One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Sorry I am probably missing the point re the download as it was probably some super bargain or something but would it be better buying the actual game that slots into the switch so you have the physical present?
https://shop.warnerbros.co.uk/products/hogwarts-legacy-nintendo-switch

Its £15 for a download. So would save £10 pound.

Ive had a look on amazon but can't see it. Maybe they have sold out. I'll check again, thank you.

I’ve just looked on Amazon and it’s back up in price today. That’s a shame

I'm so gutted!

Thanks @Justkeepsmilingx and @Tiggerspal - I will check those out - they definitely both need something like that!

TryingToHelpBut · 30/11/2024 17:45

@Vimaybe I've used this lot before for alcohol and miniatures. Might not be quite what you are after as not a lot of choice but decent prices.

@Raindancer411 I’m a bit late to this but Bigjigs have a wooden fridge freezer!

I’ve just had a great experience with their customer service, so feel very happy to recommend them.
A friend bought a lovely train toy for DS but it must have been faulty as a magnet came loose. They replaced it without me even having to have an awkward conversation with my friend to get her proof of purchase!
I’ve been looking at their website and am getting DS a few more very reasonably priced reduced bits for his wooden train set.

Can I ask what crocs are like for size? My DS has wide feet so can sometimes be a bit of a struggle.

IlovePond · 30/11/2024 17:51

Hi @Tiggerspal and @Justkeepsmilingx - this is probably a silly question but do the cleaners labelled for AirPods work on other types of case?

Thanks so much

Width wise I don't think you'd have a problem as they are VERY wide.

I've just had a new pair and with the back down they feel slightly' snug.

Can I ask where the offer is? Thanks so much

Either go to the actual outsmarted website and go to the shop there - all categories are listed with the price. Pay by Apple Pay, PayPal card etc
You are then emailed a code for each one and redeem it in the app (really easy to do)
Or go to the outsmarted app if you have already set it up and pay as an in app purchase
Both on offer

Any ideas for a couples gift, around £30-40. Feel like we have done the usual to death, nice chocs and wine etc.

@SweetPeaPods Laithwaites have some nice hampers. If you, your husband or your granny etc. are a new customer you can use a referral code for £40 off an £80 spend from the referral thread and get a free hamper for yourselves.

If you want my code PM me.

@picnicfuntimes How do you know what ones fit in the crackers please

My mum sewed me some reusable crackers a few years ago - about 3x the capacity of a normal cracker so I’m assuming they’ll fit!

My son definitely has wide feet and crocs are pretty roomy. Delivery and returns are free by the way.

I haven’t opened them yet so @Tiggerspal might be able to answer better but I think so - this is from the Amazon page of the ones I ordered.

Has anyone seen any cheap but decent garlands anywhere please? I'm wanting them to go on the exterior of the window so nothing too fancy/heavy looking.

Croc bands are the widest size they do

IlovePond · 30/11/2024 18:43

Thanks @Justkeepsmilingx - I am buying them - such a good idea. Am getting myself some too!

Straysocks · 30/11/2024 18:43

@choc27 don’t sign up to Nintendo to purchase. If you use his details it will load.Is it important you give the game specifically? You could give Nintendo vouchers (I think). Check out CDKeys, available through TopCashback, I don’t think it’s on offer at the moment but has been. Could you try CEX or Game for second hand? I’ve done this with Xbox and it was great, they will know about Nintendo.

@Vimaybe Hotel chocolat have mini versions of their alcohol drinks.

PlanBea · 30/11/2024 18:55

Had anyone had a case when their Quidco has taken a long time to track? Around lunchtime I opted in to the £20 on £80 spend on Shark Clean and bought a £200 mop - currently neither the cashback or bonus are showing. It usually tracks pretty quickly for me 🤔

IlovePond · 30/11/2024 18:57

@PlanBea - I used Quidco for the first time yesterday and it tracked straightaway. Used it again this morning and zilch! I should have known it was too good to be true😿

I've apparently earned over £800 over the years (I shudder to think how much I've spent!!) and I have had a few times where it's been rejected but not known it just not appear 😕

Papillon1 · 30/11/2024 19:01

I just logged into my John Lewis account on the app and had a £10 off a £120 spend voucher code sitting there. Might be worth checking if you’re looking for electronics etc.
