Thread 2 - the one where I try to get organised

[Reastie]

Hope I'm not tempting fate with that thread title
This is intended as a friendly, kind, safe, warm and fuzzy place for people to share discounts, bargains and Christmas gift ideas both online and IRL. Please note the tone and intention of the thread and join with spirit as generous as DC helping themselves to the Christmas chocolate celebrations .

Here’s some useful information about how to save the thread or a specific post so you don’t need to have a message to check in for every thread so you have the thread saved:

To watch the thread - click on the little bell that has ‘watch’ under my first message. This adds the whole thread to your ‘watched threads’

You can also bookmark a specific post by clicking on the ‘bookmark’ under the specific post. This saves your exact place in a thread but doesn’t alert you to new replies.

If you have any referral links or codes, please share them on the referral thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5577375-bargain-referrals-thread

A reminder that we don't use affiliated links on here please (I think that's the term, let me know if I got that wrong).

If there’s anything you think would be useful or good to include in this post then please do tag me and let me know here (or DM me).

You are all wonderful and I’m now going back to my mince pie and stollen (never too early!).

Thank you!

@Toooldforlonghair I highly recommend Booja Booja chocolate - it's all gluten free

Zavvi have a couple of deals on at the moment, mostly figures and trading cards but also some good deals on Star Wars and Batman t shirts that may be good gifts.

I don't remember who mentioned the tobio watercolor sets, but last year Typo had something very similar and they were heavily discounted before Christmas (black friday maybe?). May be worth having a look there

That reminds me, I still haven't got all my Zavvi black friday christmas order from last year! Finally got one tshirt in April that was on its last legs on arrival after hassling them for ages.

Good luck! Still waiting for the final bits from my 2022 order.

Going to join in on the Zavvi warnings! I ordered about 5 things...after arguing with them for about a year I received 2 of them, and kept arguing until they ended up refunding me for the others!

Joining in. Zavvi used to be great but now more of a scam

Qwertee have 75% off right now

Shopping in The Range and spotted these nice wooden boxes for anyone looking to do a family hamper type gift or just wanting the ( sorry to mention) Elf to bring a nice surprise.

https://amzn.eu/d/065tykAA 50% off a starwars lego set age 8+

Last year my daughter told me of a fight over pencils in her class and an exasperated teacher (primary)... So she got a packet of pencil and eraser chocolates, and a pack of personalised pencils as I laughed at the 5 year old telling me the story.....

Thankyou so much @CaffeinatingAndTolerating and others for the Thompson & Morgan seeds link - I thought I'd missed the boat on the pretty packets but now I have presents for DSD and DMIL! (and accidentally bought myself a load of seeds too )

Depends on the age of your child and your budget… at primary school they had one teacher so I got a gift card for Starbucks or similar. At secondary they have a lot more teachers so I get a mini box of guylian or mini tin of biscuits for a pound or two each, and the teachers were very pleased apparently (I guess secondary school teachers don’t get as many gifts).

For those getting wine - last year someone on here found some wine on Amazon which was on Subscribe and Save as well as discounted, so you got the reduction for S&S as well - then you just immediately cancel the S&S and get much cheaper wine. (Disclaimer - I am no wine connoisseur so I can't vouch for how "good" it was but it tasted fine to me and none of my recipients complained )

I feel like I have read about Harts of Stur on here but can't remember why! Was tbere an additional discount by any chance?! 🤞

Bought these Bluey figures today in Home Bargains for £3.99

Thank you for the Crocs info.
I joined up to the Crocs Club first and was sent a 15% discount. So I had a green pair for £29.74 with free postage.
Before I applied the 15% code, it gave me a 10% for being a member of the Croc’s Club.
My first present 😀

We get none!😔🤣 Poor us! My BF is primary & gets some seriously great gifts! But the card is the best & only bit that's important, truly.

I have about 12 to buy for - ASN school. Last few years have been keyring/ small candle or lovely Christmas soap- TKMaxx great for these. This year I've gone for the festive spray & oil sets from Yorkshire Trading. They are bargainous at £2.99 each. Not arrived yet, but I'm hoping they come soon.

No additional codes, just a really good sale. 80-90% off some items. Last year when it got closer to Christmas there were a few posters asking about deals on knife block sets, and cheese knife sets, both of which are in the Harts sale with huge reductions for really good brands (eg Sabattier knife block set reduced from £50 to £6.50).

Clinique is tested on animals too. Any brand that sells in China is, so most of the big ones.

@QuirkyQuoter Blue light card discount of 25% for the Adidas site if that’s any use.

There's a good article summarising the growing changes to China's animal testing regulations here - https://freebunni.com/cruelty-free-cosmetics-in-china/
