Ok ladies, here's the new thread, let's hope it's a lucky one!

OP posts:
panpipe · 10/01/2011 16:09

Hi all - this is my first post so hope I'm in the right place. All these acronyms sound far too scientific for my poor brain!

DH and I got married in June and have been ttc for the first time since December. I'm already starting to think that I could be PG - I was due on over the weekend but no sign of anything yet, though this will be my first 'normal' period since coming off the pill so I'm not sure what my body is now doing with cycles etc.! Trying to hold off from rushing out to buy a test for another week just in case.

BTW DH has already convinced himself that I am PG as he thinks he's got Superman sperm lol!

KalokiMallow · 10/01/2011 16:39

Hey panpipe welcome in.

The acronyms we use are..

ERTD - evil red tide of doom, I believe we are the only ones to use this, and it's courtesy of cavemum because we decided AF/Aunt Flo was too twee.

It is occasionally FERTD - fucking evil red tide of doom. Grin

BFN/BFP - big fat negative/positive (pregnancy test)

SWI shagging with intent, because BD for "baby dancing" is awful

2WW 2 week wait, after ovulation.

I think that's it apart from the stats.

To put you on the list we need..
Cycle No.
UCL = usual cycle length
CD = cycle day

KalokiMallow · 10/01/2011 16:40

ps. if I've missed any, it'll be because I'm on my really strong painkillers today, and feel like I'm drunk and things are spinning a bit.

Bloody evil stuff, but at least I don't hurt. Grin

panpipe · 10/01/2011 17:05

Thanks KalokiMallow that makes a lot more sense! And boo to the evil painkillers, but glad they're doing their job :)

I'm not really counting or charting anything at the moment as it's quite new for us. We're just going to see how things go for a while and maybe get scientific in a few months' time!

KalokiMallow · 10/01/2011 17:10

I didn't start charting till last month tbh, my 12th cycle. Before that I didn't want to get too obsessed.

By now though I'm just tired of not knowing.

Oh, forgot to say, my GP has suggested sending me for further tests when all the homeless crap is over and done with. So possibly March/April I'll be looking at trying to figure out why we haven't conceived yet.

Ariesgirl · 10/01/2011 17:23

I thought of ERTD!

Hope you lot are ok. Still no joy here. Fingers crossed for the new year eh? Have just had three months off and am now back in the saddle. Bit scary. Hello to all new people I don't know - given the very lengthy absence, that may well be almost everyone! Hello Kaloki - how you doing?

KalokiMallow · 10/01/2011 17:28

Oh sorry Aries!! Of course, I have painkiller brain today Confused

I'm ok, struggling a bit with everything. My depression has been awful recently, as has my back. So not being too active about TTC. Hopefully we'll have somewhere to live by mid Feb.

How are you?

Ariesgirl · 10/01/2011 17:36

Sorry to hear that, love. January is always a massive pit of crap even without depression. Oh I'm alright...jogging along, you know. Utterly convinced I will never get up the duff! Feeling weirdly desensitised about it, like it doesn't matter because Nature never intended me to have kids anyway so there's no point trying. On the other hand, am on the 2WW so we'll see...

Sorry if that was the most depressing post ever!

CaveMum · 10/01/2011 18:02

Blimey, activity this afternoon!

Impers it's all very easy for me to spout such holier than thous sentiments, so please feel free to slap me with a wet kipper at any stage Wink

weimy definitely go for the loan - sod's law says as soon as you find something you'll be up-duffed!

Fingerscrossed good luck for the next few days!

panpipe welcome to the mad house, and good luck for a nice short stay (in the nicest way possible)!

Kaloki boo to the painkillers. Sorry to hear your back is playing up. January is not a good month - too little sunshine and everything feels grey.

Aries [throws arms around Aries]! How you been?! Glad to hear that you are out of you are back in the saddle and keeping everything crossed that things go well.

Well, the doctors appointment went well. she was very understanding and without any prompting said "we best get you checked out". She's referred me to the local hospital for blood tests - the sheet I have in front of me says I'm to be tested for 14 different things Shock!

I'm going to go tomorrow morning before work, as the Haematology department opens at 8am so if I arrive early I should be in and out wihout anyone at work knowing where I have been.

She's also referred me for an ultrasound but I have to wait for a call with an appointment for that.

Once the results from both are back I have to make another appointment to see her and discuss what needs to be done.

I feel relieved and worried! Relieved that something is FINALLY happening but worried about what they will find. Being ever the worrier I have convinced myself that I have some super-super rare condition that can't be treated!

The Dr has marked my form for the ultrasound with "PCOS?" so I guess that is the most likely outcome.

Right, positive thinking ladies! Either that or I'm off to the supermarket for a humungous tub of Ben n Jerry's Phish Food!

CaveMum · 10/01/2011 18:03

Well half of that post made NO sense whatsoever [forehead slap]

Imps7 · 10/01/2011 18:05

Oh CaveMum the very best of luck with your tests. To show solidarity and support for you, I too will head to the supermarket for a humungous tub of Ben & Jerry's...

