Hi All

New person here. I'm on the first month of using the CBFM (had a MC in February).

I have had 7 days of HIGH and I becomes suspicious yesterday as I am on day 19 of cycle and I had the right sort of fertile dishcharge but still just HIGH and not PEAK.

So I thought I would check the result with a left over CB digital stick that I had been using last month, and got a smiley face, but this morning just HIGH again - so there you are, make of that what you will! .

jazzy283 · 25/05/2011 12:21

Dunnitt i am the same on day 18 and got no peak AF should arrive in 10 days :( but FX myself and DH have been at it like rabbits :) :)

Sorry to hear about your MC

Anyway Welcome i have got much comfort off all these lovely ladies xx

WaterKelpie · 25/05/2011 21:03

Hello Dunnitt! Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I've heard that the CBFM can take a few cycles to get used to your exact hormone levels, so that is probably the case for you, from what you describe.

jazzy, I love your comment - at it like rabbits! It made me smile!

MiniH · 25/05/2011 22:47

Welcome to all the newbies.

Dunnitt- I had that on my first proper month on cbfm - had high one morning, positive opk that afternoon and then high the following morning. I don't know if my surge was just short that month or if the cbfm just wasn't sensitive enough. Should hopefully work better next month for you.

jazzy283 · 26/05/2011 09:24

hey ok so update im on CD 19 with a high again still no peak AF due on CD 28 woke up today with dull ache in lower tummy and keep getting sharp pains again last night do come and go feel like af pains so i dont know whats going on this month has got me so Confused :( :(

MiniH · 26/05/2011 09:32

I'd maybe keep a log of aches, pains etc and then if af arrives you may be able to get an idea of when you ovulated. That way next month you can start to anticipate ov even if cbfm doesn't pick it up. I had to do that and then use opks the first two months to pinpoint ov but fx my cbfm seems to have got used to me now. I was on the verge of also temping but I was worried it would stress me out more. Hope it sorts itself soon!

MiniH · 26/05/2011 09:40

Does anyone have any thoughts on supplements - am already on a general pre- preg multivitamin and separate omega supplement, but given my very light af have been really bad and done some google self diagnosing. I think my lining is too thin hence the light af so am debating adding some other supplements to boost that - more specifically royal jelly and a super green powder that's basically got a tonne of green veg in powder form with flaxseed etc added. It is all natural and seems to me should do no harm as really just boosting my leafy green veg intake in easier way. The royal jelly only seems to have side effects if you have bee allergies.

Am I mad? I feel a bit like I am going to rattle soon with all the tablets, but if it might help it feels worth a try.I definitely think the multi fits and omega three helped regulate my cycle length and although I don't eat much junk food my fruit and veg intake is pretty poor.

jazzy283 · 26/05/2011 10:00

Minih i will do that i just hope i get my peaks nx time but hey as DH said its not over till AF arrives lol

Loup23 · 26/05/2011 10:28

MiniH and Loup - I too have very light, short AF, so if you find anything useful about this would be interested. Supplement wise for my DH we have had great results (improved semen numbers and motility that is due to 4 semen analysis tests!!) with the supplement Menevit..... one capsule a day, about £45 for 3 months supply from Australia, including postage costs. Recommended by Care fertility clinic.

farfallarocks · 26/05/2011 14:24

Me too! I suspect progesterone is the culprit here.
I have read mixed things abtou Agnus Castus helping with short luteal phases and also black cohosh?

I have just started taking the Zita West supplements, they do female and male versions.

Does anyone know a good private clinic in London to have some simple blood tests done? I have not been trying for long so know I can't go to the GP but I think it might chill me out to get the results (ie hormone levesl normal etc) or if there is a problem I would rather know now than in a year!

Thanks

boba82 · 26/05/2011 15:09

Sorry AF got you loup Sad good luck with the gp appt.

I wish I could be of some use to you ladies, where's KC when you need her?!

WaterKelpie · 26/05/2011 18:06

Hi MiniH! I wish I could be of some help but I am only taking normal pre-pregnancy vitamins. I did take agnus castus last year, in an attempt to try and regulate my cycle after coming off the pill, but it didn't seem to work for me. I just had to wait for things to normalise, which was very frustrating! I also tried evening primrose, before ovulation, but I never knew exactly when ovulation was, so I stopped taking it.

