A safe place for everyone on the TTC after MC rollercoaster. Welcome and come in - virtual wine and chocolate for all, and lots of support and hand-holding until you get your BFP!

The thread moves fast but don't let that put you off - feel free to come along and stay to chat; or dip in and out with any questions.

If you want to join the stats, just add yourself to the list:

WTTC = waiting to TTC
UCL = usual cycle length

Good luck to all - here's hoping for lots of healthy, sticky BFPs by the end of the thread!

Whoo hoo Owl that's fab news!! look on the bright side, you get another opportunity to see your bean, even if it is costing you money!

Velvet 6lb!!! Well done.

I have to confess I stood on the scales this morning too. It seems pg is also good for weight loss Hmm. I've lost 5lb in two weeks Shock So despite feeling puky, I've been force feeding myself today. I need some of Nixster's 6 weetabix a day or whatever it was regime, but that would make me hurl. Blurergh!

owlbooty · 19/01/2011 16:13

6 weetabix? Last I heard she was on 4 iced buns a day Grin

Wombat feeling pukey is an excellent sign. Just keep yourself hydrated, it's really easy to not drink enough when it makes you feel grotty.

cep · 19/01/2011 16:57

quick question again about temping sorry. those who have noticed temp changes when they drink, does it make a difference how much you drink? and are there big changes in temp????

(dh out tonight and fancy a glass of red before he comes home)

MummyAbroad · 19/01/2011 17:14

cep I thought I was getting away with having one or two glasses and it not affecting things (anymore definitely does for me) BUT I had two glasses yesterday, and have a high temp today and dont know if its ov or booze (or cold) Confused

I think if you are just starting, the ideal thing is to establish what is normal for you without the booze or just make a note of it and see if it looks like an erroneous temp later on.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 19/01/2011 17:16

cep if I've had one, maybe two, glasses of wine I don't really tend to notice it. Any more than that and I do ssometimes get quite an alarming shift upwards. Are you using ff? If so, chill out, have a glass (or two!) of red, mark your temp as normal tomorrow but mark it as "drinking". Then if you look back on it in a few days and it's way out of line with the rest (unlikely on one glass!) you can always "discard" it.

mummya glad dh is playing ball!! I couldn't access the link to your chart but hope you'll see a clear temp shift soon.

YRMOTB I've stalked your chart and it's looking good! Are you going to try a digi tomorrow?

Great news on the scan Owl Grin

Think I must be ovulating, my boobs are bloody killing me! Oooh now what to do, what to do? I thought my peak ovulating day would be friday so we agreed to not have sex tomorrow and save it up as such for friday as the consultant said every other day but now I am thinking we should def do it tomorrow if I am ovulating today. What do you reckon? Do you think there is any harm SWI everyday through the peak period or are we better every other?

ZamMummyInGabs · 19/01/2011 17:45

cep do it today Grin the theory is that the swimmers are better off to be already in place when ov happens, ready to snap up that egg (yes, I know they don't actually do that, though the thought of them as little crocs is novel...) of course if you already had some early morning action then maybe wait till tomorrow to allow them time to - er, come again? Wink (sorry)

We SWI on Thurs (thank God I don't know any of you in RL) as I thought that was ov day, but TCOYF said it was Weds so chance of success on that occasion was "low".

If I ever make it to a MN meetup I will be so embarrassed - the stuff that gets shared on here Shock

cep · 19/01/2011 17:52

thank you mummya izzy and zam

Sorry mummya i somehow missed your earlier post i used to do it with the first wee but still nothing, although i don't think i did it for the whole month that time. i think i'll start doing in morning and at 14:00 that way i'm covering both. once i've run out that's it i think it'd be best to concentrate on the temp and cm. I only just started doing the cm thing a couple of days ago so again have nothing to really compare to, i need to try it throughout the month so i know the difference.

I'm so sorry if this is embarrassing but can you actually tell if it's open and closed??

zam me too, i never discuss this amount of detail anywhere else, even to dh.

ZamMummyInGabs · 19/01/2011 18:02

Sorry meant to say chloe Blush

Was it you who asked why I'm in Botswana? - DH does health service management stuff for developing country governments, so we have been here (Gaborone, the capital) a year. Before that we were in Zambia for 5 years - hence my name :)

MummyAbroad · 19/01/2011 18:07

Sorry, havent posted my chart in aaaaaaages. Did it all wrong!

Place your best on ov results tomorrow after my scan

cep · 19/01/2011 18:08

zam i realised but am still taking the advice in mind. Wink Grin what do you do over there??

MummyAbroad · 19/01/2011 18:14

cep dont worry, nothing is too embarassing to ask! (in an anonymous chat roomGrin)

Here is cervix checking 101:

trim nails, wash hands and put one leg up on a stool or chair if that is comfy for you.

