Thanks so much to @Sideorderofchips for keeping things going. I can barely believe it's September and (for me at least!) that only means one thing - Christmas can start!!!!

Hope you've all had a great year and have missed you all. Last couple of years I've had various health things going on so have been a bit distant from the threads. Not quite there yet but feeling stronger than this time last year and I can't wait until I see more festive items in the shops! I've already bought my advent calendar - I've got the taskmaster one (which I'm quite excited about!).

I'll post various links etc in the next thread first post but essentailly you guys know the drill - share and be nice or leave.

Do people give advent calendars as presents, and if so do you keep them until Christmas to give them? They confuse me every year 😀

Last year as a total surprise my dh gave me the look fantastic advent calendar for my anniversary gift. Our anniversary is early November, I liked it that much he’s got me it again this year.

My MIL usually gets me the M&S beauty one and gives it to me on Christmas Day. It's much nicer opening it through miserable January 😊

I’ve just seen in home bargains a hot chocolate advent calendar for £10. It’s quite big too.

Cheers, just ordered the faux fur throw. Have one already but can’t resist this, my husband can use the other one.
Definitely saves on heating bills and so cozy. One of my better buys.

I've got my Mum one for the past couple of year as her present. She gets asked to open a parcel on December 1st. She loves having a surprise every day and it helps her to get excited about Christmas. DB and I both live a long way away, DF has Alzheimer's and she feels lonely in the run up to Christmas. I've got her the Look Fantastic one this year.

The taskmaster advent calendar is brilliant fun. It's not too difficult and they do have a website with hints. I would say that it involves some outside of the box thinking and it may be useful to see some of the show to get a bit of an idea of their thinking. I definitely can't do cryptic crosswords though and had no trouble with the advent calendar.

@ShyMaryEllen - some people give a/cs as Xmas presents on 1/12, others on Xmas Day, or for a near Xmas birthday.

Quite a few schleich eldrador figures are reduced to £2 at smyths. Seem to be available in store only and not able to click and collect but I have just picked up 6 different ones at my local store and as a bonus they are on 3 for 2 as well.
