Hi KC - is work going well for you, hope so?!

KnackeredCow · 29/05/2011 17:08

Keziah yes work is good. I am really enjoying it, just had forgotten what it feels like being the new girl! Worked at my last company for 6.5 years so knew everybody. Now I'm struggling to remember names. It's a bit overwhelming, but what new role isn't?

Going back to work has really helped with me feeling down. At least I don't dwell on things so much, and as I'm earning I have a car again, so I've got my freedom back at weekends. DH on-call this weekend (rubbish - and I'm about to ov). However, now I have my own car again it at least meant that I could easily get over to a friend's last night, which was lovely. Went out for dinner and stayed over so I could have some Wine. Feeling a bit sleepy this afternoon although this is obviously not related to the amount of Wine I drank in any way shape or form. Contemplating watching a chick flick and curling up on the sofa!

WaterKelpie · 29/05/2011 17:13

Jazzy - I'm glad you got a high, but shame about the timing. Fingers crossed that everything works out for you.

Hi KC. I hate being the new girl too! I regularly do supply work so end up in a different class every week, surrounded by new faces! And my memory isn't that great.

Nothing to report this weekend. I'm 5 dpo, so just waiting...

Keziahhopes · 29/05/2011 18:03

KC - what a perfect Sunday (apart from dh on duty!), and am glad you are settling in well and have that freedom back again.

Well am in 2ww, yet again Grin

Kelpie - enjoy half-term!

KnackeredCow · 29/05/2011 18:45

Yes enjoy half term all you teachers! I'm looking forward to less traffic on the roads this week. Smile

Yes, I'm having a good Sunday. Just pottering really. Plan to go shopping tomorrow for some holiday and work clothes.

Good luck for the 2ww Keziah. I'm not going to be far behind you this month (CD12 for me)

Kelpie FX for you. I'm always frantically symptom spotting from about 2 hours past ov!

Hi All

Just checking in - been off MN for a couple of weeks to chill out about TTC.

Welcome all newbies, this place is my saviour from time to time.

I am CD15 no peak, over slept yesterday and missed my window so may have missed the surge, but have a sneaky feeling I may have OV'd really early this cycle - had ewcm a week ago and nothing now.

My stupidly sore boobs last month that got me all excited about a possible BFP, has again happened this month, so clearly a hormonal thing. Very annoying and painful! I have an appt with the endocrinologist booked (finally) for end of June so if no BFP for me by then I guess I'll be on metformin. The cabergoline seems to have reduced my prolactin and straightened some of my hormones but still not pg!!!!!!

KC glad your job is going well.

Keziah I have everything crossed for you!

Anyone able to shed any light on my boob issues Blush or why today I have spotting (never had any at all other than day before full AF) Confused

raspberrytipple · 30/05/2011 19:24

Hello Ladies could I join you? Been around for a while on the Frolickers thread but am on month three with the CBFM. Got a peak (three bars?) yesterday and today but it came with no 'high days'? That happened on the first month of using too but last month I had 7 days of highs from about day 16 but was on holiday and ran out so couldn't keep poas until I got a peak. I also had a 34 day cycle last month so am a bit confused as it's usually 29/30 days. Not sure if it's working properly.

Anyway, this is our 10th month of trying properly. Am getting married in August but am starting to get desperate to have a baby, literally it's all I can think about at the moment! Driving me nuts :(

Keziahhopes · 30/05/2011 19:55

Hi SBC - I have no idea about sore boobs am afraid, although it is only a few months since you started getting prolactin level lower so I guess if you counted first month of prolactin as your first months of ttc, ie as able to physically, you are still in early stages of ttc! I ordered another prolactin test from my gp - need to go to receptionist to get results this week, but yet again another gynaecologist said as long as it is below 1000, ie no tumour growing, they will not do anything to lower it (it has been up to 998!!!).

Hi *Raspberry.... I found that it wasn't until I used the CBFM that I realised I wasn't a regular 28 day cycle, that is probably what you are finding too... so your peaks will vary. Congrats of wedding. Feel free to add your stats below/

SBC You mention that in the past you've had high prolactin levels. My understanding is that prolactin inhibits ovulation (it's why breastfeeding on demand stops your periods returning after giving birth and inhibits fertility).

I am just wondering whether your sore boobs are PMS related? Sore boobs are normally due to progesterone, which is secreted by the corpus luteum (the left over part of the follicle after its rupture due to ovulation). Progesterone levels begin to rise after ovulation, peaking about 7 days thereafter (if you don't conceive), after which they fall. If you do conceive progesterone levels remain high.

Whether or not you conceive, the increasing levels of progesterone can cause sore boobs. The gradual fall in progesterone from about 8dpo (if you don't conceive) triggers menstruation. It's not uncommon to begin to spot as progesterone falls.

I am just wondering whether the lowering of your prolactin levels has kick-started ovulation and what you are experiencing are the normal symptoms of PMS. I mean that positively, I don't want to crush your hopes by implying that you might not be pregnant (you could be), but I don't want to give false hope. If you are not pregnant, then I think the symptoms are very promising. They could indicate that things are working normally. Smile

I may be talking complete rubbish, but it would make sense if you think you ov'd some time earlier in your cycle.....