Truffkin · 10/01/2011 18:38

Hello everyone, sorry I've been off for the weekend and sorry for the arrival for ERTD for some. Josie sounds like you are dealing with it well though and I'm liking your positive thinking. I may well need to borrow some in a couple of weeks time.

Raspberry all the wedding plans sound lovely and the timings sound perfect. I simply cannot resist joining in the picture sharing and as I said, I planned to have something simple and straight with no train just like I ended up with

Kaloki sorry you're not feeling good and that 2011 hasn't started well. Am really hoping you can sort out somewhere to live and then get your referral so you feel you are making a dent in things.

Cavey good news that your GP was so brisk about getting tests started and of course you know that the odds are it's not a rare and as yet, undiscovered terrible illness Grin but nevertheless, a tub of B&J is what I prescribe, regardless of the results!

Hi Impers and Panpipes and hope you are enjoying the thread. I'll be back hopefully at some point this week for a proper catch up, although I out all day tomorrow doing comms roadshows at our regional sites then I'm out planting trees all day on Thursday for my work volunteering scheme - just my thing ['not' emoticon] so the week has been compressed into 3 days - aargh!

I'm now 5DPO and will (I'm sure) be symptom spotting like a nutcase in a few days time. Just wait for the mekulling to commence!

ToriaPumpkinHead · 10/01/2011 20:39

Evening ladies. First day back at work today and I'm very glad I get Tuesdays off! Bleugh...

Truff You looked lovely in your wedding dress, and not to be totally stalkerish, but the rest of your pics were fab also Grin

Kaloki Sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish, January does suck monkeys!

Cavey Glad to hear your Dr was so forthcoming with getting you referred. I also prescribe B&J, I just ate half a pint in the bath Grin

Panpipe Menkulling is something we do best, but fingers crossed your instincts are right and you're already upduffed Smile

I'm off to watch the new series of Glee and throw the laptop out of a window for being obnoxious. Have a good night!

OP posts:
Truffkin · 10/01/2011 23:13

Awww thanks Toria Blush

LOL (actual) at 'suck monkeys' and wowzers, your's sounds like my kind of bath!

DH is out tomorrow at the football with his brother so I'm thinking about all the lovely things I might do. Am considering sampling some of my Christmas bath goodies then snuggling up in bed to read my kindle with some chocolate! Either that or rent a trashy girlie blu-ray that I'd enjoy more on my own. Hmm, choices!

Imps7 · 11/01/2011 07:57

Morning!

Can I just say that I had no idea that this TWW would be so hellish! Am feeling slightly nauseous this morning and think I have a coldsore coming (haven't had a coldsore in 13 months) - but still I have no way of knowing whether this is real or just mind games! How do us ladies not go insane? To be honest though I am feeling slightly less excited about the idea of having a baby after One Born Every Minute last night - that screaming lady (sorry, cannot remember her name) scared me to my very core...

Anyway, Truff your photos are wonderful - how happy does everyone look?!

Have a nice day all. Hope you're not waiting at the Haemo department for too long, CaveMum - hope all goes well.

TomboyWife · 11/01/2011 08:46

Morning all,

Just a quickie to say that ERTD arrived yesterday. About three days late, but when I've suspected anovulatory cycles it's normally been over a week late, so maybe I did ov after all.

I'm pleased that I'm getting to be mostly regular again.

Right, off to work, longer post later!

CaveMum · 11/01/2011 18:36

Evening ladies!

So, I had my blood taken this morning - two whole vials! Ouchy!

I popped my form into the X-Ray/Ultrasound department and they said they would send me a letter with a date for an appointment. However this afternoon they phoned me and said that they had had a cancellation for Thursday afternoon and would I like to come in then Shock

So, things are suddenly moving very quickly. It will be late next week at the earliest before I get my results back so I don't expect answers any time soon.

Hope everyone is having a good week so far Smile

raspberrytipple · 11/01/2011 18:43

Evening,

I am worn out, just been playing dance central! Only did 20 minutes and am quite tired. Much more fun than going to the gym but probably not as productive! I have a bit of a gut to shift before hols in April.

Sorry ERTD arrived Tomboy mine is well on its way. I POAS and was BFN so will just have to wait for it to turn up. Glad you are getting regular though!

Imps you will soon get into the hang of the 2ww. It doesn't matter how hard we tell ourselves we are not going to get swept away with the symptom spotting there aren't many of us that don't :)

Truff your wedding photos are gorgeous! That dress is awesome. I'm now so excited about wearing my dress I just want to go and sit in the shop with it :)

Hope everything went ok this morning Cavey and like you say at least something is happening now and whatever the outcome there will be a way around it.

Hello aries hope you are feeling a little bit better today. You will get pregnant one day, it will happen and you will look back on these days and remember the time when you got more than an hours sleep a night and used to leave the house without clothes on that smell of baybee poop and pukies! Chin up lovey, we will all get there one day xx

Kaloki sorry you are feeling down too. Painkillers/bad back and depression is a horrible mix, hope you are getting lots of the right support from the right people xx

Hello panpipe welcome and as I always say, hope you have a short stay! Worked for slowshow!!!

