Thanks so much to @Sideorderofchips for keeping things going. I can barely believe it's September and (for me at least!) that only means one thing - Christmas can start!!!!

Hope you've all had a great year and have missed you all. Last couple of years I've had various health things going on so have been a bit distant from the threads. Not quite there yet but feeling stronger than this time last year and I can't wait until I see more festive items in the shops! I've already bought my advent calendar - I've got the taskmaster one (which I'm quite excited about!).

I'll post various links etc in the next thread first post but essentailly you guys know the drill - share and be nice or leave.

<waves to everyone>

Thanks for the new thread, looking forward to more bargainous buys!

OMG!! YAY!!
Ive not been on the pre bargain threads but looking forward to the Christmas countdown with these threads - I have to hide the fact I’m even on here from my dp because he doesn’t believe in Christmas until 24th December.
Loads of my Christmas presents come from these bargains so looking forward to another year of hunting them down!
Thanks once again @Reastiefor leading the way! Glad to hear you’re feeling better this year.

Aw my favourite thread of the year. Ding dong merrily and all that.

IlovePond · Yesterday 07:01

Thanks very much for the thread @Reastie and to @Sideorderofchips for the pre-Xmas build up.

I hope your health continues to improve x

Re: Xmas bargains

The White Company now has an extra 15% off all sale stock.

They have some adorable woolly sheep/rabbit/spring decorations in the sale that could easily become Xmas decorations. I also picked up a mini Father Christmas hanging plushie for £4.10. I think it’s meant as a baby toy, (they also had a Xmas sheep version), but it’s going on my tree.

They had some lovely children’s items reduced in my local - including a Xmas knitted hat for a baby.

The best deals are probably in-store, but if shopping online, code: BANKHOL15 gives 15% all sale stuff.

This would make a subtle Xmas jumper for grown ups, (it’s thin material, very soft), and £35 with the discount:

My friend bought the dress version from our local shop for Xmas Day - it’s lovely, very flattering and with the discount cost £28!

Hurray! I have been discussing advent calendars with my DC this week as I have been following the beauty advent calendar thread for the past month or so and DH can’t understand why I am talking about Christmas already… I know everyone on this thread can! 🎄

Mine used to be the same until he realised that Christmas happened because of my organisation in the preceding months. I heard him telling his friends how organised I was and felt a little smug.
It's worth going back through the bargain threads.

@Reastie@sideorderofchips
Thank you for the best bit of Mumsnet.

Perfect timing! It's DD's birthday this week, and Xmas always starts just after that!

Marking my place! Thank you @Reastie @sideorderofchips

Offherrockingchair · Yesterday 07:43

Thanks @Reastie Been on these threads since mine were tiny and they’re now teens, had some great bargains over the years. Let the countdown (and the saving) begin!

BigWig78 · Yesterday 07:44

Hooray! Great to see you back and thank you! But please can you remember to urge people to use the Bookmark function so we don’t have 3 pages each thread of “marking my place” posts taking up so much of the thread? 🤦🏻‍♀️
FYI other posters- at the bottom of each post there is a “bookmark” option. Select it and it keeps your place on the thread without the need to write a post to say you’re marking your place and using up posts!!!

Woo hoo. My favourite thread of the year. Thanks Reastie.

jocktamsonsbairn · Yesterday 07:47

Yay!! Thank you @Reastielive this thread! Saves Christmas every year! Not had any deals to share so far in the pre Xmas thread but hope they will start coming through soon!! Looking forward to the festive bargains build up!

CharlieWeasleysWife · Yesterday 07:59

Checking in! Welcome back @Reastie and everyone else. I'm very late this year, nothing purchased so far, but trying to be more selective and certain in my choices as the DC grow older and have stronger opinions.

Further to this, if you use the 'watch' button bottom right of Reastie's first post, Mumsnet will will show a notification whenever someone posts which will take you to your bookmark.

So glad i’m not the only one thinking about xmas! Even though i’ve still got both DC birthdays to go before then!

Jinxjacobs · Yesterday 08:17

Three cheers @Reastie! Relatives are still mentioning the (bargain) skechers slippers I nabbed last year.

Emma hardie moringa 200ml balm is still half price on amazon - £37.50! I've treated myself, but it's a fantastic luxury gift for fans of it. Make sure you select 200ml, as the 100ml is going for £39

Place marking! Picked up some great bargains last year, so thanks all!

I know lots of people are looking for cheaper bargains, but small businesses often have great Christmas deals on (and of course, sales mean so much for more them than they do for the likes of amazon, John Lewis etc)

Small Business Supporters- Christmas | Mumsnet

I know there’s a long standing Christmas bargains thread, but I thought it might be worth starting a thread for people who want to support small busin...

So sorry to hear of your health @Reastie and wishing you the swift recovery you deserve. I say deserve because (and I can't think how many years this has been going for, but I've been on MN for 20 now) I think you've probably made millions of people's Christmas that little bit better. From the thousands people on the thread who join and post every year. Those who just watch and grab the odd bargain here and there. Those who don't use MN at all, but in the office, as someone calls across, "Jane, your granddaughter would like this" and shares a link to a bargain from here. Then of course, there's all the lucky recipients.

This is my happy place. And I know it is for so many others. It wouldn't be Christmas for me without you and your thread. It's tradition.

Thank you, from our household, and on behalf of the countless people who've had that little bit more joy because of you and your threads ❤️
