DessieLou · 24/08/2010 21:17

Hello my lovelies!
HRHCavey thanks for the info on caffiene, it's not something I've considered before. I'm also interested in family history. A distant relative of mine was a bit of a rogue...his young wife drowned herself and her 3 kids at the bottom of the garden, 3 months later he was married to her sister!!!

Welcome to trying! It's exciting, int it?!
Womanly well done on your weight loss. My OH has just appeared over my shoulder with yet another tub of ben and jerry's...FATTY FEEDER!!!!
Garden is there any of that crumble left?! And well done to your DP for cutting down the fags...he's putting me to shame.
Thanks for the link mumnerves worth a try eh?!
Not much to report here. Spent the afternoon with my neice and nephew...just to top up my broodyness! My old boss died on Sunday so been to see her husband and going to see her mums tomorrow. Live in a small place so it's hit everyone pretty hard, she was landlady of our local. Just goes to show, you never know whats in your future so make the post of every day!
Hello to everyone I've not mentioned. ERTD has disappeared thankfully, hope the rest of you are feeling better too.

DessieLou · 24/08/2010 21:21

That should be make the most of everyday! Doh!
Forgot to say, family tree is also a good source of baby names. We had a Pheobus, Wentworth, Smith.... anyone else got some interesting family names?

CaveMum · 24/08/2010 21:48

Dessie sorry to hear about your old boss.
Your right about the interesting things you can turn up in family history!

We haven't uncovered many unusual names (did find a Maron (lady) on my Scottish side) but we have found some mutually occurring names that we like that could be put to use with our offspring.

We have already decided that we are going to use DH's grandfather's surname as a middle name for our children. His grandfather was a Wireless Operator in a Lancaster Bomber during WWII and was shot down and killed in 1944, when DH's father was just 2. Dh's grandmother remarried and they changed FiL's surname, so the name was lost. We thought it would be a nice gesture to reintroduce it in remembrance of his grandfather who was only 26 when he died.

highheelsandequations · 24/08/2010 21:52

womanly so glad you're feeling so positive and congratulations on the weight loss. I believe I wasn't ovulating regularly, if at all, before the clomid but have heard that it can sometimes kickstart your hormones and cause you to ovulate after you've finished taking it so I'm taking the B6 now cos I want to give my body all the help it can get this month.

Sorry you've had a crap weekend Josie, this ttc lark is difficult enough without other life things getting to you. Big hugs and a virtual cocktail for you (the virtual ones can be enjoyed guilt free!)

Florin sounds like you're having a fab time, I'm Envy of the childish fun and wine!!

garden glad you're feeling so fantastic, here's hoping the B6 gives me some energy and happiness as well as helping the hormomes. :)

crazy I love my baths, especially with a good book, and I've managed not to drop a book in the bath for ages now. Thanks for the recommendations for essential oils, think I might have to treat myself. The only problem with trying to relax in the bath for me just now is that the bath is in the middle of a room that is half torn down, so looking around doesn't help the stress levels, I'm getting quite good at ignorimg the building chaos though :o

Hi flo looking forward to hearing about your scan.

Flick I tried to watch mistresses but missed a couple and got all confused (I'm easily confused)

Lanky glad you've enjoyed the birthday celebrations and it sounds like things are going well just now. I know what you mean about the whole disillusioned thing though. Still we shall try to be positive and upbeat for the whole cycle (should we come up with a team chant) and remember to just keeeeeep shagging.

Tomboy I only have 1-2 cups of coffee a day, hardly ever drink tea and don't touch fizzy stuff so didn't change my habits as I figured I wasn't having much caffeine. However as of Monday I quit caffeine completely (except for in green and blacks chocolate) because I'm trying to do everything I can this cycle. Read somewhere that it can make conceiving more difficult. Think I read somewhere else that small amounts of caffeine have no effect on conception. Who knows? Just read queencavey's post though, she sounds much more informed than me!

dessie sorry to hear about your old boss. Glad FERTD has departed and you're feeling a little better.

Hi to everyone else, sorry if I've not mentioned you, need to get off the computer!

As for me, I am exhausted so going to tuck myself up in bed with a good book once I've finished this post. Have now had 2 days with no caffeine at all, not doing too badly, but can anyone tell me if decaf coffee is safe? Don't know if I can bear to completely give up the wine just yet, maybe after this week, I can give up one thing per week then :o I've also booked my first few sessions with the acupuncturist, she seems to think that it may help me. I'll see what she says when I go for the first appointment (9th September) but for now just feeling better by doing something other than waiting, fretting and trying to spot signs! (This ttc is starting to cost me a fortune though).

