Hi Flick yes the really sore ones around the jaw line / chin (especially the ones just under the jaw bone) are hormonal. They are usually caused by a surge of oestrogen ... Sounds quite promising to me! Smile

JosieSmith1 · 25/08/2010 12:33

Garden I also know someone who has 3 kids under 3! She owns the yard I keep my horse on so the staff tend to keep the older one occupied with pony rides while the younger ones stay in the house with their grandparents, who are run ragged most of the time!

The oldest rides a pony called Muffin and apparently when she's in nursery she keeps telling everyone she's going home to brush her muffin! Grin Grin

gardenpixie · 25/08/2010 13:00

Josie PMSL at 'going home to brush my muffin' - that is the kind of genius line only a little person could come up with!

Off to try to make myself lunch while laughing! Grin

kkas · 25/08/2010 13:09

loving the comment about "brushing my muffin"

once, my cat was giving my MIL a good sniff and DH's nan commented whether the cat "could smell her pussy" (referring to MIL's own cat!). it was around xmas and DH and is bro were fussing around under the tree trying to get the lights to work. i thought they were going to die laughing. poor nan couldn't understand what was so funny!

felicityFlick · 25/08/2010 13:23

Grin Grin at brushing my muffin and smelling kkas's dh's nans pussy! You funny ladies have cheered me up!

Thanks garden you really are the skin care guru :) xx

CaveMum · 25/08/2010 13:24

Kids and elderly relatives - you gotta love them!

I thought my spots were down to hormones (not that I can tell anyone!) but mine are focused on my cheeks, with some on my jaw line and one or two appearing on my forehead.
I've also got more spots than usual on my neck and chest.

I'm generally an oily/spotty person so had learned to live with it until the current outbreak which has coincided with my coming off the Pill.

gardenpixie · 25/08/2010 13:31

Just got a great skin care tip from one of the science boffins at my skincare clients' offices: for the hormonal, sore spots, try rubbing an ice cube on them before you go to bed. You need to do it for five mins or so to properly cool the skin down then, while you're asleep, the blood flow increases to the cold bits which helps the natural repair cycle that happens around 2am.

These science folk are clever!

HRHCavey apparently increased sebum levels over the neck and chest are definitely hormone related too. Again, probably the oestrogen sorting itself out.

Oh kkas your nan's pussy comment! ahhhhhhhhhh! almost spat my tea out over the laptop!

felicityFlick · 25/08/2010 13:39

Thanks garden I'll try it tonight :) you are wonderful to me. Am off to watch some rubbish telly . Night, night all- have a lovely rest of your Wednesdays and when I'm back in the morning it will only be two days until the weekend. Now that's something to smile about :) xx

JosieSmith1 · 25/08/2010 14:31

Ha ha, gotta love double entendres or however you spell it! Grin

I'm in a right foul mood again now! One of the people I work for has been complaining about me behind my back because I didn't ring her about someone this morning, even though I did ring her, but the phone number she has on the board is wrong so it's not my fault I couldn't get through to her! And now I have to take my doggy into the vets for blood tests as she has cushings disease and the symptoms have come back. [fed up emoticon]

Truffkin · 25/08/2010 14:46

Hi frolickers and happy Wednesday to you all, half way to the lovely bank holiday weekend!

Great news Cavey - excited for you!
Flic can't wait to hear your result on Friday
Josie you sound much more upbeat, I totally get the thing with other people's kids scaring you off a bit. My nephew and neice are so high maintenance it sometimes makes me wobble a bit!
Garden you sound massively chirpy, so pleased for you. While we're on the science stuff, any advice for dry skin? I am allergic to lots of stuff as I have eczema that reacts badly but the dryness needs real pampering and so many moisturisers need reapplying to my skin several times aday (which is a right pain in the backside)

So still no ERTD for me and am wondering how long I should leave it before asking my GP or the family planning clinic for advice. Am thinking wait until next month and see if anything happens and if not, make a call then.

Am absolutely LOLing at the cat and pony comments. I was at my Mom's recently and told my brother he was pissing me off when we were messing about, without thinking of my nephew being in the room. He said 'did Daddy wee on you?' which I thought was funny but in a gross way.

