Thanks everyone, I'm just feeling a little down at the minute but will pick up soon enough (probably as soon as the SWI starts again!)

And thanks for the apple crumble garden, that'll go down nicely!

crazybutterflylady · 24/08/2010 10:54

Morning!

Sorry we're late miss flick [hang head in shame emoticon] Wink Hope you enjoyed your swim in the rain! I love swimming in the rain but I have to wear sunnies so it doesn't go in my eyes - yes I am one of these women who swims with their head stretching up above the water so as not to get anything wet hehe.

garden so chuffed to hear you're feeling happy and positive. Such a nice thing to hear - what strength B6 are you taking? It's included in my vits but only 100% of the RDA; not sure if more is better?

Florin Mr crazy was taking folic acid for a while and he thought I was being a bit ridiculous, so I got him some Wellman vitamins which include folic acid. Sneeaky! He takes those much more easily ;) some people say it's worth the man taking them, others don't. It can't hurt though! They do pregnacare for men now (well couple packs) so if he is less sensitive than Mr Crazy you could try those? Great to hear you're having a lovely holiday, keep it up!

highheels you're sounding really positive about things :) nice decision to make, going to the gym less. woohoo! I think relaxing more is a great idea. Maybe include a bath every other night with some essential oils? That book suggests ylang ylang and jasmine in the 2 weeks before OV and I have been having one when I can. Take a good book in and it takes your mind off the baby thing. I think that's my main problem: it's ALL I think about Blush I would love to say I am taking it in my stride but it's just not true.

HRHcavey we are missing you... stop workinggggg! Your forum needs you Wink

kaloki 17 days, that's so exciting! Are you all done and organised or are you finding it stressful?

Hi and welcome to the mad house thread trying

Hi to everyone else

I am doing ok, enjoying a week at home with Mr Crazy and the cats Grin. Not sure if I have OV'd yet, had a bit of EWCM for the past 5 days or so but only a smattering (!) I think Mr Crazy is hoping for it to stop soon for a bit of respite bless him.

Off to take my little bike in for a service now. Speak to you all later xx

womanlytales · 24/08/2010 11:38

florin, crazy - good luck with swi -- this phase is truly the best part... I think the past week and weekend has taken its toll on everybody with ERTD on relentless pursuit!!! josie sorry that you're feeling down - i do hope the days fly by till your swiathon.
garden I currently only take a tab for folic acid.. Do I just add the vit b6 to it and just continue on through the cycle - - or do we have it just for the follicular phase? Total newbie here so please share in detail :) Yes - I do plan to start clomid tomorrow though ERTD is very light this morning..hope it picks up during the day.
flick hope you enjoyed your swim. I love to swim though am really lazy cause it's a good 20 min bus ride from where I live...

Thank you for good wishes for the weight loss after a lifetime of starts and stops and yo-yo patterns, for once my efforts correspond with the results My biggest motivation of course is that all three specialists believe that if my weight came under BMI of 25 then my ovulation would happen because all the other hormone levels are in control. While going through the follicular monitoring in late June - July, this really hit home because I saw how my follicles grew and one got dominant and then at 16mm just stopped growing. Seeing that I think was a wake up call and also having DH monitor me daily on our 10 day vacation [yup - no fun! I didn't get to drink or have any dessert PLUS I ate very healthy stuff in low quantities and walked at least 10k steps every day]. The interesting outcome was that I lost weight...so when I got back and added regular exercise to that pattern - - it started to work. Typically in a cycle I bloat 2 days before ERTD and onwards...this cycle though - no such thing - My weight is continuing to drop based on my efforts.
Oh and the biggest change in my diet has been following a low gyceamic load diet -- so it doesn't feel like I am starving at all - feel full and happy with all that I have. I didn't crave chocolate (which is my nemesis #1) and fantasized that it was my 'real' pregnancy symptom but that theory is now in the bin as well - LOL. Now I just shudder when I pass by the chocolate aisle.
So long story short - GL diet + regular exercise. Hope it helps you too. I have a diet thread on another mumsnet board but the sad part is I am the only out there who's active. Losing weight is SOOOOOOOO hard.

Oh - and found two apps for my droid phone that are great Menstrual calendar and MyFitnessPlus Check it out.

gardenpixie · 24/08/2010 11:40

Hi crazy I am taking 20mgs of vit B6; apparently that's about 1000% of the RDA but I think it's OK if you take it with similar amounts of B12. They are both water soluble so your body can get rid of them if there's too much.

