It's one of my faves every year

Well, I just wish my poor dead great nanna was alive to see a fridge. She never had one.
She'd have been 129 this Christmas but you all carry on talking about fridges. So selfish.

Lols. Love the fridge thread.

Normallynumb · 15/12/2024 22:10

Yes, me too
It makes me question if I have enough food in!

SlingingArrows · 15/12/2024 22:17

I am but I'm never making the mistake of being the one to start it again Grin.

Mumdiva99 · 15/12/2024 22:18

My big shop arrives on Sunday. I would really appreciate some of you posting yours before my Friday night cut off for amending the order. Thanks in advance.
Currently we have a whole bloody shelf of jars and bottles in the fridge which is driving me nuts!! Takes up valuable food space. (I would never post that fridge here....only the utility room one that I load up each week.)
I have already stockpiled 3 baking cheeses....can't remember which but one has hot honey drizzle and 2 were from Aldis. Only 5 of us at home to share them, but last time I bought one all the kids dug in and I didn't get any.
@BalladOfBarry I bet your great nana would love to nosey in others fridges....

What criticism did you get? Stacking issues or choice of produce queries?

Kick off about cost of living, bad taste, people using food banks etc etc. Not sure why taking pictures of a packed fridge is so controversial but this Mumsnet innit?

SlingingArrows · 15/12/2024 22:25

@Mumdiva99 no I started it a few years back when it really kicked off about the cost of living and how out of touch we all were.

I'm ready to be judged for my wine fridge full of champagne and my fridge stacking abilities.
Bring it on. Also one of my faves.

I posted my normal fridge and drinks fridge last year and got a few nasty comments 😂 I wasn’t caring as I was nearly two bottles down.

YorkieTheRabbit · 15/12/2024 22:32

Love the fridge thread, mine was described as a proper jenga fridge last year Xmas Smile

AdventFridgeOfShame · 15/12/2024 22:34

I've name changed in anticipation.
Might even clean the fridge tomorrow.

I love seeing the variety of people having a quiet Christmas with just two of them, through to people who have the whole tribe descend.

I did also! There were a few of us if I recall.
Looking forward to seeing them all again 😀

Babadookinthewardrobe · 15/12/2024 22:52

Wowzers, I’ve just read last year’s thread. I’m now looking forward to both to the fridges and the bun-fights. I’m on team fridge. Cheers 🥂

Onlyvisiting · 15/12/2024 23:16

I got halfway down this page before I realised it wasn't talking about a Christmas fudge thread 🤣 .
I did think the levels of excitement for fudge and having an entire fridge full of it was a bit unusual.......

SquirrelSoShiny · 15/12/2024 23:36

I'm already loving this thread and we haven't even got the fridge pics yet Xmas Grin

The Christmas fridge thread is my favourite thread of the year! Sometimes I go back and look at years gone by Christmas fridges too for good measure 😳

I have only ever lurked, never posted because of the misery thread police who stand with their pitchforks shouting your crass and have no care for the less fortunate. I may post this year for the first time ever.

I8toys · 16/12/2024 10:28

We've got 4 fridges. Husbands, mine, christmas/drinks fridge. We switched the another one off because of the electricity bill. 😂Also a chest freezer. Madness. (These are 2 inherited fridge/freezers after in laws moved into assisted living why we are keeping them I've no idea - its just more to fill)

I’m intrigued!, my fridge is sooo full Christmas it will give people diabetes 😂.

if it’s what I think it is, pictures of stuffed fridges, their will be so many comments off waste and over buyer. What they will say when I confess to having 2 fridges in the kitchen and a drinks fridge in the garage!

I have a drinks fridge in the garage too. I only use it over Xmas each year. I've never admitted to it before for fear of backlash. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I already have a joint of gammon for the Christmas fridge thread, currently squirrelled away on the bottom shelf.

Me too. A huge gammon joint for Xmas Eve. I bought it for half price last weekend at Tesco.

Soniastrumpet1984 · 16/12/2024 12:31

not to be too serious, but I really think the people who virtue signal on the fridge thread are often people who are not and have been no where near real poverty.
I grew up in generational poverty- all family on benefits- what would now be seen as an underclass not even working class. My mum was incredibly house proud and very very good at budgeting. She started saving for the next Christmas on 27th Dec! She stocked up on very cheap reduced stuff like wrapping and tags, and saved the co op stamps. She also bought the same things every month whether we needed them or not (like washing up liquid) so she always had a little stock cupboard, and therefore, in December, she wouldn't need to buy that item and could get mince pies or something festive instead.
Stocking up the Christmas fridge on 23rd Dec made her fell proud and capable- instead of the drain on society she was made to feel.

Can't wait, either. We don't have a drinks fridge, just whack stuff in the garage as it's cold enough this time of year. We have inside fridge, big fridge and garage freezer.

best thing about my fridge is that it's double width, so you can put a side of salmon and large platters straight in.

Omg don’t post on the Christmas fridge thread with 4 fridges, you’ll be run out of town 😂😆