Hello to everyone else, any nice plans for the long weekend?

womanlytales · 25/08/2010 14:51

Thank you flick for adding me to the list at the right place. [Sighs dramatically at the upward climb ahead!!!]
garden Yes I started my clomid today with the V+B complex + my standard folic acid tabbie and my thyroid stuff. SO far so good.
kkas LOL at the gran comment
cavey glad your appt went well and you feel better. Hope the hormones are in due course sorting themselves out :) Really glad you're now ttc...how you spent all those months not ttc but tracking all that we track is just amazing to me. As you said you'd be the most researched, knowledgeable person when you started to ttc and that is now true :) Best of luck and hope cycle 1 is your lucky one.

gardenpixie · 25/08/2010 14:58

Hi truffkin do you know which ingredients set off a reaction for your skin? The product that springs to mind is the Elizabeth Arden 8 hr moisturing cream which releases moisturisers over an 8 hour period (so you don't need to reapply) but it has a lot of VitC in it so if that sets your allergies off, then that might not be ideal.

My science boffin mates say the trick with dry skin is not to overmoisturise as that makes the skin produce less sebum which exacerbates the problem. So something the EA8hr cream is perfect. If your skin doesn't like vitC, you could try Lancome's royal creme www.lancome.co.uk/_en/_gb/catalog/subcategory.aspx?CategoryCode=AXESkincare^F1_Moisturizers^F2_Moi_DrySkin&

And apparently using honey as a face mask is meant to be amazing on dry skin - although I don't know the science behind that!

Hope it helps Smile

Josie I hope your doggy is OK?

gardenpixie · 25/08/2010 15:02

womanly sorry, think we x-posted. Hope your clomid goes well. I am now on day 3 of it and have had no bad side effects at all Smile

Truffkin · 25/08/2010 16:01

Thanks Garden I know I'm allergic to lanolin (which is used even in a lot of modern moisturisers)and hadn't heard about using honey as a mask so might look into that!

LankyLegs · 25/08/2010 16:05

Hi everyone!

Ooh skincare chat! Garden that ice tip is genius I tell you ? I have 2 huge zits on my chin at the moment and my chin since coming off the pill looks awful ? all marked and spotty die to constant spots. You would never guess I am 30 years old! More like 13 with all the zits!

Cavey sounds like you had a good session at the doctors ? that?s exactly what you need some reassurance. And congratulations on formally TTC! How exciting! Can?t believe your boss?s comment though ? cheeky! If I was a bloke I would not dare mention anything like that to a woman!!

womanly and Garden I hope the clomid works for you both and it proves to be the wonder drug it is! Lest hope those side effects stay away as well.

Flick test date is approaching ? how are you feeling? OMG ? am hoping it is a BFP! Yep ?am sooo annoyed about CBFM beign stuck at the post office ? technically wont get to use it this cycle. My client at the moment is an airport so impossible to get anything delivered to work. Its so annoying!

Josie hope your wee doggy is ok ? bless. Very funny about ?brushing my muffin?!!

Steg keeping fingers crossed for you ? really hope it?s a BFP ? snother Friday tester then? Keeping an eye on you!

Welcome to Trying !

Cherry I know what you mean about Fertility Friend ? I fell out with it on my cycle just gone too ? really started to mess my OV date around. It was bloody annoying. Just keep shagging on through and hope for best chica ? that?s all we can do! Am trying to keep spirits up about being on cycle 11 ? but it is a bit depressing. Will try and keep positive however!

Highheels well done on the caffeine detox ? I am still having 1 coffee a day ? but will try and cut that out soon! Its hard though! God ? it sounds like you are trying to perform a mircarle with the big 4-0 birthday ? hope that you manage to rally everyone around. I?m sure they will make time for such a special occasion no?

Dessie sorry to hear about your old boss ? must be very sad.

Bella you have to elaborate more on friction burns!! How did he get them?! Keep cracking on with shagging! I am trying to do the same ? but early days yet!! Don?t want to exhaust him indoors too soon! My new project is until June ? but whether I stay here that long is another thing! I am a freelance consultant so pick and choose clients ? but its generally good to have the client on the CV for a while and see a project through. I was hoping to be pregnant by now ?but no such luck so will have to work on through.  Was hoping to be a lady of leisure by now (if at least only temporarily!)

Where is Crazy today then?!

Hello to truffkin and anyone else I have missed!

