Christmas

I know this is early but are we going to have an MN Christmas Appeal this year?

Just thought I would ask as the last one was launched on 1st Oct last year.

I suppose I am saying that if no-one more competent and organised than me comes forward, I am prepared to do it. But would like to speak to Soapbox, LL or StG for pointers before launch iyswim.

I find myself quite time rich over the next few weeks while my security clearance is processed for my new job.

So Wadda we think?

Can someone enlighten me as to why there is moldie slating over teh Christmas appeal??

FWIW I have been involved with teh secret santa jobby a couplkeof times last year I think as well, I can't remember. Then I didn't post for 5 weeks, some people had left and whatever.

WHY have the moldies ruined the secret santa appeal???

May I state again that I think the mouldies thing has fuck all to do with Christmas or secret santa or anything else on this thread

Moldies:

Several MNetters were disenchanted with the way that MN was growing/changing, so they set up their own, separate site. Said site is private - neither site nor posts can be found on Google - and membership is by request and approval only. Some attempts were made to keep it secret from the rest of MN. Moldies then started to recruit new members from MN, but all potential new recruits had to be vetted/approved; cue lots of upset when some found out that they had been turned down. And lots more upset when people found out that the site existed and that they hadn't been invited to join.

nicely summed up BIWI

And now can we get on with the Christmas appeal?

(I hope that the Moldie explanation is sufficiently thorough and neutral, and also allows us all to move on on this thread)

thanks for letting us know

LadyoftheFlowers, I think it best for you to do a search or seventy two under 'moldies' in the MN archives, if you have a week or so to spare

We are OK to do this again.

Feel free to email me NormaStanley, although the best piece of advice I can give you is DO NOT DO IT.

Honestly, for your own sanity, step away from the appeal now.

(Can I just say that when I said about there not being much uptake - that was based on threads I saw mentioning it over the summer, not just my random musings )

Count me in too NormaStanley. Well done for volunteering.

StG was still sane by the Xmas meet-up last year as I recall - maybe it all went downhill after that? She did a great job. As did LL and Soapy before her.

As I am not in UK I usually send vouchers to whoever I am matched against.
