This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

I’ve a 13 month old boy and a 10 month old girl to buy for this Xmas. I was thinking mega blocks? Would you appreciate these for your toddlers. My DCs are 18&20 now so I’ve no idea but do remember that the blocks got many years of play.

Alternatively, any ideas welcome. Even better if it’s a bargain!

If they haven't got them, the Tomy hide and squeak eggs are usually my go to for kids close to 1.

Any suggestions welcome for 18 year old who has passed his driving test and started work, earning more than me.
15 year old boy who just plays on screens and doesn't read.
9 year old boy who loves football and reading

It’s a thread classic so you may have already done - but for the elder 2 and maybe the 9yo to be inclusive I’ve seen a travel cup with a voucher for local coffee place inside is popular

depending on your budget there will be cups in sales before Xmas for a few pounds, or this Contigo Byron is on sale for £9 if you were in the mood for something fancier

swampwitch0 · 24/08/2025 13:06

@MaybeMrs
John Lewis wooden building blocks were a big hit with my dc.
I tend to give as gifts, too.

any suggestions for a lovely bookish niece who’ll be first year uni if anyone sees anything?

Do you know any authors or books she has enjoyed recently? That might give us some pointers. I definitely appreciated a hamper of treats (nice biscuits etc) to take back to university.

Anewuser · 24/08/2025 13:39

Thanks @Reastie, looking forward to many more bargains. Thanks @Sideorderofchips for the bargains I’ve had already.

Just saw these on Amazon, maybe ok for teen/adult stocking? I clicked the £3 voucher and put in the code GDH5RCFD so they went through just over £4.

First ever post! I have been a long time lurker on MN generally (since my DS wS born and now he’s 4!) and have picked up so much of value from the women on this site as a first time mum feeling very much out of her depth with a newborn (and often still now ha). Anyway, I found this thread last year and it was so joyous and warm and friendly. And helped me pick up some great bargains. I saw it return and wanted to say hello. I will do my best to return the favour and share some bargains too, this year!

I feel like Duplo has more longevity just because of the number of different sets.
DD is now 3.5 but she was about 10m her first Christmas. What I really appreciated was people who asked me for ideas because I wanted to make sure she had a variety of different toys to last us over the whole year as her birthday was so early in the year.

CountryQueen · 24/08/2025 13:48

Happy Salmon is a funny game all the family can play. It’s £6.50 on Amazon, almost half price

Depending on the size of the stocking, argos has these little brick rose kits down to £3.20 The balls are largish though so maybe something the just sit on top of / next to the stocking. I'm removed just to open it up and use as homemade cracker filling.

www.argos.co.uk/product/7334803?_gl=11fb0ddq_upMQ.._gs*MQ..&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8KrFBhDUARIsAMvIApZKCMkN8mTbdJWWMmcLc1OHex5yMOolUzOJ20rfZBT8z6J7ey5-VF0aAuw1EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&gbraid=0AAAAAD9II9n4g38yyvAEKsZoi1iuxUGdU

Thanks for this tip, DD1 had just got interested in Lego flowers so this looks like a great stocking filler!!

My neice (13) loves this one
Good discount too atm

I'd say go for it. John Lewis is also honouring that discount this weekend too. (There is also a free gift if you spend over £40)

@zacsGranny or for the reader and gamer, Online Home Shop has lots of cuddle cushions for about £9 eg Cuddle cushion - assuming there is room in the house for massive cushions 😬

Thank you, ordered some cushions at a bargain price.

Not very Christmassy at all, but for all KitchenAid scissor lovers, these are down to £6.29 currently on Amazon. I got my first pair in February for £6. They are amazing so thank you to whomever suggested them before. Xx

They seem. To be £11 now, or am I looking at the wrong ones?

It’s still showing at £6.29 for me.

Hello!
These transformers battlers on Amazon have come down even further in price compared to when I bought them the other week. Bargain!

It's the return of the Christmas bargain thread - 1 - the one where it's the first one of the year

Elizabeth Arden visible difference moisture cream is down to £10 on Amazon. It’s my failsafe MIL Christmas present and hope it helps someone else out.
