This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Thanks to pp who mentioned the kitchen aid scissors - just ordered some as a stocking filler. So hard to find things once kids get older, but they love having a stocking!

HopscotchBanana · 24/08/2025 10:05

Been on the the threads for a number of years but I have to say, last year's Nespresso machine with 80 capsules glitching for £20 was my favourite bargain.

beetr00 · 24/08/2025 10:13

@HopscotchBanana that was a great bargain but... the cost of Vertuo capsules have rendered my machine redundant.

NeelyOHara · 24/08/2025 10:22

Sorry to ask but if anyone has a Lush discount code at all I would be made up, thank you.

zacsGranny · 24/08/2025 10:26

Are the Kitchen Aid scissors on Amazon?

beetr00 · 24/08/2025 10:30

@zacsGranny

they're here, other retailers are available ;D

Just reposting one from the end of the last thread in case anyone can help:

Anyone got experience of furbys? I’m thinking of getting them for DDs (6 and 8) this year. Are they a bit flash in the pan? I’m also seeing them for £35 each - is that a good price? TIA.
I also meant to add that The Entertainer has a big buy one get one half price, which appears to include lots of things that are already discounted. Good for craft kits and similar.

My daughter was given a furby , it was absolutely sinister and vile.
They start off nice then have this awful creepy nasty voice that would randomly speak and it picks up words and would say family names mainly my daughters.
I put it in the boot of the car until i got to a charity shop.
Our one and only experience of a furby ,perhaps ours was possessed 😀

Ooh hello how exciting- love this thread. I normally lurk a bit but this year we have a 7 month old with a January birthday and my wife is on Mat leave so things are a bit tight. Will have to be more organised than usual!

My partner always says the best thing about having January/feb babies is January sales.. I do remind him we also have November and December children as well.

it’s not so bad when they are young. But parties well they are now adding up.

we are also having to watch the budget more this year as number 5 will be here on Friday. First summer baby and hit by the wage differences for a bit.

we usually shop between January and October. Split the piles in half between birthday and Christmas. Takes the pressure off a bit.

I was just looking at costs of Santa. Only needing for 4 kids. (Eldest is 18 in December and wouldn’t be seen dead visiting Santa). £60-80 just at our local garden centre. 😐

Depending on the size of the stocking, argos has these little brick rose kits down to £3.20 The balls are largish though so maybe something the just sit on top of / next to the stocking. I'm removed just to open it up and use as homemade cracker filling.

There are some amazing discounts of skincare and make up on the no7 website. I've just stocked up on skincare and it's probably cost me a quarter of what I usually pay. Some great bits to stash away for xmas, especially some sets in nice gift bags and a mens skincare set

I've popped a link on the referrals thread that will get you £10 off a £20 spend, and )10 for me also.

My favourite author at the moment is Susie Tate. And I’m at about 80 books read so far this year.

If I was picking, I would get either Daydreamer or Beg, borrow or steal. Both are amazing and really focus on empowering women. And they are the first in the respective series so scope for other presents as well!

The DIY book nooks were well loved by my neices. They're £20-40 on amazon but cheaper on Shein etc.

I’ve a 13 month old boy and a 10 month old girl to buy for this Xmas. I was thinking mega blocks? Would you appreciate these for your toddlers. My DCs are 18&20 now so I’ve no idea but do remember that the blocks got many years of play.

Alternatively, any ideas welcome. Even better if it’s a bargain!