Fingerscrossed I am now deliriously excited. Going dress shopping (not that I want any other dress now) with two friends from work who are both brides to be in the next 18 months. Then going for lunch with our husbands to be so should be mega fun :) Not sure what I can offer about 'what goes up doesn't come back down'. I've not had that problem before although (MEGA TMI HERE) I went to put my legs up in the air the other week to keep them up there, coughed and squirted it all over the place, hit the bottom of the bed! DP was in stitches.

Josie - good to hear someone else fell for a first dress although mine was the third or fourth I tried and I did try lots of others on too. I just cant wait to see it again :) I am also now sticking to my 6.00 p.m. buffet thanks to approval from you guys! Really helpful, thank you.

wiemy good idea with the loan, might be best not to buy if you dont think you will have time. Owning horses must be like burning money if you dont get out on them much. Have fun SWI!

Toria your dress is awesome and I love the bouquet! Something different, I may have to consider something like that although Im swaying towards roses the same colour as the top of your dress. Lovely.

Right Im off, DP has made tea!!! miracles will never cease! xx

Karstan · 11/01/2011 19:34

All done at the hospital, was nothing major, and it turned out it wasn't just a discussion they wanted to do the treatment there and then (lucky I took my mum's advice to never visit the doctor without a shower and clean pants Grin). So been prodded, poked and had the bad bits frozen away and been warned that I shall once again been oozing vast quantities of liquid (sorry for the tmi)

On the TTCing front a bit of a mixed bag, I'm fine to keep trying for now as if I got pregnant soon, then a pregnancy isn't a lot longer than my next checkup if they did find anything that needed treatment. But obviously the longer it takes to get pregnant the bigger the gap between when they'd normally want to see me again and the end of any theoretical pregnancy. So I think we'll keep on trying for the next couple of months and then have a break until July when my next checkup is. I really feel for kids who have a birthday round Christmas as it just seems a bit rubbish so this fits in nicely with that :-)

TomboyWife · 11/01/2011 20:02

Karstan sorry you got poked and prodded and your dignity violated, but it sounds like they've got your situation basically under control and there's not too much to worry about? Or am I reading that wrong? Either way, hugs and commiserations as that sounded not very nice at all. Sad

Cave yeah, it's a lot of your vital essence they make off with. And I need to ask my GP to refer me for it again as the first lot were done on a cycle I know was non-functional. Great... Confused

Imps welcome to the mad lady club. It gets easier -- or at least it did for me as the months went by and I got used to the 2ww (and got used to not conceiving and started assuming I'd continue in that vein).

Truffkin · 11/01/2011 21:48

Tomboy sorry about ERTD, the bugger. Have this virtual G&T to help cheer you up.

Cavey wow, it sounds like things really are moving quickly! Glad you got that cancellation, the waiting must be the most frustrating part. Good luck for the scan.

Raspberry that story of projectile coughing made me laugh out loud. I can just imagine DH's reaction if I did something like that, he already thinks I'm crazy Wink

Karstan sorry you got messed about with but glad things have got sorted without a wait. Sounds like a good plan for the TTC timing (as someone with a birthday 1 week after Christmas, I think you have the right idea!), here's hoping you won't need a break. Wishing a BFP your way soon.

Thanks everyone for such lovely comments about our wedding photos. It seems like such a long time ago now but I must admit to the very occasional peek at the album, which is lovely. It really was a fabulous and happy day, I couldn't stop grinning. Raspberry it's lovely to hear how excited you are, your day will be perfect!

I've had a lovely chilled evening whilst DH is out at the football. His team lost so he'll be grumpy when he comes in Hmm and as he's with his brother I should imagine they will have had a few drinks! I think my best bet is to be in bed by the time he comes home so I can just let him get on with his moaning whilst watching the highlights and pointing out all the things that annoyed him about the game Grin

panpipe · 11/01/2011 23:45

Lol Raspberry that story almost made me fall off my chair!

Also loving all the wedding chat going on. I can't believe I've been married for 6 months already - it's flown by and I'm still excited about it! Finally got our album back the week after Christmas so have been taking that to show lots of people :) Hope you all enjoy your dress shopping!

Fingerscrossed1 · 12/01/2011 10:30

raspberry that was hilarious!

cavemum glad things are happening for you.

Well, I really think I popped out an egg yesterday and the intention was to do the deed as we haven't done it since sunday but DH was tired and couldn't be persuaded. I've read about this problem on MN before, I tried to explain that there is only a small window of opportunity and we should go for it.

At the same time though, had it not been for TTC, I would not really have been in the mood either...I felt tired and a bit disgusting yesterday. So then I started to feel guilty that I was really only instigating sex because of the TTC. Has anyone else experienced this?

I just don't want DTD to become about getting pregnant but when you're determined to get upduffed it's hard.

JosieSmith1 · 12/01/2011 11:00

Morning everyone

ERTD turned out to be more than 2 days. It's been a strange one this one, won't got into too much detail but it's not the normal colour for me Blush, sorry if TMI

Anyway, all over now, bring on the SWI! Grin

raspberrytipple · 12/01/2011 21:54

wow, quiet in here! where are we all tonight or is it just me who has no life week and is stuck drinking bud watching indiana jones! Grin