My consultant said it can also help the body deal with clomid as apparently it is now making my ovaries work enormously hard. Maybe this is why I am being very lazy at the moment? It's not me, it's my ovaries - they're exhausted!

Mr Garden has just started taking Boots multivitamins for men (I thought the "For Men" bit would make them sound macho)! It has all the normal vits, folic acid, zinc (which apparently is super important for swimmers) and some things like L-Carnitine and Arginine which are meant to be good for manly hormones. He's also trying his hardest to cut down on the fags (down to 2 a day now - bless), drink more water and less beer, and to avoid hot baths. Funnily enough, avoiding washing seems to have been the easiest thing for him to get his head round ...!

Inspired by womanly and flick am off for a run with my hound now Smile

gardenpixie · 24/08/2010 11:42

Sorry womanly x-post

re vitB6, I think we're meant to take it all the way through the cycle as it's real benefit is in raising progesterone levels during the luteal phase

gardenpixie · 24/08/2010 11:43

it's its real benefit (grrrrrrr)

womanlytales · 24/08/2010 12:03

Thank you garden - Big hug. Enjoy your run. I am going to go out and buy some right up. I need a lot of help with clomid (and really wish I could get your consultant too) -- GRRRR at my non communicative specialist

felicityFlick · 24/08/2010 12:19

It's bossymissFlick reporting back for duty crazy :)
I wouldn't say I enjoyed my swim but I am glad I went. The pool I go to is a 50metre pool so a length feels like such a long way! Are you off on holiday this week then? or are you working from home? Check you and your bike! PS. keep going with your SWI !!

Grin at cave and her swimming down! He he

garden you sound fab!! I think a positive attitude is half the battle with ttc and you have got that nailed. Thanks for the advice on vit B6. I will check that out when if FERTD arrives. Still chuckling at your exhausted ovaries Grin definitely us ethat as an excuse for Everything you don't want to do. 'Oh I can't possibly do the dishes, my ovaries are exhausted' Wink

Also thanks for the diet tips womanly . I shall have a little research into low GI diets.

Sorry you had a poo weekend josie. I think we all need one of those now and then just to let it all out and then we can return to our usual happy selves and crack on with another cycle of ttc. If we didn't have them I think we'd all go moremad.

Good to see you looking in on us florin Your day of crabbing (is that what it's called Confused) sounds idyllic. Especially combined with a wine or two. Sounds like you and your man are having a lovely time and will be perfectly primed for some PSFs Wink

MR. F is at a parents evening so I am just symptomspotting pottering around the house. Have remained strong on my not testing again until Friday but it's so hard :( flo- are you there??? send me some words of wisdom if you are.

Love to all xx

womanlytales · 24/08/2010 12:20

OK - got myself one of those Vit C+B complex tablets... [Evil laugh]

gardenpixie · 24/08/2010 12:31

womanly excellent re the vits - let me know how you feel on them. I started taking them the day before the clomid (as advised by my consultant). Will let you know anything else she tells me that might be of use (given your specialist isn't exactly the most communicative)

Flick I think you are right about me now having an excuse for not doing anything at all. I suspect my ovaries will be particularly exhausted around washing-up and / or vacuuming time!

Off to shower the dog now as he found an enormous puddle to jump and roll around in while we were out...

Truffkin · 24/08/2010 12:35

Hi everyone, I've not been on the thread all weekend so had a lot of catching up to do.

Garden you've got a great attitude going on! (and for what it's worth, my best friend has been taking clomid and says her skin is looking great!)

Josie sorry about your weekend, hope this next month is lucky for you

Womanly very impressed with your willpower, I am a sucker for chocolate and only during Lent each year do I go without for any significant period of time. You've done amazingly well.

Hello to everyone else too and hope your week is going well. I'm struggling to believe it's only Tuesday, am tired, busy at work and basically a total grump-fest. Hoping to get on here most days this week just for a quick catch up and to keep me smiling at the amusing things you gusy post.

So until next time, keeeeeeep shagging!

JosieSmith1 · 24/08/2010 12:38

I'm only taking asda's version of pregnacare. It's specifically for conception and has x amount of folic acid, can't remeber how much but I know it's what they recommend.

I'm feeling a little better now thanks, can start SWI so can be hopeful again for this cycle. On to day 5 of cycle already so it'll pass before I know it.

