I usually go but I am sick (pg) I reserved everything last night so all he knew was to take the number and come back with what they gave him .

He has spent a £130.00 and got everything that was on the but we also now have a

HSM PHone

HSM laptop

HSM light up mirror

HSM floor cushion

HSM singing tothbrush

HSM make up set

HSM washbag

At first I thought it was someone elses shopping that he had got by mistake but it is all on the list and at the side of all the HSM stuff it all says 0.00!

So wwyd I feel bad because someone is going to get into trouble but on the other hand dd loves HSM so truthfully would you keep it or take it back.

Also dp paid in cash so they are not going to debit a card later or anything .

fmv, I'm considering a placard too. A heavy one so I can feel like a martyr as I parade up and down with it.

There's a beer festival here this weekend. I'm going to stand outside it with my tambourine and look earnest. They're all there already. Drunk. In daylight hours.

I do have 'SanctimoniousTeetotalPrig' reserved as a namechange for days like today.

oh that's wonderful DP, I love to hear there are still honest people around.

Tabbykat · 01/11/2008 15:15

If they were scanned it does sound like they might be freebies? But if not I'd phone them and ask what they want to do, but the onus is on them to collect it if they can be bothered. If not, give a bit to kids for Xmas, and some to charity if you feel guilty.

fmv, have you been drinking? You're babbling again.

daftpunk · 01/11/2008 15:18

yeah...it made me feel so good fmv..it really did...that someone was honest enough to hand it in...i nearly cried.

amidaiwish · 01/11/2008 15:18

I'd phone them and tell them. See what they say. Do not offer to bring them back. Do not agree to take them back. If they want them back they have to collect them at a pre-agreed time.

If it was a small retailer i would be more willing to help them out, but Argos are the pits.

By the way i had a delivery from John Lewis once, a totally random order arrived which was addressed to me but not what i ordered. I phoned them and they arranged for them to be collected. I stayed in all day but the courier didn't come. Phoned again, they said my original order would be delivered on tuesday and the courier would collect the wrong order. Tuesday came and went, nothing. So i phoned them again and they refunded my order. They were not interested in the wrong order, almost as if they couldn't handle the complication. So i took them into John Lewis and got a BIG FAT REFUND. Good. I earned that money sitting in for 2 flipping days waiting for them!

but deep down i know that was bad.

daftpunk · 01/11/2008 15:21

but back to the op...if i was given aload of free hsm crap..i'd ring up and complain.

SaTanicGore · 01/11/2008 15:22

Have you looked at the items you did buy on the website and checked if any freebies came with them?

The HSM make up case is certainly on the Argos site as a freebie with a couple of items. Not looked for the others.

stardazzle · 01/11/2008 15:22

peachy - i didn't host the party just went, don't think it was a freebie but will phone and check. i'm assuming it was one of the others order and got popped in my bag by mistake

filthymindedSixSixSixen · 01/11/2008 15:23

SOH ! the pooter posted twice, not me!
I have been digging my allotment and not a drop will touch my lips until @ 8pm, when I might take a wee dram to keep off the chill at the community bonfire...

EnchantedWithEdwardCullen · 01/11/2008 15:26

Someone I know got a free £1200 LCD television by similar means!

Slight fault to it (just a few missing pixels) and manufacturer sent out brand new replacement TV and were going to pick up other... they dropped off new one but never collected the old one.

Flightattendant4 · 01/11/2008 15:36

Oh it's the old 'Argos website glitch' shenanigans again.

They seem to make a habit of it. It was free radio with a hifi system last time, but iof you added two radios you didn;t have to buy anything - they turned up free the next day. That's the ones I took back to the shop. i think they actually refunded my postage to me as well, which was nice of them.

I just can't live with stuff like that but if it's HSM crap stuff for your kids, it doesn't matter. I'd have had to sell the radios and make a profit, but kids having free bits isn't a big deal.

Tortington · 01/11/2008 15:41

i would so kep it
fuck em incompetant bastards.

Flier · 01/11/2008 15:46

UpJacobsCreek - you'll need to send DP out shopping more often!! lol

WallOfSilence · 01/11/2008 15:53

I'm afraid I have absolutely NO morals whatsoever.. I would keep it.

It appears on your receipt..whoever put it through with the order is under the impression that it is free...it appears at £0.00 on your receipt.. it's yours. Easy.

I have a lovely green cardi that I got under the same circumstances a couple of years ago.

Anyway, last week we paid £9.99 for a family cinema ticket. We then got a voucher for £4.50 off at the concessions stand.. what we got cant to £14.50. I give the girl a £20 note. Then I give her the £4.50 voucher... all she had to do was give me £10 back from my £20 & keep the voucher.... instead she handed me my £5.50 change back.. said she couldn't work the voucher... then give me my popcorn, cola etc.. as well as my £5.50 change, but I didn't realise at that point the change was wrapped up in the receipt, not until I got it out of my pocket later... (so you see what happened... I got £11 change back from a £20 note.. when the food was £14.50) Hmm I just took it as a sign that cinema prices are so expensive anyway, they charge too much for popcorn....and I hoped the girl didn't get into trouble...

Ooh, not sre. It just ine or two items I'd have assumed freebies and kept. But so much - £100 worth. Makes it more of a dilemma.

I'd probably just hone the national number and tell the about it. But I would not offer to take back. I would make sure they did all the running to collect, and all the expense.

AbbaFan · 01/11/2008 16:04

OP - When your DH was paying and all the stuff came up as 0.00, what did the cashier say?

BTW - I would keep the stuff.

FlameNPumpkins · 01/11/2008 16:08

I have no idea how that works either WoS but I always remember your cardy

Ooh do argos pay so well you can support 8 children on the wage??

UpJacobscreek · 01/11/2008 16:16

Ok I rang the national line took ages to get through ,they took my number and said someone would be back in touch with me during next week unless I would like to drop it off at the store ,I declined and said someone would have to pick it up.

No thankyou for your call or anything just someone who sounded completley disinterested .

Nbg · 01/11/2008 16:17

I'd be very very tempted to keep the lot, but being an ex shop girl, part of me would have to call them up and explain whats happened.
Whoever put it through the till has made a mistake and when it comes to cashing up, there will be a discrepancy and it will be very clear who made that discrepancy.
Questions will be asked!

I'd feel awful knowing that someone might be getting into trouble, even losing their job through an honest mistake.
