This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Just reposting one from the end of the last thread in case anyone can help:

Anyone got experience of furbys? I’m thinking of getting them for DDs (6 and 8) this year. Are they a bit flash in the pan? I’m also seeing them for £35 each - is that a good price? TIA.
I also meant to add that The Entertainer has a big buy one get one half price, which appears to include lots of things that are already discounted. Good for craft kits and similar.

Please dont subject yourself to furbys.

Had them when they first came out and were extremely rare, and my mum imported from France. The thrill lasted a week.

My mum bought all our kids furbys last Christmas. None of them liked them, were more concerned about how to turn them off and have been sitting lifeless under beds since. I guess most gimmicky toys are the same, but I'd avoid personally!

Hedjwitch · 23/08/2025 22:02

I am deliberately not doing a big Christmas this year for personal reasons, and dcs are adults now anyway so they will get money and a small gift to open. I think 2 out of 3 of them will be away anyway. But I have spotted their favourite Isle of Skye candles on a 3 for 2 at the moment so got those. Really nice candles which aren't overpowering. I recommend them.

Whatthecluckingcluck · 23/08/2025 22:29

Not very Christmassy at all, but for all KitchenAid scissor lovers, these are down to £6.29 currently on Amazon. I got my first pair in February for £6. They are amazing so thank you to whomever suggested them before. Xx

NotMeekNotObedient · 23/08/2025 22:31

DD just got a Furby for her 4th birthday. She's a bit young for it admittedly but honestly, I hate it. She can't get it listen to the commands and neither can DH or I and it's got such an irritating voice. My advice is to avoid!

Joiedepotato · 23/08/2025 23:00

Yes! The Reastie thread is baaaack! So glad to see the back of summer, hate it. Only discovered these threads last year and they were absolutely excellent, so excited for round 2! 🎄💚

Re: Furbys.
Don't!

Here4the · 23/08/2025 23:35

@beetr00 there are some lovely stocking filler threads aren't there? Not usually bargains but the kind of thing that's a genuine pleasure to open.

Speaking of gorgeous and on offer, East End Press have 3 for 2 across lots of gorgeous paper chains, ornaments, and crowns.

Thanks for this, got 2 bottles of sol de jenero then a free set worth £23. Daughters birthday soon so will either give the free set for that or a stocking filler for Christmas.

CountryQueen · 24/08/2025 01:10

Have I missed a month?! Thought this was an end of September thing 😆. Not complaining, just glad I haven’t missed the first one thanks to it being in active threads!

mumonthehill · 24/08/2025 07:08

Those kitchen aid scissors are fab, possibly a rather boring thing but the most used gift for dh last year!

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/08/2025 07:26

For Skye candles do sign up to the loyalty scheme and there was a referral scheme as well. I’ve still not used all mine from last year. They are lovely candles though

Trumpton · 24/08/2025 07:26

@CountryQueen
The Poncetastic thread starts 25th September!
come and join us then for super-duper Christmassy crafting and pontification!

We love our wall hangings from East End Press, they are beautiful aren't they?! We get some more each year!

If you want to dip your toe to see if you can stand them they do ‘Furblets’ for under £10. Similar to the big ones but limited in interactions. I’d recommend before spending £70 on something that most have said don’t get played with. Lots of different colourways on fur too

That was me. I've probably mentioned them half a dozen times over the past couple of years. They used to originally go down to £4 on Prime days, but now £6 is the best price and also quite a regular deal. I have two pairs and I've got my parrnts some put away for Christmas.

Also worth noting that their excellent tongs (among other items) usually go down to a low price around Black Friday. I'll post if I see them. They are currently £10 down from £12.99 but I'm sure I got them for about £7 last year.

Robyn101 · 24/08/2025 08:38

Nice little stocking filler for boys £2-£3 currently
Hot Wheels Monster truck maker kit or Pocket racer kit

First time here for me but I’m so happy to see this thread, it’s one I’ll really enjoy getting involved with.

Beachcomber74 · 24/08/2025 08:54

Thanks @Reastie for launching & to @Sideorderofchips for the pre ones.
A quick reminiscence about previous bargains…a glitch in Hotel Chocolat so got Velvetiser for £49 and still going strong, Laithwaite Hampers & The shortbread tin hampers & some fantastic boxed stationary sets. Hoping for some more great suggestions this year!!

doctorboo · 24/08/2025 09:17

Sideorderofchips · 23/08/2025 18:37

zacsGranny · 24/08/2025 09:32

Having ordered several things from the last thread - Amazon Haul, Gin Kits and Neon Signs - I'm really looking forward to this thread.

www.sarahraven.com/all-bulbs Sarah raven also has 30% off everything with the code plants30

HeWhoWouldAValiantBe · 24/08/2025 09:39

Checking in again as usual. I still think my best ever bargain from these threads was the Playmobil school which must have been 12 or so years ago.
No bargains spotted but, for those who have sporty children, can I suggest a browse of network sports.co.uk. They have all sorts of things on there which I didn’t even know existed or thought you could only access if you were an actual sports coach or PE teacher. It sorted out teen DD & teen DS’s birthdays nicely.