Did we not have any BFPs this weekend or have I just missed them?

haloflo · 24/08/2010 12:57

flick! How many DPO are you? Is Friday 19 dpo? All I could say about resisting testing is that it its meant to be you will still be pregnant Friday and finding out early won't change how you act, what you do or the outcome of the test but just mean you start the worry earlier! Give ERTD a chance to arrive then you won't get a horrid BFN.

I know its hard. I hope you can resist!

kaloki I hope your cramps ease up soon, you poor thing. Sad

Waves to everyone else. I will do a proper catch up in about a week (after my scan)

felicityFlick · 24/08/2010 13:33

Oh thanks flo you lovely thing! Yes, Friday is 19DPO. BFN's are the pits so will wait it out. Glad things are good with you, I am checking in on you all on the grads very frequently so can't wait to hear about your scan and ozzie's baby very, very soon! Lots of love xxx

No BFPS josie :( lots of FERTD though- BOOOOOOOOOO

Off to watch episode 3 of Mistresses on Iplayer now Mr. F is home from parents eve. I have got him hooked on it- anyone else watch it?

I'll see you all in the morning :) Have lovely rest of the days.

CaveMum · 24/08/2010 14:20

Afternoon minions ladies Wink

If anyone wants to watch a really good programme I really recommend Horsesense which was on ITV on Sunday night.

I missed it so watched it on ITV Net Player last night.

It was fabulous and had me crying at several stages - but I'm just soppy when it comes to horses!

Back to work!

CaveMum · 24/08/2010 14:21

Forgot the link [doh]

Horsesense with Martin Clunes

LankyLegs · 24/08/2010 14:39

Hello you lovely bunch,

Yes I was rubbish and didn't post last night. It was MrLanky's actual birthday last night and although we had a weekend of celebrations we ended up doing something last night too.

How are we all? I am loving the chat re the Vit B6 Garden and Womanly as I mentioned it totally sorted out my LP and I take 100mg of it everyday.

Oooh Flick keeping everything crossed for you sweets! I too think you should hold out until Friday as Flo mentioned. Am sooooo excited for you - really hope it happens! your symptoms sound so promising!

Flo thanks for dropping in! Look forward to hearing about your scan! Can't believe how quickly that has come by - so lovely!

Hey Aries sorry you are feeling a bit crap - I know how you feel. Its month 11 for me and starting to feel all disillusioned too.

Womanly Your posts are so inspirational - well done for losing all that weight - you are doing amazingly well. How did the article go? And also - are you testing soon?!

Garden Highheels Tigers Florin and Josie sorry for FERTD - lets keep our fingers crossed for this cycle hey? I am totally feeling positive about this cycle! Lets get on it gals!

Hello lovely Bella So pleased you have had your first pornstar - it's an experience isn't it?! How is the SWI-ing going this month? DH's birthday was lovely -he loved all his macho tool presents as well! Those leatherman tools are great - I got MrLanky's name engraved on it too!

Crazy hope you are having a lovely week at home and that all the SWI-ing is going well too. Your poor cats! They sound adorable though. Are you planning anything else nice for this week?

Highheels planning bloke's birthday's is hard work - hope you are getting on ok with that! I am supposed to be starting my 'detox' soon as well - but seem to be drinking more coffee now on this new project so not conducive to starting my detox - but am going to set a date an stick with it.

Waves to cavey are you feeling a bit better now my dear? Hopeso. Will have to check out the horse program you mentioned!

Hello to everyone else I have missed! Kkas Zippys Cherry and others!

I am trying to get to grips with new project I am managing plus trying to work on old project too - ahhhh! Not nice. No time to mumsnet in the day anymore :(

ERTD is finally over and my fertility monitor had an attempted delivery yesterday but is now sat at the post office until I can get there - which wont be for 2 weeks as we are in Devon this weekend. SO not a great start to cycle 11! Will have to stick with temping alone in the meantime.

We had a lovely foody weekend for MrL's birthday and the house purchase is going through nicely! I can't complain really but I feel so bad when feeling crap about the whole TTC thing when everything else is going good - feel really ungrateful sometimes!

Other than that will be cracking on with the shagging!! Am hoping that the thyroxine will do its thing and bring my TSH down to more conceivable levels.

Right I better crack on with it!

Good luck to Flick Steg and Ilovemarmite - looks like you are all testing soon!

Truffkin · 24/08/2010 18:00

Ooh Flick I've loved Mistresses since the first episode and was disappointed that this last series is only 4 weeks long. I can#t watch it with DH though as he mocks, so I Sky+ it and watch it when he's not about to ruin the experience! Lucky for me he's out on Thursday so I can revel in the last one without fear of annoying funny comments from him! Looking forward to hearing from you on Friday when you test.

