Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Another one here totally underwhelmed with Black Friday offers, but overwhelmed with the email bombardment (for offers that are no better than the last month).

I’m so happy to hear this as I’ve ordered it and planning to give it to the DC on Christmas Eve! Thanks for the update! Can I ask - Is it tricky to set up (would it be worth doing a trial of it with DH beforehand?)

It’s brilliant
Just remember you need to use phones or iPads and download the app
We found it better with one each or an iPad per team
My teens have started to play it loads by themselves on their phones - can use a virtual board and dice roll
You can play a full game or limit it to 30 minutes/1 hour
Great family game as you can change the difficulty of questions for each age

rhubarbhandsoap · 29/11/2024 22:11

@LittleMousewithcloggson brilliant thank you!! 🙏

I need help gang! My sister has said my 5 y/o niece would love anything 'girly' but not make-up as she has some already... I have boys and am drawing a blank, help! Budget £30ish

NoForwardingAddress · 29/11/2024 22:17

I'm wanting to buy some Beats headphones - the wireless over head ones. The cheapest I can find is £99. Has anyone seen them cheaper anywhere?

Magik01 · 29/11/2024 22:19

Does anyone have any recommendations for a digital photo frame? I know there’s a few different ones about but would love to have a personal recommendation. It’s for a Christmas gift for my grandparents who are in their 80s, so would like one that had an app that I can upload photos to it. Can’t really stretch to Aura prices though, probably £60 tops. Thanks!

Catching up on the thread. I've just been to Asda!

Can I ask which Lego sonic set please? Son would like 2 particular sets. Also, what's the 20% off offer, is it for everyone? Thanks!

Sorry I've been out all day so just seen your question. I ordered the Knuckles and the Master Emerald Shrine set (76998) and also a Lego Ferrari (76914) and both of the discounts were automatically applied at the checkout.

At 5 my girly dd loved sparkly headbands, hairbands from claires/accessorise/h&m. And jojo bows but i dont think they are in anymore! She pretty much lived in cat ears and a sparkly tutu!

I know you said no makeup but dd loved body glitter and a glittery hair mascara. We tried hair chalk but didn't work on dds dark hair!

She also enjoyed twirling ribbons. Swishy dressing up princess costumes, a fairy wand that made a noise and those awful click clack dress up shoes 🤣

A handbag to carry around her treasures was her favourite! And an old purse which she used for play and to keep old gift cards/loyalty cards!!

PeoniesAreMyFavouriteFlower · 29/11/2024 22:26

Thanks @dramalamma - I’ll check them out.

JillyBoel22 · 29/11/2024 22:32