Thanks both! Will be interesting to see what happens and if nothing else if we need to go to the docs after the wedding (will have been a year by then) we will have a bit of info to give them. Hoping it won't come to that though

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 30/05/2011 21:04

Thanks ladies, as ever! The boob thing seems to be starting just prior to ov, so would appear to be oestrogen related - I shall bombard the endo with my questions! I was apparently ovulating with the high prolactin levels just a lot later in the cycle. Having consulted lord google again about the matter, seems it may calm down after a couple of months, so fingers crossed.

Keziah it is amazing how differently GPs and gynaes work. My GP would've never sent me to the endo, it was the gynae that sent me as appeared the only thing stopping my fertility. I think cabergoline is quite expensive (more than they get back on the prescription) my GP surgery seems to go into meltdown about me having it! I just can't understand why yours won't give it a go Confused

Raspberry getting the peak is the main thing! The first month my hormones were being sorted out I went from low to peak, but since have been getting 5-6 days of highs then peaks. If you are getting 2 lines on the stick is a good indicator, it goes to peak when the line closest to pee end is darker than the other - ie LH surge detected. Good luck with it - and your wedding plans - I'm getting married on 17th June, so have that mostly on my mind and have worked out should be OV towards the end of honeymoon - should be good timing!!

MiniH · 31/05/2011 07:45

Morning all - hope everyone had a lovely bank holiday!

Well, news here is that I think I might be having ovulation pain - admittedly this is based purely on the fact that I got my peak today ( and positive opk yesterday) and I'm in pain, but I'm sticking to that theory for now until proven otherwise!

I have also booked in for an acupuncture session tomorrow - I've heard very good things about it helping with blood flow, and given scant af that can only be a good thing. Will let you know how it goes - quite nervous actually about all those needles.

boba82 · 31/05/2011 10:42

Morning all

SBC I had exactly the same thing. My boobs were actually more painful before AF than they were in early pregnancy, especially my nipples. Cruelly tricked me a few times into thinking I was pregnant. I have PCOS so that's the only thing I can relate it to - my muched up hormones. Never had the problem when I was on the pill. Hope you get some answers soon. x

Welcome to rasperry and good luck.

MiniH I had acupuncture to try and regulate my cycles before being diagnosed with PCOS. You'll love it. It's so relaxing - although does take a bit of getting used to! I found it a great stress reliever. Let us know how you get on.

OP posts:
WaterKelpie · 31/05/2011 11:55

Morning everyone!

Hi Raspberry! Good luck with the CBFM.

SBC, I had the same thing last month. I very rarely get sore boobs (only when pregnant before) so I was really excited last month, and then disappointed when I didn't get BFP. I actually did three tests (including expensive First Response) because I was so convinced I was pregnant. I still have no idea why it happened last month and never before without BFP. Just one of those horrible coincidences!

MiniH, let us know how the acupuncture goes. I'm not a big needles fan, but I've heard that it's relaxing (which my mind cannot quite comprehend, as I'm sure I would spend most of the time feeling uncomfortable and terrified).

Congratulations Jazzy on the peak! Fingers crossed for you! I'm halfway through TWW and am trying hard to pretend that I'm not thinking about it. I've had absolutely no symptoms so far, but then it is very early days and realistically I shouldn't expect anything for a while (doesn't stop me hoping though).

jazzy283 · 31/05/2011 11:59

Kelpie

I know how you feel rubbish aint lol :) :) the way i see it at least i got my peak lol even if it was late AF due on Saturday thats only 7 days after peak ???

jazzy283 · 31/05/2011 12:01

raspberry Welcome and FX for you :)

Keziahhopes · 31/05/2011 16:10

Sorry KC - I couldn't add up - oops.

Yes, my prolactin is between 600 and 900 and no Gp nor 3 different gynae's now (including one private) seem to think I need medication to lower it, despite my dh's antibody issue only at 30%. Hence my request again for a blood test... then I am going to ask gp for nhs or private referral to an endocrinologist as I am fed up of not getting a chance to lower it. 3 tests are above 600, 6yrs of no contraception - even gynae said we should have got pregnant naturally by now. Have paid £££ for blood tests recently to see if any immune issues - if they are negative, will spend more money going to endo privately and then insisting on nhs paying for any treatment if it is needed.... as you say SBC the gp's not keen on referring on due to costs and I am guessing the private gynae not want me to get pregnant naturally due to loss of business to them and nhs gynae not want any costs to them. Gosh, am cycnical about this now - especially when I see what other gynae's do, ie help their patients!!

Good luck with accupuncture MiniH - I love it!

Keziahhopes · 31/05/2011 18:24

wow - went to gp's to ask for results and for the first time in 3 years my prolactin seems normal - 272 mid-cycle!! Wonder if that is due to me coming off some medications in past few months?! ~Also had done my FSH and LH (didn't ask for it) mid-cycle, which I know is pretty useless, I think it was day 14 out of a 28-30 day cycle, with:
FSH 6.1
LH 24

are these ok? Mean anything to anyone?

WaterKelpie · 31/05/2011 22:44

Sorry Keziah, those numbers mean nothing to me. I had bloods done last year and the doctor just said they were 'normal' and sent me on my way!