Stick index finger up, do small sweeping circles.

If you find:

a) a smaller than expected bump that feels hard like your nose this is probably non fertile time (Cervix = low, hard, closed) the bump is like the tip of the iceburg (and upside down iceburgGrin) Your cervix spreads out like an upside down triangle behind this bump.

b) nothing, you could be in fertile time and cervix is too high for you to reach

c) squishy feeling mass, that feels soft like your lips, this is probably fertile time. Feels less like an upside down cone/triangle and more like a lumpy mass (cervix = high, soft, open)

I could never feel it "open" but now know that this was because scar tissue was covering it! (I have AS) I will let you know this month if I can feel it opened or closedGrin

Zam Nix scored a "low" on FF the month she got pregnant!

ZamMummyInGabs · 19/01/2011 18:19

I am wife Hmm

Yes, that's what I have to put as my occupation on immigration forms & it says so on my residence permit and everything. Apart from writing a chapter of a US psychology textbook (don't ask) I haven't had a paying job since August 2004!!

So I did what all good expats do, and settled down to breeding, hence TTC#3. (DS1 is 4.7 & DS2 2.8)

I'm also nearly done with a Masters in Education & 2/3 thru a BSc in Psychology with the OU. {shameless plug alert} And have retrained as a freelance editor & proofreader, for anyone who might need it - Mnetter discount :)

Chloe55 · 19/01/2011 18:23

Ooh we have a famous person the thread with her own book and everything Wink

cep · 19/01/2011 18:25

mummya that's a fantastic description thank you. i now have mental image of one finger up, other hand prodding lips and nose. Grin seriously that's better and easier to understand than anything i've read online.

(bows in awe to the oracle.)

fx that you can feel it. Grin

ZamMummyInGabs · 19/01/2011 18:28

Actually tis more like:
I am wife Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit
Grin

I got a "low" on TCOYF when DS2 was conceived too, so it's really not exact at all.

Thanks for the cervix info - the things you learn on here! (bumsex Fridays, bj tutorials, mooncups, cervix checking and of course EWCM to name but a few...)

Chloe55 · 19/01/2011 18:30

Bumsex Friday Shock - I must have missed that one.

I di have a friend who enjoyed her Brown Sundays though Grin

ZamMummyInGabs · 19/01/2011 18:38

Noooo! I'm so not famous, or even notorious.

US textbooks (I have now discovered) have the name of a big professor-type person on the cover, who writes outlines for each chapter, but the grunt-work of actually writing the thing is done by the likes of me, cheap freelancers without even a degree in the subject Shock
Dunno if the same applies to British textbooks tho.

Chloe55 · 19/01/2011 18:43

Really Zam? Well the limelight hogging buggers Shock

cep · 19/01/2011 19:31

ooh it does sound glamourous zam

i'm another with the Shock bumsex fridays. i definately missed that one. in fact i seem to have missed the bj tutorials and moon cups, (what are mooncups? because they're the size of??)

youremindmeofthebabe · 19/01/2011 19:31

Hello my lovelies. How are you all?

zam i am very envious of yours and mummya's expat life. What is the best and worst thing about living in Botswana?

Hey chloe, hows you? I think everyday is fine in peak time so long as dh doesn't have weak sperm(would need a diagnosis), assume he doesn't if you don't know, I reckon!

mummya I reckon yes to you having ov'd this month!

cep I find 2 glasses of wine+ affects my temp. That also coincides with my sleep being disrupted by the alcohol too though.

izz I am going for Friday FMU with a digi, as that's what ff reccomends. Will of course post my temps tomorrow though! Might start a thread to see if anyone got a bfp as late as this as i'm really not hopeful. Don't know why, but you know when you just know?

nix How are you? Must be 10 +5ish now? Grin

pretty that's such good news. Glad to hear it!

velvet how's you?

owl woop woop for the amazing scan! thats wicked.

dachs how are you? As chilled as I am? Grin

Has it sunk in yet, pink??

Waves to everyone else. Sorry for limited catchup.

youremindmeofthebabe · 19/01/2011 19:33

cep A mooncup is a soft silicone device whic collects your menstrual blood internally

Mamapower · 19/01/2011 19:36

Hi knitter Smile

Fabulous news owl Grin at it being an expensive bean!

Well done Velvet what's your secret hey?

Mummy I taught you well and I thought no one listened to my cervical examination master classes Grin ...good luck cep

cep · 19/01/2011 19:39

good grief yrmotb if that was limited your full catchup definately puts me to shame. Blush

ok yuck to the mooncup Confused (close as i could get to a "i'm gonna throw up" face) to sound naive why would you want/need a mooncup?
