Thread 15 - the one where IT'S DECEMBER!

Reastie · 30/11/2024 11:54

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

I'm still umming and ahhing about whether to buy the Smiggle advent calendar for next year but I'm sure there would be other things out there DS would be more excited by. If anyone sees any other great bargains on kids advents please shout! I've looked at a few and can't see any huge discounts as yet...

TheGirlWhoLived · 05/12/2024 20:11

The most similar item on there now is this Christmas hamper but it has less than the Black Friday offer and is £7 more! I think there is possibly a 15% code floating around. The Black Friday one included an extra round tin and an extra savoury cracker

Has anyone found some gorgeous mens slippers? Not really cheap ones but some quality ones please.

Also last year there was a thread on present ideas for teenage boys is that still around does anyone know? Struggling for the boys this year!

Can anyone repost the deans offer please

They had various bargain hamper offers in the lead up to Black Friday. Unfortunately no longer available, but their Xmas hampers and offers looks good.

My Deans arrived today, we have already eaten one box of shortbread 😋. One tin had a tiny dent on the back but only very tiny and nothing I would have noticed without looking closely, the others were perfect.

Does anyone have an Emma bridgewater friend referral? Or know of how to get a mug bargain!

Onemoret1me · 05/12/2024 20:54

I think I remember seeing a thread/post about useful presents/gadgets but can’t find it. Could anyone please point me in the right direction. I think it was in one of these threads I saw it. Thanks

Got my Deans hamper today!! Contents are gorgeous and will make great gifts! Thank you to the original poster who found it!

@MadeForThis For the IPA triathlon secret santa, I really like the flapjack and seed bar things from Kendal Mint Cake and so do friends but they are dear to get for ourselves, so nice to be given. Maybe some of those with a couple of bottles of beer? 15% off first order I think, don't know terms. We rate their gels too, and obviously the mint cake, but I know they are more personal taste and easier to get wrong gift wise. They do have an energy bar selection gift pack.

My hamper arrived today and I'm really impressed with it!

Claire’s really are rubbish for that. Every single order I have ever picked up from them has had at least one free item missing, or an item to the value of a voucher missing.

I would never order from them full price, but I really don’t mind taking advantage of the stacking offers because I know I am only likely to receive two thirds of it anyway.

I did place an order for delivery yesterday (just before getting the 30% off email 🙄) in the hope that if it’s coming from a delivery centre they might actually send it all.

Same, and in my experience they take weeks to respond to emails! 😬

They are then pretty good at sorting things out where they can though (though you won’t get out of stock items)

They probably only had one sloth in stock. They are terrible for items being out of stock after you’ve ordered, and they don’t refund vouchers unless you email (so I’ve waited weeks to get them back). They don’t email to say they’re out of stock; on the despatch notice they’ll list next to the item the number that they sent out (so 0 if you ordered one and it wasn’t in stock etc).

It’s another reason why I prefer to buy single items now with 50% off rather than the buy 3 get 3 etc, as I don’t think they’ve ever been able to fulfill the whole order.

Just Sheepskin are very good. My husband swears by them for comfort. His last pair lasted two years and he is at home most of the time so they are worn a lot.

Not sure who posted about the National Gallery book on Amazon reduced from £50 to £13. I bought it for MIL who I think will love it - v glad I'm not posting it as it weighs a ton! Thanks so much, it’s amazing.

A cheeky request, I don't suppose anyone has an amazon 2 odeon tickets for £10 code that they aren't going to use? My son desperately wants to see the new Sonic film and I'd forgotton how much the cinema can be when you aren't going to the kids screenings! Thanks!
