within an hour. Consultant was happy with tubes and womb is right way as well, so all clear on that front. now we just need to decide what to do next - no further tests can be done, as its likely to be the morphology/mobility that's the issue, so either keep trying and hope for a little miracle, or pay for private ivf/iui. Not really sure yet what to do, but lots to mull over. On the one hand, I'm still young (33) but on the other hand I know success rates are better under 35, so don't want to wait too long to go down ivf/iui route, and the months seem to just fly by whilst waiting for this test and that, so don't imagine even private route will be that quick. argh! If only I had a crystal ball..........

boba82 · 21/09/2011 14:33

Good luck farfallarocks

MiniH that's great news. FX for you. x

Mini that's good isn't it? One more thing eliminated. Some friends of ours with male fertility issues have recently had their 2nd IVF baby. Got pg first cycle both times, she is 38 and had her first aged 36 so hopefully that sounds encouraging.

loup any news? CBFM flashing still here, Theoretically I'm at least 1 day late. I'm feeling a bit bleurgh today, headache and nauseous. Probably PMS. I did get a terrible migraine early on before I knew I was pg with DS, but I promised I wouldn't do this (symptom spotting) this month. Having said I wouldn't test till saturday, I think I might have to do it sooner, like Friday. How awful would it be if I had a fall or something riding and lost a pg that I didn't know was there? Just not worth the risk after all this trying.

Keziahhopes · 21/09/2011 16:39

Mini good to know tubes clear; apparently the procedure to check can aid fertility for a few months after for some people. Have they tested dh's semen and motility, because if issues there then they will recommend icsi probably. IUI is much cheaper than IVF/ICSI. Are you not able to get NHS funding? We got all basic tests (like hsg and bloods) and one ivf cycle here. Would you consider booking a free open evening at your local private fertility clinic to help you know what options there are for you? The consultantions usually have an 8wk wait on average and initial one is usually about £150 - to help you find out what they would recommend etc if you went that way.

raspberrytipple · 21/09/2011 18:39

Hello all! You can call me Mrs Tipple now! :)

Hope everyone is doing ok?

Sorry to hear about the chemical pg Far hope you are ok.

Seeing as there are a few on here who are having tests at the moment I thought I would update on my day today. I've decided to step right back from 'TTC' and just let the whole process happen as I can't do anything about it now but I went to the GP this morning as we have officially been off the pill for two years and actively trying to conceive for 13 months.

The GP was actually very nice, I've read so many horror stories of people being spoken down to or told that basically nothing will be done etc I was really worried but he was really nice and said that very first off, before anything, he would get DH to get a sperm test. DH was supposed to come with me but had problems with work so couldn't so he will have to go in separately. I thought that way was a bit odd because I always hear about women having bloods etc done first but he said that he preferred to do it the other way round as tests for women are so much more invasive so it avoids me being put through bloods/scans etc if it then turns out to be DH. We then went through my cycles, whether I knew how to spot ovulation and my 'symptoms' in terms of ovulating and periods etc and he seemed reasonably convinced that everything was working as it should in that respect which is good. He then said, 'really, you mustn't worry, so many women become stressed very quickly and there really is nothing wrong, it just takes some a while longer than others' then finished with 'don't worry, you WILL have a baby' and smiled. And that was pretty much it. Came out feeling very positive and understood/calmed/reassured by it all. He wasn't rude or patronising or off in anyway and that really was what I was expecting having heard so many horror stories as I say. GP did also say that they are erring towards asking people to wait 2 years these days before tests as they find starting tests usually ends up in people getting pregnant during the whole process and he pointed out that at 28 I am still plenty young enough not to need to be worried. DH is not so pleased that he has to go first :D but it's the easiest thing to rule out so that's fair enough.

So that's me, in other news, married life is pretty cool. Still finding getting used to my new name weird. I probably shouldn't stay on this thread as I have decided not to use sticks/CBFM any more but will keep you updated on the tests and stuff as it may be useful for someone else who googles in the future.