Finally got DP to tell me that he'd quite like to go out for dinner with me and hi family for his birthday, cue frantic emailing of his family members to see if they can come. He said "it's probably too late to organise anything with a big group of people now isn't it?", err, yes, that's why I've been asking what you want to do for the last 3 months!!!

DessieLou · 24/08/2010 21:57

That is a really nice gesture cavey. We've found our boys name from my family tree and the boys middle name will be my nan's maiden name. Girls middle name will be Elizabeth as it's my middle name and goes way back in my family tree. I think it's so nice to carry these things on and gives more meaning to baby's name. Not looked into OH's history yet but will do soon. It fascinates me!

cherrycobbler · 24/08/2010 23:00

aw zips, a very belated re your post. Your DH sounds completely lovely, and I echo what all the other Frolickers said. You both clearly love each other so much and sound like you will find a way through this painful patch and come out a stronger couple. I really hope the new lifestyle delivers not only squealing BabyZippy but also balance in your lives too. Hope that doesn't sound patronising or suggest you don't have balance now - not meant to be! xxx

Lanky weekend of celebrations sounds great! Hope the power tools were appreciated. ARGH v vexing re fertility monitor being so near but so far!! Fingers crossed re house purchase. I know what you mean about the feeling crap TTC blues - hope things pick up for you and Devon for weekend sounds lovely.

DessieLou sorry to hear about your boss. Must be v hard to see the ones she's left behind. Agree about making the most of every day - my dad's not well and it was a complete shock to us - the downside is that have been spending and eating like there's no tomorrow for the past year or so!! Yay for end of ERTD, get those SWI practice sessions in there...

highheels I think Zita says no decaf coffee because of the process but actually the studies about caffeine are just about caffeine and not coffee etc. Does that even make any sense? Good for you on no caffeine! I am going to go for acupuncture too so let me know how you go. Tante I loved the relexology as its super relaxing but I never feel it does anything particular for me, so may try acupuncture although the woman was well scary and

garden brill re B6 faux-valium, and hope clomid is going ok for you.

flick keep strong on the POAS! I always Pee Too Early and regret it :) Am v hopeful for you.

aries lovely to hear from you and sorry you're going through a tough bit. Are you about cycle 7 too - I am - and finding it particularly doom-laden at the moment. Saw private GP for random work medical, told her we had been trying for about 9 months (white lie) and she said, gosh that's really nothing (I think she was being genuine). Hopefully it is just a matter of time - hang in there.

womanly your weight loss stuff is inspirational, keep at it.

flo at the risk of sounding like an obsessed fan, so miss you on this board!! Look fwd to hearing about your scan.

Kaloki wedding countdown!! So exciting :)

Hello to everyone else - esp the newbies I've not met yet truffkin, tryingasofthen

Odd goings on in the Cherry household - after behaving like a toddler re: early ov, temps dropped, then spiked, then dropped. Currently below cover line. One off patch of EWCM then nothing. Used first ever OPK and it said I was getting ready to lay an egg. Then temps dipped. Fertility Friend is completely confounded by my body's cunning plan to pretend like its ovulating; then not; then pretend again; then not. I'm not impressed by this as no SWI prospect for the next few days (poor DH working mad busy). I would also quite like to be with child (or children) now, please, am quite done with the temping and SWI and fear of it never happening, and having the FCBERTD blues, and the bump envy etc.

Ok, enough negativity, this was supposed to be my positive month! Night night frolickers x

Morning all,

You'll be glad to hear that I am not quite so bored or demanding this morning so no rude awakenings from me today!

Just a quicky from me as have a few bits to do before I have my lunch.

I can't believe Mistresses is only 4 episodes long Truffkin!! What a let down- I thought I had to look forward to for at least a good six weeks. I'll watch the last one on Friday then, after it's on I-player.

Thanks bella, lanky cherry and flo for your luck. Have not as yet POAS and as I refuse to do it anytime of the day other than first thing, I think I might make it to Friday. Only one more get up to go and I don't have any tests in the house. Will just have to be careful not to pass the shops on my way home.

Talking of shops, I am thinking of getting some FitFlops for work. I always thought they were a bit too casual for work but my friend has a pair of black ones with sparkles on the front and they look smart enough to get away with for work. Mr. F hates them and says they look like 'special shoes' but I think I'd quite like some. Does anyone have any? Do they actually work?

