It's one of my faves every year

Who has the best jenga? There are always a couple of majorly impressive ones, that you couldn't fit another asparagus stalk in!

Oblomov24 · 19/12/2024 23:25

@YorkieTheRabbit , that was me, who referred to your fridge as Jenga last year, on last years thread. It was seriously impressive.

whatkatydid2014 · 19/12/2024 23:27

I shopped today as we are hosting on Sunday then going to other family on Christmas Day.

Our meat may be deemed too high up. Probably guilty of several of the other bingo items mentioned. We are trying a frozen turkey this year which needs 72 hours to defrost in the fridge. I have my reservations about it but since the fresh ones were 50% frozen as the temp was too low at Asda I decided it was maybe safer. It also seemed really cheap for a bronze turkey (hence the reservations). If it’s nice I just saved myself about £35 (or almost 3 more bottles of the champagne that’s on offer for half price at Morrisons)

Please do post everyone, once it gets going. Even non spotless fridges no one cares. Everyone is so nice, even if your fridge isn't that spectacular, and we ignore the pious misers.

Oblomov24 · 19/12/2024 23:29

Bloody 'ell @whatkatydid2014, nice one! you've started with the photos already! Grin

MerryChristmasYaFilthyBrusselSprout · 20/12/2024 00:22

We need a proper fridge thread, not this one.

Who's going to brave it?

@ThisMustBeMyDream ?

@whatkatydid2014?

GameOfJones · 20/12/2024 07:55

Yessss. Bring on the official fridge thread. Could someone please post a link here to the thread when it starts?

Soniastrumpet1984 · 20/12/2024 08:01

I've made it! Just working out how to post a link...

I can’t wait for it! I started the thread last year and the onslaught of negative comments was insane. I appreciate that some people are worse off but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy ourselves. So excited to see all the fridges, I stocked up on my 15p veggies yesterday.

AdventFridgeOfShame · 20/12/2024 10:23

Veggies are only 8p at Lidl.

I did get an amazing red cabbage at Aldi yesterday, a nice big one. The red cabbage at Morrisons were about the size of cricket balls 😕

What's on your bingo card? 😬👀

Don’t you know people are starving in the world
No one likes a show off
There is COL crisis, you know
UPFs (I would never feed my kids that shit)
No wonder there is an Obesity epidemic
Omg do you have an alcohol problem

Anyone think of anymore? 🤣😆😂

I got told I was tacky last year for it!

Oblomov24 · 20/12/2024 13:48

It's here, it's here.....
@Soniastrumpet1984 has started the Dec 24 one. Come on over everyone.

@whatkatydid2014
@ThisMustBeMyDream

And @YorkieTheRabbit come and show your Jenga! Grin

Oblomov24 · 20/12/2024 13:49

I bought the Aldi 8p veg.

2025willbemytime · 20/12/2024 15:58

We went to Asda today expecting to see the 19p veg. It was 8p! Bloody, hilarious for sprouts, carrots, broccoli and parsnips. I went crazy and bought two bags of carrots so the dog can have her own.

I heard two people say it was carnage as I walked around and laughed as it was just a little bit busier than normal.

Both Tesco and M&S here were utter chaos! Tesco because it was stupidly busy and M&S because it attracts shopping zombies of all ages who love to block aisles!

Thankfully we don't need to go to many shops now before the big day, as I'm not sure I'd cope! 🤣

AdventFridgeOfShame · 20/12/2024 17:36

I was bloody done, my red cabbage cost 15p yesterday. Today I could have got it for 8p.

I'd sulk but it was still a bargain.

Lidl leading a real price war here.

Edited to add that Morrisons have veg for 10p

longtompot · 20/12/2024 18:04

On a thread I started about just when does Christmas start, as in when can people start eating the foods for Christmas, I had this reply. I feel it's something that may be said on this thread

I am very perplexed by this but based on other threads I think I'm in the minority.
Do you mean you buy different foods specifically for the festive period? Are these in addition to your normal fare or a replacement?

Anyway, I have two fridges this year! One in the (f)utility room which is now full of the turkey, ham to bake, sausage meat for the stuffing and ALL the cheese😬
The kitchen one has been left clear of all the Christmas foods, so can concentrate on storing drinks and leftovers.

Heading over to the proper pic thread

NoWordForFluffy · 20/12/2024 18:08

@longtompot, the faux naivety in that post is just so irritating! I bet they're fucking fun at parties. Sanctimonious idiot!

Looking forward to your photos. 😀

MerryChristmasYaFilthyBrusselSprout · 20/12/2024 18:12

They are perplexed we buy different food and lots of it at Christmas? Bloody idiot 😂

AdventFridgeOfShame · 20/12/2024 18:38

I'm perplexed, do they never eat mince pies or do they eat them 12 months a year?

Have they never had a birthday cake?