No news from me ? been in meetings since 8.30 this morning ? grrr!

Am trying to rustle up the energy for the gym this evening ?can you help ladies? Sooo can not be bothered and knackered from the day! I did go yesterday and will try and go tomorrow tooo? but maybe I should go today? I have such crappy internal debates like this! Does anyone else do the same?

No other news from me still early days in the cycle and waiting for prime SWI-ing time!! I can not wait for the banky weekend! 3 days of no bloody work! Woohhoooo.

Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep shagging?!

stegasaurus · 25/08/2010 16:45

I went to the shop today after work and they had sold out of pregnancy tests. Maybe proof that the whole world is pregnant at the moment!?! At least that means one less day to torment myself about testing and the result. I didn't bother going to another shop because I was late out of work and it was pouring with rain and I was too tired.
Going camping is not going to be relaxing as I am going with the guides so looking after other people's children for 24hrs a day, probably in the pouring rain, but nevermind, at least I will be too busy to be upset if it is negative. Thanks for all the support and crossed fingers. I almost don't want to do the test, because after 16 cycles I'm not sure I can face the disappointment.

JosieSmith1 · 25/08/2010 16:49

Thanks everyone, she will be fine I'm sure, just needs her medication checked but the test is horrible for her - blood test followed by a catheter in her leg to inject some drugs, then another blood test an hour later. She comes back covered in bruises and scabs, but I'll be in to give her hugs when she gets home. She's a little fighter and won't let it get her down. The worst part for her is that she becomes incontinent and genuinely seems embarrassed by it! Sorry TMI! Blush

Lanky I can't motivate you to go to the gym I'm afraid, currently trying to motivate myself to go for a ride tonight!

LankyLegs · 25/08/2010 16:59

Oh Steg am thinking of you. Hope you find a test at some point. I don't envy the camping with the guides - but you sound like a saint for doing it.

Blush 16 months trying? I feel bad for complaining about my 11 months. Don't what to say but good luck - hope you get that BFP. Keep us posted xxx

Thanks Josie am still umming and ahhing myself... still can not decide!!!

gardenpixie · 25/08/2010 17:20

Hi Truffkin so my sciencey mates have been briefed on finding lanolin free moisturisers and have come up with this:

www.jason-natural.com/products/pure_and_natural.php

They are particularly keen on the aloe vera one as it soothes as well as moisturises
Smile

Lanky I am not much help with the old motivation today I'm afraid; I went running this morning and now I'm shattered!

Steg good luck finding a test - what an @rse the shop had sold out! Fingers crossed for an enormous BFP for you at the weekend

Crazy have you gone AWOL? Did the butterflies finally carry you off to their crazybutterfly den? Hope you're OK and having a good Wednesday xx

Big waves to everyone else! Am off for a drink or four three two with DH so will try not to post-under-the-influence later xx

crazydayz · 25/08/2010 17:36

Steg What a crap shop - hope you find a suitably stocked one soon.

Flic Good luck with testing on Fri, you have so much more will power than me, I'd have already pee'd on it!

Josie Hope your poor doggy is ok and that whoever takes the blood finds a vein quickly and painlessly!

Cavey Great news.

To everyone else and anyone new - Hi and I hope you are all ok despite the dismal weather.

I have also given up caffeine as read somewhere it was a good thing to do if TTC and take the Sanatogen Mum to be vitamins which are 3 for 2 in Boots and Tesco at the moment.

4 days post ovulation here and willing the days away! I go on holiday on Tues so if ERTD doesn't appear during hols I doubt I'll be able to find a test!

crazybutterflylady · 25/08/2010 18:23

Hi all, sorry I'm so late checking in

Nothing quite as exciting as being carried off to a butterfly den (although MrCrazy would tell you that's what our house is, since we have them all over the place! Blush )... Slept in this morning till the grand old time of 8.30! We needed to leave the house at 10.00 so it was a bit of a mad rush and have only just got back home after being drenched on the way back from the crapola M&S sale town. I went in to meet a friend who's leaving work :( will miss her loads, she's like my little sister and we've worked together for 7 years!

I am tres spotty also today; I feel accepted here :)

garden I bought that Jason VitC thing yesterday at the hippy organic shop near us. I am very excited about using it! The cats are good thanks, a bit p1ssed off about the rain today but they'll live :)

truffkin the Jason stuff smells divine so I am seconding garden's motion.