How confusing about FF cherry??? Has it actually pin pointed an ovulation day? ad if so has this changed after you ended the EWCM and the low temps? Have you been waking in the night or doing anything that could affect your temps? I would be tempted to go with the OPK but then I have not used them before so not sure? I have been temping but after using my CBFM, am not sure how reliable the temping was.

You're so sweet to get Mr. L's name engraved on his present lanky was it hos actual name or his MN nickname Wink I'm GUTTED about your CBFM being so near yet so far. i am so excited for you to get it. Does your post office not do that service where you can phone the sorting office and get it delivered to another address? If so, could it come to your work?

Good on you higheels with no caffine! Especially being back at work. Am afraid am not much use on caffine, I just drink herbal teas but do have my daily can of diet coke on my way home from work. Am really excited for your accupuncture :)

Ahh bella you are lovely. IF I ever get a BFP I would certainly be staying around here for a good while and would definitely keep my feet in both doors so you wont be rid of me that easily Wink Defintely give mistresses ago- still jealous of your ipad. have been hinting to Mr. F so I hope one might turn up at Christmas (in my dreams!)

cave Lovely idea on the names. You are shaming me into finding out a few of the basics at least.

dessie I'm so sorry to hear about your old boss. I hope you're ok. I am sure that her husband and mum will be taking comfort in your visits, Make sure you look after yourself too xxxx On another note- how interesting about your family history!

Right off for lunch now so see you all later.

tryingasofthen · 25/08/2010 06:39

thanks for the welcomes everyone!
if mad house is a good description i think i have found my forum home OH always telling me i should be in one now i can tell him i am Grin

dessie yes stupidly excited! can not wait!

if there is a place to ask its probably here, my DR said it will only take me about 30 days for my cycle to return to normal, but on here people have been off the pill months and not got a proper cycle back, is this because of a difference in contraceptives or is it my dr telling me the best possible outcome not a normal outcome?

morning everyone (for a few hours time when im busy and you lot are just surfacing Wink)

stegasaurus · 25/08/2010 06:52

So, it's day 33 and no ERTD. I'm trying not to be too hopeful, as last month was the first time in a long time that ERTD happened without me taking drugs to make it happen and that might have just been a one-off where my body did what it is supposed to for a change.
The doctor said to test after 5 weeks from first day of cycle if no ERTD. That will be Saturday, but I'm away camping on Saturday so might POAS on Friday, but will have to buy the test today or tomorrow and resist the temptation to use it until Friday.
Have felt exhausted and slightly sick and crampy all the time this week and needing to wee more often than usual. Is this the precursor to ERTD or because I am pregnant or because I am coming down with something or because I have spent too much time at work recently??

CaveMum · 25/08/2010 07:16

Morning all.

HRHCavey reporting in MissFlick, so you can tick me off the register Wink

steg your symptoms sound very hopeful. Well done you for holding off on the testing this far. Keeping everything crossed that you get a good result Fri/Sat!

Trying I think it is different for everyone, and probably partially dependent on the type of pill/implant you've been on and for how long. Personally, as I said on your other thread, I've been off the Pill (Binovum) since May and have not really had a "proper" period, just a few days of light spotting here and there. However don't assume I am the norm, as others seem to have got their cycles back almost straight away.

Wish me luck for my Drs appointment, it's at 9.15. I will try to get on here later this morning and let you know what is said.

Happy Wednesday everyone - the working week is halfway through!

tryingasofthen · 25/08/2010 07:28

thanks cavemum, was just worried that id got excited/got OH excited prematurely, and because id be TTC for the first time that i was being stupid or naive Blush

good luck and happy Wednesday!

felicityFlick · 25/08/2010 08:19

Right so that's HRHcavey, steg and trying all present today. I am one happy teacher Wink Much better time keeping than yesterday ladies!

Oh good luck cave Don't let them fob you off. Looking forward to hearing how you get on. My best friend in RL is going to the doctors today as she has not had her ERTD for 7 weeks. She came off her pill in May and had two fairly regular cycles and now they have gone haywire. She has been POASing and POASing with BFNs and has now decided to go and see what the doctors say too.

trying see above for my friend's situation. I had my first period six weeks after stopping my pill, (yasmin), in November but then had to wait 57 days for my next one that came in February. After Feb the next three were regular (32 or 33 days) but then I had a bit of a blip in June with a very long cycle again. However, I think my two very long cycles coincided with Flying from the UK to HK over Christmas and then from HK to the UK at the start of the summer as I know that time zone changes can cause havoc with your cycles. I think the short (and very rubbish answer) is that it is different for everyone and some people's cycles return to normal immediately and some people's can take up to six months.

steg well done for being so patient for waiting to POAS! I think you should do it on Friday morning and then if it does happen to be a BFN (which It doesn't sound like it will be :) ) then you will have camping to cheer yourself up with. I will be POAS on Friday morning too, although I am now thinking I would rather not know if t is going to be a BFN so I can at least live in hope that it might be a BFP. Stupid weird, TTC logic!

