Welcome to the 2009 MN Christmas Appeal Thankyou Thread

First of all thank you very much to my good friend NormaStanlelFletcher for organising the whole thing

Each mumsnetter that receives a parcel will see a number printed on it.

When adding to this thread could you all please mention the number so that the sender knows for definite it was their parcel.

Thank to MNHQ for helping norma with this mammoth task.

A Very Happy Christmas to you all

Hope you have given said doggy lots of huddles before you set him up for his long walk....

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 15/01/2010 23:25

MNHQ did say they were looking into things, I've not heard from them yet though.

magicOC · 15/01/2010 23:30

Well he is setting off with his passport (bit like Paddington ) as he has heard all the grumbles about royal mail so taking no chances . Lillyloo lives in the UK, but, he might get to her DD via the USA or somewhere else .

I'm sure he will tell LL's DD all about his travels when he arrives.

christmasyspirit · 16/01/2010 10:05

I just want to come and say thankyou again as have just received another present through the post.

The ref number is 09561. I want to say a huge thankyou to the lovely person that sent it. The little birds are a hit with my 2 girls, one is 7 months and is obsessed with them (think cos they are amazingly soft and fluffy!)

Will take the girls asap to the nearest wh smith too so that we can each get a book with the gift card I am sitting here wearing my lovely perfume and feeling very priveliged. Again, thankyou so much from the bottom of my heart and I hope yourself and your family had a magical christmas xx

cherrymonster · 16/01/2010 11:02

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 17/01/2010 22:38

Still no news from MNHQ about the ones who have yet to send as they have no details and the ones who have yet to recieve. Sorry folks

magicOC · 17/01/2010 22:54

Looks like it's all been abandoned

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 17/01/2010 23:00

I am quite about this to be honest. I had a really shi*e year so this was an appropriate end to it all

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 17/01/2010 23:03

magic, I don't think LES has recieved anything. I didn't either, I can put out a shout for anyone else so you can choose who to send it to if you still wish to.

magicOC · 17/01/2010 23:24

Fluffy none of the things would suit your DC. Dont know about LES situation tho.

Well I have very warm velour pink pj's aged about 6yrs (brand new)and Some girlie stocking fillers like little note pads etc would probably suit the same age(could go to same child)

Pirates of the carribean figure (might have 2 can't get to the bag at the mo) plus poster and a boys dino lunch box.

Some kids videos(not dvds) un-used can list if interested.

Will cost quite a bit to post that's why I was happy to drop off especially if fletch could have found the one place.

I'm a bit disapointed that it has been left like this with no closure TBH

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 17/01/2010 23:32

IIRC, she has a few children, ages range from a baby to 10, mainly boys IIRC. I'll have to do some searching.

I am more disappointed for everyone else. I didn't expect to be nominated, it was really lovely but it wouldn't have been the end of the world if I hadn't. There are people far worse off then me on here though and the thought of them being missed off doesn't sit easy with me.

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 17/01/2010 23:47

can I confess I am a little that I wasn't nominated, I'm too blardy proud to nominate myself (as per every other year) - but I had sort of hoped I would have been nominated this year.

And I feel even worse because I didn't get a match so couldn't send my (admittedly very small) donation to someone

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 17/01/2010 23:52

hey woman, no donation is too small.

You can send it to me if you want to stop me from moaning

I'm sorry you were not nominated. I wasn't around much over christmas, too much going on with my mum's broken hip, my incurable illness, ds's legs that nearly needed surgery, ds's grandad's stroke then granny being diagnosed with bowel cancer. I needed to hide for a bit. If I had have been around I would have nominated you.

Santa09901 · 18/01/2010 09:07

09901 - so glad you got the items and that you like them I was having a bit of a miserable day yesterday and seeing your post cheered me right up!

For everyone that's worrying a bit - I got my match just before Christmas but couldn't send things until the 5th Jan and they've only just been delivered so there's still hope?

cherrymonster · 18/01/2010 09:15

awassailing- how old are your dc's and what do you have? i still have a few bits not accounted for

bellavita · 18/01/2010 09:18

I am sorry you did not get anything

and I did not receive a match - I must have been one of the easiest to match. I said I could buy for anyone. My boys are older now and don't do toys. So I said I would buy new for whoever (blank canvass really...).

I too am sorry that there has not been a closure on this. Even if Norma had come on and said that she was too busy with work to finish it, there have been plenty of offers to finish the task off.

cherrymonster · 18/01/2010 09:42

bella- shall we take over finishing it off? if we can get norma to find out who has not received, and who has not been matched and we could finish the last few off

HappyMummyOfOne · 18/01/2010 09:48

It would be nice for it to be finished off, I've no idea if my gifts arrived (stupidly forgot to put tracking on them as only got the address to post on 23rd Dec so was rushing madly) and we dont seem to have a place for queries now. Did try emailing but no joy that way.

Perhaps this years appeal needs to be done by a few people rather than one person taking on the mammouth task and maybe running a little earlier in case of any hitches.

cherrymonster · 18/01/2010 10:00

happymummy, you are a sender right? do you have a ref number i can check with norma?

bellavita · 18/01/2010 10:05

Cherry, I would love to - but I work and would only be able to do a small part of it.

How about a new thread is set up asking for those mner's who said they wished to donate and did not receive a match (would they still like to do it) and another thread which we obviously need to keep bumped giving an email address to reply to for those who either nominated themselves and did not get anything and for those who did the nominating and are pretty certain the names that they gave did not received anything.

Does anyone else know of a better system that could be done to get this finished?

I actually sorted my own matches out in the end as someone else that I nominated did not receive anything (but obviously at that time, I did not know that Awwas did not get anything either).

HappyMummyOfOne · 18/01/2010 10:05

CM, tried checking with Norma but not sure she is picking up emails now from the xmas address. The number was 09999.

Am kicking myself for forgetting the tracking (and insurance as the items were new) but was rushing to get it out before xmas in the vain attempt it would arrive in time.

cherrymonster · 18/01/2010 10:05

i do think this years should be done by more than one person! i think 3 might be ideal, one to organise the nominees, one to organise the senders, they would then work together to match them up, and the one to organise the threads on here, get answers to questions and generally oversee the online activity of it all. i will happily volunteer to be one of the organisers