Lanky hope you made it to the gym, I always dread it but I love it when I get there. Just make the effort and the endorphins will reward you! (she says sitting on her ar$e wondering whether to open the revels or the maltesers).

cavey!! woooohoooo, formally on the bus! Everything crossed for you my love. And good news on there being an actual nice, sympathetic GP out there! One and counting...!

steg that's rubbish about the tests Shock what a useless shop. Don't they know this is an EMERGENCY?!!!

Hope the Clomid brings you both tons of luck womanly and garden, we are all rooting for you.

highheels I think decaf coffee is fine - apparently the "goodness" is taken out of the bean when they strip the caffeine, but it tastes the same to me. I am not sure many people drink coffee for its goodness (who knew it had any!?) so I say go for it. I have switched to one caffeineated cup a day and the rest (2 max) is decaf. I have been drinking tons of herbal teas but now am scared because they say do not drink when pg. But if/when I was, I wouldn't know for a few weeks so surely it'd be an overreaction to stop drinking them - what do you guys think?!! I am hoping so! :P

I am still not sure if I have OV'd, I'll SWI tonight just in case ;)

Have a lovely evening. Am off to scare myself by watching Dexter! Keeeeeeeep shagging Wink
xx

Toriajayne · 25/08/2010 19:25

Hello ladies, have been trying to keep up but am so tired atm that I am slipping. Sorry MissFlick

I finally caved to the voices in my head and POAS due to all my imaginary symptoms and guess what? BFN. Obviously. Cos it's Too. Early. To. Test. Still hope though as ERTD isn't officially due for another few days, will now wait until Monday and see how things go as now the minions in my brain appear to be sated by the fact that I was right all along. (Btw, Trying some of us are definitely crazy Wink welcome to the madhouse)

Garden thanks for the skincare tip, I am also spotty so will be rubbing my face with ice before bed to try and rid myself of all the yucky red bumps that have sprung up as if from nowhere. Wish I could say this was unusual for me but I'd be lying.

Truffkin I can second honey, my mum uses Manuka Honey on her eczema patients and swears by it.

Josie Glad you're feeling a bit more upbeat, also wetting myself at the "Brushing my muffin" comment :) Hope your dog's alright. As for work person, just visualise stabbing them in the eye with something, always works for me! (not that I'm a psycho or anything, I've just worked with a few)

Stegasaurus I do not envy you Guide Camping, we've got a Scout one on this weekend which I'm not going to as I've got to work (not sure who gets the better deal here), glad though, went back to Cubs last night and forgot how loud and tiring such small people can be! Fingers crossed for your testing.

Cave Glad you got a good doctor and that you're now TTC :)

Think that's everything, for anyone I've missed I'm sorry and , I'm off to put my head in a bucket, my feet in the air and force myself to drink large quantities of water to wash down the heartburn medicine. Provided I've got any left.

CaveMum · 25/08/2010 19:38

Lanky did you make it to the gym in the end?

Josie hope you didn't get too wet on your ride.

I had my weekly dance lesson tonight so that's my exercise for the week day. Of course I ruined it all by having cheese and beans on toast for my dinner! Sometimes you just need comfort food!

I'm now chilling on the sofa with a cup of tea, watching Big Bang Theory on E4+1 and looking forward to Gok later on. Have a good evening all.

LankyLegs · 25/08/2010 20:11

Hey gals!

Yes I made it to the gym!!! (and just had a piece of choccy whilst DH is watching the football.. who calls their team Young Boys?! WRONG!)

Crazy sounds like you are having a nice week off! It is said when someone you really get on with leaves work -never quite the same.

Crazydayz its prob good you are away whilst you have to POAS - resist the temptation!

Toria sorry about BFN BUT it is TOOOO early! Don't give up yet!!

Garden hope you enjoy the drinkies - god it feels like the middle of winter with all this rain and gloom. Rubbish British Summer!

Cave well done on your dance lesson! Hope you are enjoying Gok - bloody footie on here! Oh well - am going to go and surf the the AIBU thread and Shock myself with some of the posts that people put up!!!

Hermya321 · 25/08/2010 20:16

Don't mind me, just marking my place to lurk for Flick .

Hope you're all well.