JosieSmith1 · 25/08/2010 08:30

Morning everyone.

I think being back on here after the weekend has done the trick - I am much perkier today! Plus have definitely finished ERTD so the hormones should be giving me a break now Grin.

DH is working late tonight so no SWI, but there's plenty other times for that, although if his work colleagues don't stop texting him at 7.30am asking what shift they're on tomorrow I might be too busy kicking butt to SWI! Grin

Haven't caught up with everyone yet but will go back now, see you soon

tryingasofthen · 25/08/2010 08:45

erm miss flick i was here before them lot yesterday as well i think i need to be commended on my time keeping for everyday Grin

thanks guess i will have to stop tying my self in circles and obsessing ..... although if i wanna obsesses im in the right place! just dont want to get it wrong before i even start IYKWIM?

womanlytales · 25/08/2010 08:52

Hello, first up cd someone update my stats on the list, am on cd2 today.cavey good luck with ur appt and thanks for the caffeine info. I have read that caffeine can interrupt ovulation so I try to limit my intake to one cup.felicity I love mistresses. I also loved Sherlock. All things crossed for you chick, hope u get a bfp.lanky ertd arrived on Tuesday so am on my next cycle. I still think I am pregnant ...silly, mad me.11 is a prime number, so good luck to you. Great news on the house purchase and Mrl bday celebration. I am currently on 50 for b6. Thanks for the pornstar cocktail for bellaby best of luck Highheels on planning dh bday, pls keep us update on the accu appt.cherry it is not easy monitoring all this ttc stuff... but I think you are really brave for doing it for it's all very useful data.

JosieSmith1 · 25/08/2010 09:06

Oooo Kaloki how exciting! I just got married in June and it was fantastic! The best advice I can give - try not to be too nervous and make the most of the day, I was too nervous to really enjoy it and wish I had appreciated it a bit more.

Bellaby I have just finished Dexter Season 4, love it!

Keep positive CaveMum and just SWI whenever you can!

Good luck for this weekend Flick, hold out as long as you can!

Sorry to hear about your boss Dessie Sad

Welcome Trying, I have been off the pill for 3 months now and cycles have been normal all along so far.

I think that's everyone, sorry if I missed anyone out!

Met up with bro in law and his family at weekend (they have 3 kids under 6) and deicded that I am biting off more than I can chew and almost quit TTC! They were a nightmare! Don't get me wrong, they were well-behaved, just so energetic, and I'm terrified of them so when they were climbing all over me I was having palpitations! My poor dog was terrified and they kept trying to poke her! One child. I will have one and one only! Grin

gardenpixie · 25/08/2010 09:40

Morning Frolickers!

Steg and Flick I am keeping everything crossed for you that we have two BFPs to celebrate over the weekend Grin The symptoms all sound really promising!

Dessielou so sorry to hear about your old boss. There certainly is some crumble left so here you go:

HRHCavey how did the drs appt go?

Cherry sorry to hear your temps are all over the place - not helpful at all. I am thinking of starting a campaign to get ov and pg indicator lights fitted as standard in all females so we don't have to mess around with OPKs and HPTs ...

Crazy how are your cats today?

Josie THREE kids under 6? Blimey. Remind me not to do that! My SIL has three boys under ten and that's enough to put me off having any more than two. Keep reminding myself: my kids will be charming and lovely, they will, they will. They will help around the house and not be any trouble at all. AND they will sleep through the night (at least eight hours) as soon as we get them home from the hospital

womanly have you started the clomid today?

Not much news from me. Still loving the combination of clomid and vitB6. I think clomid has actually made my skin look great and I am sleeping better than I have done for ages. Really odd because I was expecting to be a hormonal wreck by this stage but I am, according to Mr Garden, "actually quite nice at the moment" Hmm

Happy Wednesdays everyone xx

Lovely ladies, thanks for thinking of me!

Dr was very good and didn?t in any way make me feel like a hypochondriac (which I know I can be!). She told me that it is still a bit early to be worrying yet and that I need to give it 6 months after coming off the Pill for my cycles to get back to normal ? particularly as I?ve been on it for so long (about 14 years).

She was very reassuring and said that if after 6 months I had not got back to a regular cycle they will send me for blood tests, but she said to just get cracking with the SWI-ing anyway as it may work itself out. She did reiterate that 90% of couples ttc will get pregnant within a year.

