Christmas bargain thread one - the one where it officially starts!

Thanks so much to @Sideorderofchips for keeping things going. I can barely believe it's September and (for me at least!) that only means one thing - Christmas can start!!!!

Hope you've all had a great year and have missed you all. Last couple of years I've had various health things going on so have been a bit distant from the threads. Not quite there yet but feeling stronger than this time last year and I can't wait until I see more festive items in the shops! I've already bought my advent calendar - I've got the taskmaster one (which I'm quite excited about!).

I'll post various links etc in the next thread first post but essentailly you guys know the drill - share and be nice or leave.

Biggest hits for me last year were the Dreamland heated throws at less than £30 each and the year before a neck light which I still use almost every day for crafting or doing puzzles in the evening. (Bargain at around £11 when I bought it, newer version is the one linked, bit more expensive now).

Great gift for anyone difficult to buy for, comes in handy for lots of things; DH borrows it when doing fiddly DIY things.

I'm going to try and keep an eye on the Dreamland website as I would really like a couple more of the throws and I can see I ordered them on 8th September last year. They are currently £49.99.

Do you have any recommendations. Sounds like the perfect gift for myself while WFH

This is my second year on this thread. Got some great bargains last year - things I would never have thought of buying.

Already bought lots for this year as I need to be super organised. Waiting for a date to go into hospital for an operation with a 2 - 3 month recovery time. Not allowed to lift anything heavier than a cup of tea, so online shopping only!

Good morning, reporting for duty this year is going to be a little different because I may or may not be a grandparent in time for Christmas.
My lovely dh has already ordered my advent calendar (perk of wedding anniversary been in November), I’ve got the look fantastic one again.

Welcome back @Reastie . Last year I had emergency surgery in November and spent 3 weeks in hospital. I had to do all of my Christmas shopping online and lots of it came from these threads. Unfortunately I might be having similar surgery around the same time this year, so these threads will be a big help again.

@GreenShady Thank you that is a fabulous one I love redfoot slippers and bought a bunch when they closed down a few years ago I was gutted - have picked up a pair for me and for DM for christmas

The slippers are really only for the small of foot - only sizes 3, 4 and 5 atm but glad that some of you have swooped in successfully!

I have an Amazon deal to share. I ordered this Buzz Lightyear for £22.50 for my 4 year old who has recently got into Toy Story. It’s a full sized Buzz with the visor and a rocket. These are normally about £40.
He says a number of phrases and the Amazon delivery guy was bemused as he’d been talking in his van.

This thread too is part of our Christmas tradition in the QVC household - I pass on all the bargains to friends and family! Wonder how long before someone mentions too much chat OR too much chat about Xmas too early lol!

Found two advent calendars (without chocolates) as friends and family like these better. Museum Selection have a lovely cat one (ideal for cat lovers) and a smashing library book one. You can pre-order for delivery after 23.9.26 (the cat one) and library one is in stock and both are £6.99 each. Postage is £5.99 which is steep, but the products are lovely and if you get a few things it may justify the postage? Hope that helps someone who would like different kind of advent calendar x

I’m another old timer but a regular name changer. I still think the best bargain was the Playmobil school which was well
over a decade ago. That was so well played with! DC1 is now heading into 6th form.
Sorry to hear that you’re continuing to have health struggles, Reastie, but glad to hear that you’re in a better place than you have been.
Back when I was first on these threads, I think I had to buy for 30 or 40 people including 15 or so little ones but, over the years, I have massively worked on reducing that so it’s really just my own DC, parents & In-laws and a couple of token presents for friends. This makes Christmas prep very different but this thread will still be invaluable.
I’n in need of a Dreamland throw myself as DPup chewed through the cord of mine, fortunately when it wasn’t plugged in.
I got both my parents one of those neck lights last Christmas as they were really confused at first but both love them now. DH even got himself a spare! I’ve used mine loads too.

I'd love some tips on where to find the comfiest electrically heated battery powered socks to keep my Reynaud's tootsies toastie this winter.

So far I have a pair that have those annoying little suckers underneath, making them difficult to slip inside my slippers, I would love some normal looking heated socks that have batteries to keep them warm for hours.