I also forgot to say earlier that I'm only taking folic acid at the moment as this is what the nurse who removed my implanon recommended. Will see how that goes for a while I think (and I got it on 3 for 2 in Boots so was pleased with myself, as I was when I bought Boots HPT's that were reduced to £4.76!)

TomboyWife · 24/08/2010 19:18

Evening ladies!

josie sorry to hear about your crap weekend. Sad

Interesting discussion about B vitamins as well. I've stopped taking the bog standard supermarket multi because of the Vitamin A, and I'm becoming more and more convinced I should get Pregnacare or similar. Up til now I've balked at the price.

CD15 and I don't think I've ovulated yet, but suspect I'm about to.

What are people doing re: caffeine? I know too much of it is risky if you're actually pg, but does it stop you getting pg in the first place? Up til now I've tried to keep it in check during the 2ww, but not worried about it during the other half of my cycle.

mumnerves · 24/08/2010 19:59

Evening ladies,

For those of you in UK (sorry if you're not) this website are offering 2 free pregnancy tests, thought it may come in handy for some of you x

CaveMum · 24/08/2010 20:12

Tomboy the piece I read on caffeine, in What To Expect Before You're Expecting, said that you don't need to cut out caffeine altogether, but you should try to limit it to no more than 200mg a day.

This is equal to a 360ml brewed coffee (a 'Tall' in your standard coffee shops).

A can of caffieinated fizzy drink contains about 45mg.
A cup of tea is between 40mg and 60mg
A can of Red Bull is 80mg

Generally speaking, 2 cups of coffee or 4 cups of tea or 4 cans of coke is your advised limit. The same limits apply to pregnancy.

haloflo · 24/08/2010 20:14

I can recommend those tests! Worked for me Smile

PS flick sorry I didn't say it earlier but good luck. I really hope your waiting pays off and you get a BFP whenever you test.

Bellaby · 24/08/2010 20:47

Evening All

Another busy day in here. I had a very lazy day at work and achieved nothing Hmm

Felicity - I was having a sneaky lie in this morning so missed your wake up call - can you please yell a bit louder next time! I think it's perfectly normal to be more aware of the way your body is feeling although I'm sure all of us in this room have very active imaginations and every slight twinge or sensation can become a big deal Grin. I will keep my fingers crossed for your POAS on Friday but I would be very sad to see you move to the graduates as would miss you loads. My Mum was talking about Mistresses at the weekend - as DH didn't sound the slightest big interested I'm going to download it onto my iPad to watch so I'm happy you've given it the thumbs up. We are currently watching Breaking Bad at home but will soon be moving onto Dexter Series 3 which has just arrived!

Kaloki - sorry to hear about your rubbish doctor. I'll share a glass of wine with you but shh don't tell Mr B otherwise I will have broken my side of the bargain Wink. How exciting that your wedding day is so close!

Hello Tryingasofthen - welcome to our fab group Grin

womanly -thats brilliant about your weightless. Here have a Pornstar cocktail to celebrate (Calorie free of course Smile)

Josie - you poor thing. Hope you feel better soon x

Florin - lovely to hear from you. The holiday activities sound like a lot of fun - nothing like being able to feel like a kid again Grin

Garden - great to hear you sounding so cheerful! I'm going to have to check on this Vitamin B6 thing..... yes pregnacare tablets seem to have 10mg per tablet so hopefully that is sufficient. I'm so jealous that you have a dog - I would so love to have a dog (after a baby of course Smile)

Lanky - I'm glad your DH liked his presents. I am not sure if I am achieving SWI exactly but I have told DH that we are possibly in the optimal window of opportunity. Unfortunately DH got a bit of friction burn (don't ask me how - I really can't see how it happened) so he's put himself 'off games' for tonight. Hopefully he'll make a speedy recovery. How long is your new project going to last?

Cavey - you are turning into our resident Braniac - I like it Grin

Tomboy -everything in moderation in here although alcohol doesn't come under that rule - it's 'moderation plus a little bit more' rule Wink

Hello to everyone else

Bellaby
xxx

Bellaby · 24/08/2010 20:48

Halo - hello. Lovely to see you popping in xxx

Ariesgirl · 24/08/2010 21:01

Aha, Trumpkin. Here too eh? My man too mocks Mistresses (how alliterative). It should be called Women Who Shag Men They Shouldn't.
