It's one of my faves every year

We've got 4 fridges. Husbands, mine, christmas/drinks fridge. We switched the another one off because of the electricity bill. 😂Also a chest freezer. Madness. (These are 2 inherited fridge/freezers after in laws moved into assisted living why we are keeping them I've no idea - its just more to fill)

You must have a massive kitchen!

TheSandgroper · 16/12/2024 14:01

@Mumdiva99 You are in a cold country in winter. Have a look at all those bottles and jars and anything with high levels of sugar, salt and olive oil can go somewhere else. They don’t need maximum refrigeration, especially for just a few days. Here in Aus, I keep tomato sauces, mustards, olives etc out in the pantry and they do fine.

Quite the opposite. We've 2 undercounter fridges in the kitchen - his and hers, then 2 fridge freezers in the garage (inherited) and a chest freezer in the garage. I think we've a drinks one somewhere as well. We're bloody obsessed.

Lookingforwardto2025 · 16/12/2024 16:57

I cleaned the garage (aka Christmas) fridge today in readiness. Can’t wait for it to be full on the 23rd.

2025willbemytime · 16/12/2024 17:00

I have started my Christmas food shop. I have two small kitchen fridges and a tall freezer in the garage. The pantry has started to be filled with drinks, crackers, desserts, crisps, extra cat food and a new tablecloth.

2025willbemytime · 16/12/2024 17:06

@Mumdiva99 I have already made a mental note to buy two or more of anything I really want to have in case the DC want some too.

Wow, I've been on MN for absolutely years, yet somehow this thread has passed me by! This year, having gone from a side by side American FF to a top and bottom style American FF, I just can't seem to get the stacking/sorting right. And that's on a normal weekly shop, so was wondering how I'm going to sort so much Christmas/NY (with a 21st Birthday thrown in) shopping sensibly. Hoping to see how others do it.
Collecting from M and S and having delivery from Sainsbury's on 24th so will be last minute fridge jenga!

I just looked at the photo gallery. Where do people keep their turkeys? There wasn’t one in any of the first ten pics

IAm16StoneHalloween2024 · 16/12/2024 17:34

“I like taking my time on each pic and zoom in if I have to”

Me too @MerryChristmasYaFilthyBrusselSprout 😆.

And I like the backgrounds on the Christmas tree thread, the pictures on the wall, the bookshelves, that kind of thing.

Gertrudesinthegutter · 16/12/2024 17:40

Omg there’s pictures already!? Off to browse

Gertrudesinthegutter · 16/12/2024 17:42

Oh… I’ll calm down now 😄

I think that thread started maybe 5 days before Christmas Day last year so lots hadn’t had their meat delivered/collected yet.

JabbaTheBeachHut · 16/12/2024 17:47

Yes I love it!

I even love the rows that kick off with the pure and sanctimonious.

It wouldn't be Christmas fridge thread without them! 😇 🤣

Yes, I do that too on the Christmas tree thread! Ha ha, we must be right nosy cows 🤣😆😂

Soniastrumpet1984 · 15/12/2024 19:34

Yes thats why we are saying we are looking forward to it..I love looking in people's fridges and kitchen cupboards and so do all my friends. We love getting the milk to make a cuppa so we can have a nose.
I hate the way people on here are really into telling people off these days. Some things are just fun. It's not showing off to have a full fridge and it doesn't mean you're rich either. My mum used to save stamps at co op all year to do the big shop

@Soniastrumpet1984 I apologise if you thought I was criticising as that was not the intention at all.

Oops sorry, I was not aiming the second bit at you!
It was in answer to people saying about the other thread being horrible! So sorry for confusion!!

Never seen it. Bring it on!!!

GrouchyKiwi · 16/12/2024 19:28

I had no idea such a thing existed. How have I missed them?!

I'm now excited for seeing some lovely fridge jenga, judging what you all put in your fridges that shouldn't be there Grin, and getting inspiration for things I might have forgotten.

usernother · 16/12/2024 19:33

I didn't know this existed. I'll really enjoy it and will post mine. Hopefully it will come up on my feed.

mum2jakie · 16/12/2024 19:39

Last year I discovered that chocolate flavour squirty cream existed, thanks to the Christmas fridge thread. I even made a special trip to Asda to buy some.

Omg don’t post on the Christmas fridge thread with 4 fridges, you’ll be run out of town 😂😆

I have one fridge/freezer in the kitchen and 2 small chest freezers ( about the size of an undercounter fridge so not huge) in the garage so we do play Jenga with them .

I might get everything out of the main fridge freezer and defrost it this weekend before the food delivery It isn't frost free so it's a pain as it ices up but still works OK.

Need to check the random assortment of jars in there and eat the remains of jam, pickle etc so I can start the lovely new ones .
Hopefully I'll have a drawer full of ice cream in the freezer if I get myself to Waitrose

The threads used to be so lovely, so festive with lots of good cheer and anticipation of the big day. Lots and lots of cosy, happy posts - big fridges, little ones and everything in between, and such a fun peek into how different households celebrate. I must say, I love nothing more than a perfectly stacked fridge worthy of a Tetris champion.

Then lockdown happened...and the virtue signallers/hard of thinking went into overdrive with trying to police whether or not people were allowed to find simple joys in life and, god forbid, write a post about it!

Utterly, utterly stupid and tedious.

There should be a disclaimer in the thread title, tbh - if you don't like it you don't need to look, do you? So DFOD and don't let the (fridge) door hit your self-righteous bum on the way out!!

Ahem. Peace and love, good will toward men and all that. 🎄🎄🎄

The older threads are absolutely fantastic but it's not felt quite the same the past few years.

Maybe 2024 is the year where we'll capture the old magic again! ✨✨✨✨✨✨

Exactly. I was just at Tesco and the Christmas Fridge Thread popped into my mind. We won’t be stocking up with loads this year as we are invited out Christmas Day plus my dh is on the weight loss jabs. Love looking at all the festive scoff tho. Can’t wait 🎄❤️

Spanielsaremad · 17/12/2024 13:28

Yesss! Can't wait for this.

We've just sold our huge outbuilding freezer and now I'm panicking about storage space.
Might have to have a fridge and freezer cull this week to free up room.
There's going to be some very strange combinations for tea this next few days..