I asked about acupuncture/reflexology and she said that she was totally for it, in terms of treating pain, etc, but that she was not aware of any benefits for fertility. However she did say that it certainly wouldn?t do me any harm so it was up to me if I wanted to go down that route.

I?m feeling much calmer about it all now, though of course I?d rather FERTD would show up! Up until now DH and I have still been using protection as we didn?t want to start actively TTC until we knew what was happening with his job. Now that we have news on that we can get cracking!

So, to that end, can someone move me from the ?Waiting to TTC? to ?Not Counting Days?. No point in adding me to the main list as I have no cycle days!

Of course the one thing I wasn?t expecting out of it all was the comment from my boss this morning when I got in. I had told him I had a Drs appointment and would be a bit late, which he was fine with, but this morning when I got in he asked if the appointment had been about my skin?! Shock

I know I joked about looking like I have the Pox, but perhaps it is true! I fobbed him off with an excuse but I?m feeling a bit self conscious now! I?m sure there are probably pills and things I can take to sort my skin out, but I?d be afraid of that interfering with the ttc, so will have to put up with looking like a teenager and slap the foundation on a bit thicker!

Just noticed, Aries sorry to hear ERTD got you. Have a Pornstar cocktail and some cake.

Cavey Shock poor you! Terrible boss comment! But do you think that your skin could be going a bit haywire because your hormones are sorting themselves out? Not a very nice side-effect but it might be everything getting back to normal?

You definitely deserve some comfort crumpets and a large cup of tea xx

kkas · 25/08/2010 11:00

cavey how exciting that you are now properly TTC!!!! it must really feel like it is all falling into place. but what a shocking comment from your boss. can't believe people can be so rude. i agree with garden that it probably has to do with your hormones sorting themselves out and hopefully FERTD is right around the corner for you.

aries sorry to hear about ERTD.

CaveMum · 25/08/2010 11:33

Oh, I don't think my boss meant it like that! He's a sweetie! He said if I needed to take time off to get it sorted I should, so I think he was just being concerned!

I'll take up the offer of tea and crumpets though!

DessieLou · 25/08/2010 11:48

Morning all. Yes I know I'm late Miss, see you in detention!
Yeyyyy! Cavey is on the list!!! lol at your boss' comment, men can be so tactless!
Fingers crossed for Steg and Flick, sounds promising. Flick my friend has some fitflops. She's not convinced they do the job that well but says they're bloomin' comfy so they've got my vote. I have some of the tone up trainers...now they really do look like 'special shoes'!
Custard and cream garden....why you are spoiling me!
Glad to hear cherry is feeling better. Can be so up and down this TTC malarky. I think all our OH's deserve a medal!
Trying as everyone else has said, it really does depend on your body as to when your regular cycle will reappear. I've been off the injection for nearly 10 months and am just starting to get sorted (fingers crossed). My friend is having a tough time. She is desperate for baby 2 but since she has come off the pill about a year ago she is pretty much constantly entertaining FERTD. Poor girl. Makes it worse that she fell pg with DD whilst on the pill. So I'm counting myself lucky, things could be worse!

Great News about the doctor reassuring you cave and FAB news about you TTCing now! Yipeeee :) Shock at your boss but lovely that he said you could take time off to sort it Grin My skin is TERRIBLE at the minute at it is normally ok. I get the odd spot on my chin around FERTD but I have loads and I even have weird, really sore ones on my jaw line and under my chin. I wonder if these type of really sore ones, that not much puss comes out of, are hormonal spots? Sorry for TMI in the description there.

garden, you're our resident skin care guru. what do you think? I'm so pleased that you are still feeling great and what a bonus that your skin is glowing too.

Sorry about your FERTD aries Will your business quieten down after the summer? Am hoping that it will be quiet enough for you to get some SWI in, although not too quiet of course.

Yes, naughty dessielou detention for you! Thanks for info on fit flops- I will definitely get some when I can get to the shops.

I have bought my test to POAS on Friday. Thanks for teh extra luck womanly, josie and garden I doubt the reliability of tests out here though... they are all really cheap! I have invested in a clear blue one so hopefully that will be reliable but I have not yet opened the packet to investigate the sensitivity of it. I have ordered some super sensitive ebay cheapy ones that will do me for next month as they wont be here by Friday. Although they came in a pack of 20 Hmm so next month could be pretty dangerous for you all if I don't get a BFP this time around.

Will try to pop in before bed but have a date with Mad Men this eve (yes, I am a box set addict!)
