Thread 15 - the one where IT'S DECEMBER!

Reastie · 30/11/2024 11:54

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Hi, Does anyone have a discount code for Suri toothbrushes please? Or do they do referrals? Never heard of them before but sister has requested and even with bf discount they are dear. Thank you

fishfingersandchipsagain · 30/11/2024 12:49

I finally checked out my Claire’s basket after missing a discount earlier in the month.

There is 30% off plush toys which stacks with the buy 3 get 3 free. I had a £5 voucher for a new Claire’s account, and the basket bizarrely discounted further when paying by ApplePay, so I got 6 palm pals for £9.80

(ETA usually £8 each and perfect for in stockings)

😂I'd been eagerly awaiting their Black Friday offering. Absolutely nothing off the majority of dressing gowns. So I got in a strop and bought one from a different company to spite them.

Haha. That sounds like something i would do 😁
I got their dressing gowns / duster coats half price in their summer sale. Always found it to be better then for reductions then annoyingly.

Just to also mention, Isle of Skye candles still have up to 50% off their signature range with free delivery on everything (no minimum spend). Ends tomorrow I think. I've had two so far and they are gorgeous (Bohemian Rose and Vanilla and Fig)

Fuckingfuckssake · 30/11/2024 13:11

@Scout2016 you won't get one for less than £56, Quidco are doing £10 back on a £50 spend at Boots and you'll get bonus advantage card points I think, I've been looking for ages and haven't found a better offer.

fishfingersandchipsagain · 30/11/2024 13:14

20% cashback on toy purchases at Very with TopCashback for new and existing customers.

I ordered some Lego that was already cheaper than elsewhere.

Also spotted this very cute kit for building kinetic sculptures. At first I thought it was just a book. But on reading up it has everything to create the contraptions pictured.

Babynumberthreeee · 30/11/2024 13:53

Bit of a niche one but walkie talkies have a 20% off voucher to click and an additional 20% off code, I use these when camping as my children are old enough to go to the park/ cycling by themselves but means we can be contacted or contact them without having phones etc

mumonthehill · 30/11/2024 13:58

In real life, i managed to get an over 6ft Nordman real tree in Lidl today for £13. It will sit outside until we bring it in but it was a bargain!

motheronthedancefloor · 30/11/2024 14:01

any oodie sock deals as they all seem sold out. any equivalents?

IlovePond · 30/11/2024 14:11

@motheronthedancefloor - apart from the specific Oodie patterned ones, such as the pandas, you can often buy very similar socks in TKMaxx - Totes, etc.

They have a lot of thick slipper socks in New Look but only the black or white ones have the grippy soles.

There’s loads from Totes direct:

These are reduced and very cute:

What are the best photo book offers, does anyone know?

PaddingtonTwinkles · 30/11/2024 14:58

Piglets Pantry has a good deal on Afternoon Tea (delivered to your door) I have used the company multiply times, and highly recommend.
Afternoon tea for two should be £32.50, you can get it for £29.90 delivered.
Use the code 'Wellington' to take £2.60 off.

Can book in advance. I've just purchased one for middle of January.

IlovePond · 30/11/2024 15:02

I had a look through my present stash today. Unfortunately most of what I have bought seems to have been for me🙈

DH is sorted - new phone and accessories and underwear. Plus - the piece de resistance - a new umbrella. (He is both obsessed with umbrellas and unable to keep hold of one for more than a few weeks at a time.)

Adult DS x2 are proving more difficult - younger one just ‘wants money’ - I fear he will be disappointed at any actual physical amount 😹, as I am much better at bargain hunting for actual presents. Meanwhile older DS is ‘still thinking about it’ without any real sense of urgency.

I have already got them underwear and deodorant, (and electric toothbrushes due to a good bargain on Oral B from Boots). However, I want to get a couple of cheapish fun gifts as what I have so far are practical things that they ‘need’, rather than ‘want’

Any suggestions for reasonably priced adult presents for those who are very much still into gadgets, gaming, anime? It needs to be small things due to lack of space. They have zero interest in sport, aftershave, tools, etc. if that helps narrow it down. Food is out too, due to allergies😿 We did Oodies last year.

Thanks