I've been trying to coerce my DH to take vitamins (just normal multivitamins, nothing special) but he only remembers when I actually get the pill out and put it in his hand with a glass of water! He's not very organised like that (and secretly I think he hates taking them as they are quite large). I should make more of an effort to remind him, as once he gets into a habit, it will be fine. (Obviously he thinks it is a good idea to take them. I sound like I am forcing them down his throat!)

Since my last miscarriage I have had exceedingly heavy, painful AF, so I've not looked for anything to make the lining thicker! I've never heard of royal jelly as a supplement though. Sorry I can't really help.

Keziahhopes, what is the difference is between Menevit and other brands of male conception hormones, if you know? They must be pretty amazing if you are willing to have them shipped from Australia.

MiniH · 26/05/2011 18:29

I thought about agnus castus but heard mixed reviews about it potentially messing up your cycle if it is regular so thought I'd steer clear of that now that cycles finally are regular.

Well, I took the leap today and took the royal jelly. It's what queen bees eat and they have zillions of baby bees- I know the anatomy is a little different but it's supposed to be good! Will let you know how I get on.

Waterkelpie - I know what you mean about dh and vits. Mine is less than keen and pulls a face at the smell of mine so havent managed to persuade him yet to take any. I guess once we get his test results back we can see if he needs any.

Far - I looked into private clinics in London and they were all quite pricey. London bridge and lister have price lists on their website but when you add up all the different tests on the blood plus consultation fee it seemed to stack up quickly. That said, I haven't ruled it out as gp dates for testing blood are a bit off. Let me know what you decide as would be curious as to final costs are.

Keziahhopes · 26/05/2011 18:40

Ingredients
Each capsule contains the following:

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) 100mg
Zinc (as zinc sulphate monohydrate) 25mg
d-alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E) 400iu
Folic Acid 500mcg
Lycopene 6mg
Garlic oil (equiv. allium sativum bulb fresh 1g) 333mcg
Selenium (as selenomethionine) 26mcg

Menevit capsules are gluten free and free of animal product.

You can get all of these things separately, but when we heard that there was one tablet that had zinc, folic acid, lycopene, garlic and selenium in it works out cheaper to pay for just one. Total cost is £15 a month. Will find the weblink we use and add it. We have male factors of infertility - low number of sperm, antibody disorder of 30% (due to undiagnosed undescented testacle as a child, operated on near puberty!) but should be able to get pregnant we were told despite this. We had ICSI (6yrs of no contraception told us we needed help!!) and the % of fertilisation of eggs is about 60-70% and we got 80%, so thrilled (had 5 eggs, 4 fertilised but the egg not fertilsed apparently had a hole in it so no use if fertilised!) and so my Dh now on menevit all the time as his numbers have increased from 33% to 49% on it. Motility is still not great, but that is the antibody issue.

Keziahhopes · 26/05/2011 18:43

cincottachemist.com.au/search/menevit

cost in £ is £43 (and some pence) for 3 months. Comes in Royal Mail post, so ok if not in as know where to go. We get Menevit 90. Care Fertility Clinics recommend this for men with male issues. And no don't work for either!!

WaterKelpie · 26/05/2011 21:09

Thanks Keziahhopes, I will look into that. It certainly seems better than an average multivitamin. Although it would be a bit of a waste to buy them if DH forgets to take them!

Keziahhopes · 26/05/2011 21:26

yes, forgetting them would be no use Grin - dh very good, he takes his and gives me mine after our evening meal!!

weimy · 26/05/2011 22:49

Hi all

Just quickly checking in and will read prev posts tomorrow as it looks like there is a lot of valuable advice for newbies! CD9 tomorrow and not poas yet, I usually get up with the dogs at 530 and go to the loo then, is it ok to store it and check it later say seven thirty? Or is that too long to keep it?

Hope everyone is ok xx

MiniH · 27/05/2011 07:17

Weimy - yes, according to the manual that is fine. Haven't tried it myself.

Hi All

Boba I'm still around!

How's everyone today? The thread's been really busy in the last week.

Kitty your post made me chuckle. Grin

Not much really of interest for me to add at the moment, just wanted to say that I'm still around and lurking during the week. Just been too tired to post in the evenings.
