Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@Keeponkeepigon ah thank you so much...sorry my fault though she's only 14 but adults size 8! Think that's why I'm struggling. I'm hoping my student friend might come through with a code for me

They have 25% off the grey ones at the Sevenstore and they have them in size 8! Sevenstore Grey Adidas Campus

I'm sure all the Tiktok shop stuff can be bought through Aliexpress, Temu, Shein etc. for cheaper anyway? DSD is always showing me shit stuff she's bought from there and it mostly looks like the stuff that pops up for £5 on targeted ads!

InbetweenDreams · 27/11/2024 14:30

Monsoon has some good deals in their sale. Lots of things half price and if you sign up to be a member you get free deliveries (plus two free next day deliveries per year I think?), birthday codes (usually something like 25% off one full price item) and you collect points on your purchases. So I just bought something 50% off used my points to bring it down further and got free delivery. Thought it was worth mentioning!

Rainbow321 · 27/11/2024 10:45

Haven't gone through the whole thread , but I've just had an email from ROKA ( backpacks ) to say on a lot of items 50% off .

Thank you.

Do you know if there is any chance to get free delivery on a small order? it's a bit steep with £5 below £70

woodwaj · 27/11/2024 14:06

I have ordered for an 11 year old yesterday however the FAQs did say they don't do children sizes at present. I've chanced it though

I’ve done exactly the same today! Ordered for a rather petite 11 year old boy, chancing the size but he’ll love the concept

woodwaj · 27/11/2024 14:40

@Dolphintrainer that's exactly what I thought he will find it interesting even if it's just to track!

Am wary of tiktok @nottinghall as my partner got scammed last week they tried to set up Apple Pay with his bank details...he got a text saying he had set up Apple Pay which he had not...had to speak to fraud line at his bank and cancel his credit card.

sorry about that. I've never had any problems, and been shopping there for about 2 years. Toilet paper and kitchen roll too. Hope your partner managed to sort it

Some shops sell stuff from M&S, monsoon and shops like that too, for example CFS. Might be last seasons, but the quality has always been good.

The other shops I've used have had good quality items, not at all like stuff I've seen from Shein and Temu

snoopysnoooper · 27/11/2024 14:52

There is a lot of rubbish to wade through on TikTok but many legit businesses use it as a selling platform. I buy all my dogs natural chews from a business I found on TikTok shop Smile

I think you just have to use common sense and look at reviews of the products and shop and you'll be grand.

Hello,

I know the spicery sets have been mentioned on these threads before. I wanted to get something from there as a secret santa gift. Does anyone have any voucher codes for them or know if they do anything for black friday (nothing on their website atm). Also, any recommendations for sets to get? Secret santa budget is approx £15.

Thank you

I have a single referral code, which will get you 10% off orders over £20, if that is any good, please message me. It's one use, and I get £5 off a future order. It has my name in it, so wouldn't post it generally in the referral thread.

I love the Spicery - it's a local company to us, and we've really enjoyed the single meal kits. I've got DH the Curry Legends set for Christmas.

I know your Secret Santa is approx £15, but they do also have lovely Christmas spices.

hby9628 · 27/11/2024 15:06

@MagicalFudgePops you legend thank you! I've not heard of this store before have you used them? I'll use PayPal to pay to cover myself I think

CelticPromise · 27/11/2024 15:07

Bistrot Pierre has £10 of £50 and £20 off £100 gift cards in the loyalty app. I've bought them for myself before as we go now and again. Also good gifts.

hby9628 · 27/11/2024 15:21

Found some on asos for £72 inc delivery & I've gone through TCB. Thanks for your help everyone!
@Keeponkeepigon I looked for cream but couldn't see any. I'll keep an eye out

IlovePond · 27/11/2024 15:31

Hi, some nice plain red, (dark, not scarlet), velvet stockings for £3.99 in Aldi today.

They also had the Lip Stick package and the Lacura face oil, plus it’s of setting spray. (Sady, no gold caviar cream😿)

Has buy one get one free with code FREEPRINTBLACK or free shipping with Ship20.

My Fahlo order last year didn't all arrive in time for Christmas and they were a nightmare to chase, seemed to be of the impression that because the missing bracelet was the free one in the 3f2 offer that I wouldn't mind that it was missing.

Normallynumb · 27/11/2024 15:48

These dolls are so cute and a great price! Would they be suitable for a 9 year old (she loves spooky stuff)?

Raindancer411 · 27/11/2024 16:03

Quidco are doing a £5 cashback on a £15 spend in Argos, JL. It may help someone. I have left my referral code on the referrals thread too

shinny · 27/11/2024 16:17
