Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Are these good quality t-shirts? The P&P seems steep but cost of t shirt is low so I’m maybe tempted if they are good quality.

Very good quality. I bought 3 for ds1’s birthday in October and they’ve all been washed and tumble dried at least once a week and are like new. I’ve just ordered 8 more. There is a small discount £2 I think, for signing up to newsletters.

MissAnnThropeofYorkshire · 27/11/2024 16:34

Does anyone know where I might be able to get Fifa 25 (or EA Sports FC as it's now known) for the PS4, with any discount? It currently £42 pretty much everywhere apart from the Playstation Store, but I want a disc so that's no good. How are video games so bloody expensive?? Any ideas would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Just got to say: I am loving my Santa’s Elf dress from Lidl - I am thinking of it as an early Xmas present to myself and may wear it all year round 😹

motheronthedancefloor · 27/11/2024 16:49

anyone know of any chocolate bargains along the lines of hazelnut whirls for someone who loves them?

shinny · 27/11/2024 16:58

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 27/11/2024 16:27

Baby Guinness cocktail set - two Guinness style shot glasses, small bottle each of Tia Maria and Bailey's.

I know a PP linked to this little gift set at Morrison's at £8 - it's on for £7 with a Clubcard at Tesco.

Baby Guinness is the cocktail of choice of all DC and their uni friends at the moment, so a handy stocking filler for anyone with a young adult to buy for.

Hi. Can anyone recommend where to get some port please? Planning on a cheese and port hamper for my DDad but don’t drink myself so unsure where to start looking. Thank you

Marks and Spencer do a nice one it was £8 last week instead of £10. I always buy it for DH.

Thelifeofawife · 27/11/2024 17:34

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz where did you find the railcard code? I’ve had a look on my account but can’t see anything for rail

I'm sure all the Tiktok shop stuff can be bought through Aliexpress, Temu, Shein etc. for cheaper anyway? DSD is always showing me shit stuff she's bought from there and it mostly looks like the stuff that pops up for £5 on targeted ads!

I just want to reiterate this. So many adverts I see for something that looks really good, you can get the same loads cheaper elsewhere. It’s just not hyped up and made fancy. As an example, I keep looking suspiciously at the Fahlo bracelets. You can buy the bracelet off Aliexpress for pennies. Bung in a QR code, get everyone on Mumsnet talking about it……

Raindancer411 · 27/11/2024 17:45

Argos have a good few things in their 3 for £20 offer. I have just brought three unicorn charm packs that are £9 each on Amazon for £6 odd each.

I know what you mean and I’m sure they’re the same bracelets, but some of the money to Fahlo does support conservation and you can track your animal’s movements in an app which is a nice touch

EE Rewards at the moment -

10% off Christmas Tree World
2 Benefit Mascaras (1 full size 1 mini) for £10
25% off Nomo chocolate
10% off JBL audio products

Thread for sharing voucher codes is here

Also the Nespresso Vertuo machines are on Black Friday at Amazon for £55 - not quite the £29 bargain but a good discount and they come with a code for 50 free pods at Nespresso so worth a look if anyone has coffee fomo!

Famousthehero · 27/11/2024 18:04

Extra Fahlo info:

attached is Finn the shark from one of our bracelets, showing his journey.

we actually have double the animals we got bracelets for as well, as both the shark and penguin couldn’t be tracked for a while so they switched to alternates, then our originals obviously reemerged somewhere so we can see all four now.

i couldn’t tell you where the bracelets are now, but the kids still sometimes want to check on their animals and it’s easy to just open the app.

Don’t know why I’m leaping to their defence, but for me it has felt like a worthwhile gift.

StrawberryThief1930 · 27/11/2024 18:09

fahlo animal tracking was a massive hit last year in my family, its now my go to gift for tweens & teens. They love them! yes the bracelet is fairly basic but its about the app and animal tracking rather than the beads.

Bippityboppitybooo · 27/11/2024 18:30

There was a great amazon deal last year on zuru robo fish 2 packs. Has anyone seen anything this year? My daughter has finally asked for something for Christmas 😅 And I've already got a 2 pack of turtles because her brother is obsessed with turtles...

Minihero · 27/11/2024 18:49

Argos - £20 each or 3 for £20??

Missscentsation · 27/11/2024 18:58

Gymshark, 70% sale plus an extra 20% off bottoms with BOTTOMS20 there's leggings on for £18, so about £14 pair. One for them, one for me 😉

i think this probably is a discounted price tbh. I bought last week for Xbox for £42 after it was previously £55.
I ended up buying from Argos with a couple of bits from tu 25% off and then using a 5 off 50 code. Plus I paid partly with nectar points & then bought a voucher off jam doughnut to get cash back on the rest…

you could use the Quidco offer that’s on to get bonus £5 cash back?

hby9628 · 27/11/2024 19:13

@Famousthehero same in this house. My DD loves tracking her turtle Pringles. It's such a cute thing to see.

I have lots of brand new Pandora boxes and gift bags - when I bought charms in the same last January they sent me a box & gift bag for each item. Happy to post you one if you like?

I’m sorry to jump on this post but if the op doesn’t I would be really grateful. Bought a charm online and all the nice Pandora packaging got damaged in the post. Luckily the charm was ok. No worries if not x

Just wanted to warn others about the Degustabox calendar. I get it every year, and it's brilliant.

This year, mine arrived with a door clearly smashed and something had leaked in it (won't say what so as to keep the surprise for others). The whole calendar was ruined as the liquid had gone through the entire calendar.

I tried to call them but the Customer Service phone number is disconnected. I emailed and waited 10 days but no reply. I have tried Facebook Messenger too - no reply at all. Eventually customer service replied to my email saying they couldn't open my photos, so I resent them as a different format... and still I have had no reply to this for another 10 days.

I have just today had to raise a dispute with my credit card company, and would warn everyone that it's great when it's great, but there is zero customer service and I would avoid them like the plague if you're sending them as presents to other people.

I ordered last year, all was fine so ordered 2 this year but they've only sent 1. They have ignored me and I've had to raise it with my bank

crikeyisthatthetimez · 27/11/2024 19:30

New look £25 gift card is reduced to £21.25 on Amazon as part of Black Friday. This would be good for a gift or if anyone is buying themselves something for Christmas!
